The admission of Toure is terrific he just seems like a natural striker who is always in the box for every bit of miss-kicks. Also, Kusini Yeongi appears on the team list, I've never seen him or know what he's like, all I know is that appears on the team list as a striker. - can anyone fill me in?

“Adelaide United's "mystery" owner and his not-so-secret thoughts Thursday September 12, 2019 Adelaide Manton St Tales Who’s Adelaide United chairman Piet van der Pol? As Spiro Karanikos-Mimis stories, the Reds boss has opened up to fans about his role on the membership, its possession, the formula forward for Hindmarsh stadium and a fluctuate of different soccer points. Adelaide United chairman Piet van der Pol. Picture: AAP/David Mariuz Adelaide United hosted a member’s dialogue board on the Adelaide Leisure Centre in July. It used to be a effectively-attended and sturdy dialogue with key figures on the membership. Club proprietor Piet van der Pol spoke about many issues and supplied some attention-grabbing insights into his pondering and future course for the Reds. It used to be the principle chance I’ve had to meet van der Pol in person: he struck me as a pleasurable man who loves soccer. Below are among the feedback he made on the dialogue board which included addressing questions about the membership’s possession and the departure of Marco Kurz. On Adelaide United’s owners I am the chairman and additionally the ‘thriller’ proprietor of the membership all in a single. I produce beget some partners but [they] are investors slightly than owners. They’re no longer those that come here or shouting that we beget to commerce the left reduction or we beget to fire the coach… these other folks put their money on the table and without that money that we put in, this membership would’ve had a variety of issues. They are other folks I if truth be told beget identified a lengthy time and grew to turn out to be eager with me but don’t want to be eager operationally and are chuffed to support the membership and are chuffed to position money in. They are other folks that don’t beget egos, who don’t want to be within the newspaper and are serving to us to are attempting and produce what we are seeking to produce here. There’s no secret here – there’s no drug dealers, no human traffickers, no the relaxation. [They are] frequent commerce other folks that fancy soccer. On Qingdao Red Lions I if truth be told beget the the same unbiased for a membership in China and that’s even more sophisticated than working a membership here in Australia. We conception there are alternatives to connect China to the comfort of the realm. Each tremendous membership in Europe is making an are attempting to receive a connection into China. We did it the opposite method around. We now beget a membership in China and we want to connect the membership in China to other locations. We conception by connecting several clubs it might well well perchance most likely inspire manufacture soccer in China but additionally soccer in other locations. Bringing reduction ragged players in coaching roles A soccer membership is essentially based entirely on history and tradition. In Australia the clubs are slightly young needless to affirm, but… I consistently voice we might well well well well smooth first see in our backyard first before we start up taking a see during the avenue. For sure, it’s no longer [just] about bringing ragged players reduction, it’s about bringing top other folks reduction who can inspire the membership grow and inspire the membership manufacture within the gorgeous course. First you see on the folks that love the membership and know the membership. That is the glaring first step for me. On appointing Bruce Djite I reflect we first met 5 years ago – one thing fancy that. Bruce used to be smooth a participant and I spent an hour having espresso with Bruce. And after that I conception if I’m ever passionate about a soccer membership in Australia I want to receive Bruce on board. I’ve never suggested him this but my second conception used to be: if he hasn’t turn out to be Top Minister within the intervening time. Bruce as a participant used to be if truth be told particular. His method of pondering, his professionalism – on and off the pitch. He has a huge network in soccer; he is aware of every participant in Australia. He’s played in Turkey, he’s played in China, he is aware of world soccer. He’s an lovely communicator and I couldn’t be happier with somebody than Bruce. The resolution no longer to re-appoint Marco Kurz Marco used to be the coach when I grew to turn out to be the chairman of the membership. I’ve had over one 365 days to notice him work for the membership and survey him work for the team. At some level, he requested after we’d overview and we unbiased a second for that. We stated we’d produce that discontinue of February, origin of March, and that’s what we did. I if truth be told beget my imaginative and prescient of the build aside the membership desires to be heading and that additionally depends on the build aside soccer in Australia desires to be heading. I reflect the mentality of the Australian players is mighty higher [than players in Europe]. They are far more inviting to produce more and toughen themselves, whereas European players will voice – it’s too sophisticated, I will traipse to another membership. The entirety is readily available here [in Australia] but one crucial thing that is missing here is lawful formative years pattern of players because most A-League clubs don’t beget a full-sized academy. Younger players receive on board with Adelaide United on the age of 16 – or later as soon as in a while. These young skills traipse away out so many coaching hours by legit coaches and by top coaches – which is entirely frequent in Europe – and what these young players don’t be taught between [the ages of] six and 16 is enormous. There’s masses of abilities, there’s masses of principal clubs… but tremendous coaching [and] increasing the utterly skills – that doesn’t exist ample. Many players traipse abroad after which don’t receive it and are available in reduction. They have a tendency to head to a level that is simply too high for them. The adaptation between pattern here and in Europe is enormous. So for me, what is key for soccer in Australia is increasing young players. We now beget to focal level on teaching young players soccer. This suggests, another time, that if we are seeking to safe a participant, we first see at what we already beget. So, I’m taking a see at a coaching employees that is outdated to working this method, outdated to taking a see at formative years to head scouting all over. Adelaide United essential a coaching employees who is, first of all, enhancing players and making players higher… and our coach from closing 365 days used to be no longer that assemble of coach. On Isaias’ departure Isa had one thing in his contract that if [a certain amount] is supplied, he can traipse. The contract used to be achieved before I grew to turn out to be chairman here, so I wasn’t attentive to your entire crucial facets. Isa rang me in some unspecified time in the future and stated: “I might well well perchance fancy to debate with you.” He came to my home, we had a chat. He stated: “Leer, I if truth be told beget got a advice from the Heart East.” We had if truth be told started talking about extending his contract and perchance having another role within the long term. He stated: “Right here is so mighty money for my family, for my young other folks, that I want to request you – can I traipse away?” I stated that if somebody deserves an opportunity fancy this, it would be you. If regardless of the membership offer is low-label… [Adelaide United] shouldn’t be any longer going to stand for your method because we want to permit you to beget this chance. Right here is the true fact of soccer. Upgrading Hindmarsh/modern stadium debate I if truth be told fancy [Hindmarsh Stadium]. For me, the true fact each person is shut to the pitch, the ambiance there might well be splendid. That’s what a soccer stadium desires to be fancy. My first day in town, I had two other folks contacting me. One used to be Sam Ciccarello, the chairman of the FFSA, the opposite one used to be Anthony Kirchner of Adelaide Venue Management. The membership had had a skittish relationship with both key organisations. I seen a knowing that used to be perchance already a few years weak about covering the three stands, rising the capability a diminutive to 20 or 22 ,000. It appeared splendid. I was going thru it after which I seen the backside line – $150 million. $150 million for three roofs and a few thousand seats extra. Nothing else. No dressing rooms, no services. And I conception – 5 per cent curiosity, $7.5 million a 365 days – we cannot pay that. That might well well well never be afforded by [an Australian] soccer membership. It’s entirely unaffordable for the membership and for AVM. Spiro Karanikos-Mimis is HEADLINEZPRO’s soccer columnist.” https://headlinezpro.com/adelaide-uniteds-mystery-owner-and-his-not-so-secret-thoughts/spiro content is content

