Unfortunately (and I do mean this sincerely) I can see AU getting cut loose at the bottom over the next few weeks.
A rudderless, leaderless, sinking ship.

I kind of feel for you guys, being bottom is a shit feeling, and we've had it for 1 and a half years.
I look forward to next Friday night's match. Could go a long way for both teams.
May the best team win.

From here on in the message has to be crystal clear. The way the club is currently performing is not acceptable. The way the club is currently being managed - the backroom operations - is not acceptable. ..... Last week I was driving past Hindmarsh stadium and I saw someone standing out the front of the Reds office. The guy was staring into space with a very troubled look on his face. He was puffing heavily on a cigarette. It was Sam Ciccarello.

United red alert on world stage VAL MIGLIACCIO November 30, 2009 12:00am
..KEYSTONE Kops defending, impotent attack, uninventive, distracted.
Adelaide United will risk taking these traits to the international club stage next year.
Its untimely form slump coincides with the Asian Football Confederation's 2010 Champions League group stage draw in Kuala Lumpur next Monday.
Adelaide is in serious danger of embarrassing the tricolor badge, the state and Australian football if it cannot arrest this season's inconsistent A-League form slump and takes it to Asia for group home and away Champions League matches from February until May.
Japan's Gamba Osaka, Kashima Antlers, Korea Republic's Pohang Steelers and China's Changchun Yatai - clubs that Adelaide faced and conquered except for Gamba during its wonderful journey to last year's Champions League final - must be hoping they draw the Reds based on current form.
Mediocrity set in last Saturday night when United went down 1-2 to North Queensland Fury in Townsville.
Adelaide skipper Travis Dodd says he did not want to enter his third Champions League campaign with the club sitting at the wrong end of the A-League table.
"The last thing we want to do is finish down the bottom of the table going into a Champions League campaign as well," Dodd said.
"But we've still to worry about our A-League season. There's 11 games to go.
"The finals are still achievable. This season is not dead and buried.
"We put in a performance (in Townsville) which wasn't good, it was ordinary.
"We're very disappointed with the way we played."
Adelaide's defeat in Townsville was riddled with inadequacies - off and on the park.
However the disastrous loss could potentially fast-track its ownership crisis which is closer to being resolved.
Passionate SA businessman Alan Young is understood to be confident of getting his 24-people consortium across the line by signing off in the next fortnight but the changeover could be months away.
In the interim Adelaide needs a lifeline or its goodwill could suffer if it continues its win-less league streak which is now five games and six weeks old. The cracks are appearing via its results. The Football Federation Australia surely does not want a repeat of its clubs underperforming on the Champions League stage after the Central Coast didn't win a match in the tournament and finished bottom of their group this year.
Newcastle Jets were belted 0-6 in the second round by eventual Champions League 2009 champion Pohang Steelers. And while FIFA has Australia as the highest ranked nation in Asia the AFC assessment has the A-League as the sixth ranked competition.
Our season is doomed but if the ownership stuff is sorted soon we may come good just in time for the ACL. But that depends on whether Vidmar is still our coach. He simply does not field our best 11 players and i'm sick of his shit.

Damn right he is not fielding the best team we could put on the park. I have no idea why he isn't, it can't be that hard to tell who on our roster can give us our best results, can it? He is sticking with Hughes? and Pants? but not Jamo!? and Barbiero!? Straight swap them IMNSHO. Fyfe, he is a CB - Mullen is a CB as well, but at least he can play effectively as a RB, something that Fyfe will never do. Another straight swap. Dodd needs to be dropped as well, play with Cristiano or (preferably) Owusu. I am so amazingly depressed by how our season is going. Especially as Merrick seems to have figured out how to not end at the bottom of the ladder the season after finishing top.