So effectively , AVM ( a govt aligned body ) will charge aufc to increase capacity at hindmarsh... AUFC cant afford the dollars.. Meanwhile , two afl clubs and a cricket association get a shiney new paid for stadium

Adelaide United is hoping for African inspiration — on and off the pitch — as it bids to extend its record as the most successful side in FFA Cup history. The club’s Red Army supporter group will be bolstered by a dozen members of Burundian Drummers SA for Tuesday’s knockout quarter-final against Newcastle Jets at Hindmarsh. It would provide a familiar soundtrack for African-born young guns Pacifique Niyongabire and Al Hassan Toure as they bid to fire the two-time cup winner into the last four. “It’s going to be pretty cool having the drummers in the stands,” said Niyongabire, who was raised in a Tanzanian refugee camp after his family fled war-torn east African nation Burundi. “I’ve grown up watching them, so it’s awesome having our culture acknowledged and represented like this. “They will bring a different vibe and a different atmosphere to the game. “All the boys are looking forward to playing in front of them and our home fans.” Niyongabire, 19, would look to add his sole cup appearance, after scoring 16 goals in the past two winter seasons for Adelaide’s NPL SA side and making his A-League debut last year. “Having a few African boys in the (Reds) team helps motivate the other young kids to work harder and try to pursue something in the A-League,” said the Playford and Gawler product. “Al Hassan is very skilful and a great player with a lot of speed who brings that extra spark. “I like dribbling a lot and I hope people enjoy watching the way I play. “There’s a lot of young talented players coming through and hopefully they can get a sniff of the first team.” Red Army member Robby Anderson said the addition to the supporter group reflected efforts to make it more culturally inclusive and open to people from all backgrounds. Drummer Andre Ntibesha, who was born in Burundi and moved to Adelaide 12 years ago, was looking forward to sharing his passion for music and soccer with United fans. “We will bring our energy and our culture to the game and we are ready to make a big noise to support the team,” Ntibesha said. “We are quite excited because we are expanding our horizons and meeting with different communities.” United Advisory Board chairman Ian Smith said the club was focused on broader community engagement. “The Burundian drummers are one of many groups who we are privileged to know thanks to a mutual love of the world game,” Smith said, “This initiative is one in which the club is very proud to be involved.” https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/subscribe/news/1/?sourceCode=AAWEB_WRE170_a&dest=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.adelaidenow.com.au%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Fa-league%2Fteams%2Fadelaide%2Fburundian-drummers-to-bolster-red-army-for-adelaide-uniteds-ffa-cup-quarterfinal%2Fnews-story%2F0dae64e1d90cd1f63bd9918f68d01a46&memtype=anonymous&mode=premium

The players or the drummers? the drummers :) i know the players got the win I thought you might have specifically meant Niyongabire and Toure. Niyongabire might be exciting at NPL/youth level but from what I saw in his 20 minutes last night he has a lot of maturing to do before he becomes a regular staring A-League player. Nearly cost us a goal near the end after giving away the ball and some insanely lazy tracking back after having done so. Jesus I was annoyed at that. Toure did a few nice things but was otherwise fairly quiet, goal aside, and showed he needs some more exposure against professional defences.