Is he even trying to put the best team out there or is he playing a game of favourites and politics. Something like "I'll teach you a lesson Jamo - you can sit on the bench. There, that showed him who's boss. Sure it will hurt the team but he can sit on the bench anyway". Just WTF is going on down there? Really what needs to happen is for Viddie to admit his team selections are just plain wrong and field a completely different side for the Newcastle game. Hey, we havent won a game in 5 rounds so what harm could it do? This is the left field line up I would go for: Galaka (C) Mullen - Cornflakes - Rudan - Jamo Reid (VC) Leckie - Sarkies - Barbs Monterosso - Owusu

I'd have Marrone in RB even after his long lay off with the injury. I still want Cristiano to be partnered with Owusu, since they've only ever been given that real chance once in the season against Wellington at Westpac Stadium. Galekovic (C) Marrone - Cornflakes - Rudan - Jamieson Reid (VC) Leckie - Sarkies - Barbiero Cristiano - Owusu
Bench: Cassio, Birighitti, Mullen, Dodd Edit: Possible even give Shin a chance instead of Dodd on the bench, and bring him on at halftime to replace Cristiano, and Leckie to be pushed up. Edited by RedsUnited: 30/11/2009 12:00:39 PM

(Hughes/Pantelis) • 2 great midfielders who get to stay on the bench? (Barbiero/Jamieson) • 2 other midfielders playing as strikers? (Leckie/Dodd) • 1 great left back playing in the midfield? (Cassio) • The club wants to hunt yet another midfielder? (Flores) WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? A MIDFIELDER’S CONVENTION??? Welcome to the M.A.S: Midfielders Appreciation Society

Edited by RedsUnited: 30/11/2009 12:00:39 PM I like this but - as always :) - I'd make a couple of changes. Galekovic (C) Mullen- Cornflakes - Rudan - Cassio Reid (VC) Leckie - Barbiero- Jamo Cristiano - Owusu
Bench: Sarkies, Birighitti, Marrone, Dodd Sarkies for Reid at 45 (work him back in). Dodd for either Cristiano or Owusu (depends who's firing) at 45 with Leckie moving up. Marrone onfor one of the defenders at 65 to give him some game time. Why does everyone sound so realistic and sensible and yet everyone is so far from what the coaches are doing. Are we mad - or are they? I'm opting for them.

I ask myself the same question.. Am i mad? stupid? blind? But when i come onto here and see very similar lineups, it removes ALL doubt. This reminds me of Kosmina. Refused to start Burns or Djite, and when he did, he NEVER had them playing together. It used to drive me crazy. And where the hell are they now boys!?!?

Sir Alex. Tactical genius. Motivator par exellence. Genuine hair-dryer. That'd put a bloody rocket up the players. I very much doubt he'd play favourites or reward mediocrity.
Plus, he could buy us some new players with his pocket-money.

Interesting interview with Mark Rudan and everybody's favourite Advertiser journalist. Obviously NOT a happy camp. http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0,22606,26429201-12428,00.html

Quite simply the best interview I have read out of the Reds camp for a long time. It is refreshing to hear someone take a stand - without all the BS and well worn cliques. The BRM should be congratulated for having the balls to tell it how it is and without fear. It will be interesting to see if the club reacts badly to this interview.

I read that this morning as well, good on him. But will the boys actually listen? Viddie is right on one thing, heads need to roll. BRM is right that the players need to stand up and retake the season. They should feel bloody embarrassed by the way they have been playing, the world is watching. I second Stephen. If we are going to replace Viddie then we need Sir Alex, anyone else then we may as well stick with Viddie and see what comes of it. I like everyones line ups, but I would be happier, with the sheer volume of midfielder stocks we have, to play a back 3 (after all we are rich in CBs as well). That would allow us to utilise 2 holding mids with an attacking mid, two wide players and 2 forwards. A bloody agressive lineup and one AUFC certainly has the personnel to pull off. Unfortunately it looks like our players are breaking down again, the loss of Leckie is going to be heartwrenching...

To the tune of take me out to the ballgame.
Victory have no direction, They dont know where they are. They think north is south and east is west, they dont even realise that Adelaides best. Thompson is a poofta, Muscat is a fag. cause its (pointing to the real directions) North, South, East, and West If you had a brain.
first chant i ever came up with, not great, lol.