Any other United fans thoughts on how we are looking this season? I feel like our defence is looking shaky which is funny as it's all the same players essentially. I guess it shows how important the midfield set up is to having such a solid defence.
Feel like we will score more goals but also concede more goals this season. Some people call that exciting I guess but results are what excite me so fingers crossed is the best I can feel about the season so far.
We are going to need Ospeth to get up to speed quick smart. Looked decent enough with his few touches. Beautiful pass laid on for Niyongabire that I feel like our other strikers wouldn't have seen. Looked a little slow off the mark but I'm not sure speed is something he is known for. Not that I'd really know just going on earlier highlights etc

Just realised Isaias could be the biggest reason our defence looks more unsettled. Holy cow I am going to miss him. We are going to miss him I should say.

Isaias is a big loss, but according to FB, Gertjan said we're getting another back & a defensive mid. Sounds like a speech before the hordes crash the barricades. Still, miracles happen - or so Scott shouted.

I guess they figure Boland is going to play that role? I don't know....my hopes were a bit higher a month ago. Ospeth is a wait and see I guess. Yet to see enough from Maria to suggest he wasn't just signed because he is super cheap and is a rare ex-player who likes Verbeek...
Seems the owners want to be top 3 every year by letting our best players go, not signing replacements, firing trophy winning coaches, closing off entire sections of Coopers for cup games while keeping some people happy by signing ex-legends on minimum chips who have little to no experience in their roles.
I signed up again because I'm a sucker and probably always will but numbers don't seem great so far from what I can tell on other threads here....

Flinders University is Adelaide United Football Club’s new Premier Partner for the 2019/20 season as part of a ground-breaking initiative to broaden the sport in South Australia.
Flinders University will feature on the front of the Reds’ home playing kit from Friday night, when United kicks-off the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season at Coopers Stadium.
Flinders University offers life-changing education opportunities to more than 25,000 students across their multiple campuses, with their Bedford Park campus their main grounds.
This partnership will see the Reds become even more active in the community, including in the southern suburbs. It will also provide Flinders University with more visibility among the thousands of young men and women playing the game at clubs and schools in SA.
This exciting partnership will see the Club establish a southern hub for a range of varying operations while also offering unique pathways for Flinders’ students into professional sport.
Adelaide United will also have opportunities to access Flinders’ renowned facilities to further its sports science programs.
Speaking on the partnership, Adelaide United Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Kosmina, said: “We are thrilled to work with one of the most exciting and ambitious universities in Australia. “We share many similar values, particularly around sport, education, and the well-being of young people. “We will work together across the South Australian community at various levels. “As part the partnership we have the opportunity to enhance our sports science programs through Flinders University’s knowledge and resources, as well as provide students with unique industry experiences. “We’re very excited to get this partnership underway and are looking forward to a prosperous relationship.” Director of the SHAPE Research Centre at Flinders University, Professor Murray Drummond, said: “The agreement with Adelaide United will reinforce Flinders’ position at the forefront of sports science research and for giving our students essential opportunities to work within leading clubs – to benefit from real world experience. “Sport is pivotal to our health and wellbeing, is an important social connector, and is a significant economic driver. “By working with AUFC, Flinders can make advances that will benefit not just Adelaide United’s performance and profile but make a difference across the community. “It all adds up to how Flinders can contribute more to a positive, active, and healthy society.”

Two things to address from yesterday's win. I'm not on the We Are The Reds forum, though I do read it sometimes.
We need to be better at how we win as fans. I've seen it too often where our lack of stoicism when times are good leads us down a bad path when times are bad later. Celebrating before the job is done. It's a long season and we have had a few bad weeks recently. Yesterday was an important win, but there's a long way to go. We love giving it to Victory but we know it wont be fun when they give it back to us in hard times. Food for thought.
Secondly, is anyone keeping tabs on Adelaide players abroad in the A-League? For example, two starters yesterday - Elvis Kamsoba was one of Victory's best players on ground, and he still has family in Adelaide. I actually wonder whether his style might suit the Reds better than Victory as things currently stand. Also, Jay Barnett had his debut start yesterday. He is one of Victory's scholarship players. Originally from Adelaide; according to wikipedia his youth career in the A-League began at Brisbane Roar, though some time at the SA NTC is mentioned. Does anyone know much about him?

Not sure about Barnett, he was pretty quiet all night and Halloran had a great night up and down the right wing, made him look every bit a debutante at times.
