I've just seen Vidmar's 'Jesus' comment - here's a quote from the AdelaideNow article Quote:Even the addition of "Jesus" to his attack, said Vidmar, couldn't have delivered United victory against Central Coast on Friday, so sloppy was its ball movement and transition to the final third. "You could have had Jesus Christ up there on Friday and we just couldn't play very well in terms of keeping the ball," Vidmar lamented. The man's a dead set plonker. Apart from the unsuitablity of the comment (no, I'm not a fanatical christian, I just don't think the comment was appropriate), where we need someone with divine authority is on the bench, someone to give Vidmar a whack across the head and 'whisper' in his ear: DON'T GO ALL DEFENSIVE YOU IDIOT! The rest of the article was talking about some game I apparently didn't see even though I could have sworn he was talking about the match on Friday night that I had indeed attended - my coffee must've been stronger than I thought. Tonight's another game. I wonder if he's bought a new script, surely they're available on the internet somewhere. Richard

So where to from here?:-k
After last night I cant stop thinking about where our future lies.
Whats your thoughts on our current crop of players and their future with the club?
Heres some of mine starting with our strikers:
Cristiano - 28 YO. Brazilian. This season stats = 13 games started. 25 attempts on goal. 3 goals. Verdict = Time to go. Too slow. Out of favour. Inconsistent. Taking up a valuable international slot.
Owusu - 33 YO. Ghanian/English. This seasons stats = 8 games started. 13 attempts on goal. 1 goal. Verdict = Time to go. Too slow. Inconsistent. Taking up a valuable international slot. Bad ROI for the club (return on investment).
Monterosso - 18 YO. Adelaide boy. This seasons stats = senior team - 35 mins played over 4 games (subbed on very late in all four games). 0 goals. Youth team - 12 goals 09/10 season. 13 goals 08/09 season. Verdict = the kid should be started consistently for the rest of the season. There is more chance he will score than Owusu and Cristiano. He is our future.

I am thinking future too BU. Leckie to have surgery if it is required now. He needs to be our Youth Marquee if that is required to keep him for the next 4 seasons. Owusu has potential still, he just doesn't pull the trigger for some reason. Kept looking to play others into the game, which is all well and good but they need to be sharper. What I saw last night made me think: if he had been playing all those games instead of Cristiano would the rest of the team (especially Leckie) have scored a lot more goals? I think so. Cristiano needs to go sadly. Pants, can't wait to see the back of him. He may be our top scorer but he has sucked. Glad he wont be at the MV game. Monterosso needs to be in the senior team. End of. Once again that was a game that summed up our season.

I can see what your saying and I'm a big supporter of Monterosso ( his injury time winner last night made the night worthwhile ), but as the Youth team has a chance and is a well organised team, I would prefer him in the youth team. The seniors are no hope now, so I figure don't waste his talent on a lost cause. The senior teams defence is iffy and I was left scratching me head over Jamo playing in the youth team, and subbing Shin after 10 mins for Hughes was just plain stoopid!!

That's a pretty good point. Maybe we should keep him out of the seniors so that he can help the Baby Reds to a title. Still, it would be nice for him to get some experience with the big boys too. Tough one :-k I rate the NYL in terms of quality and speed.. it aint too bad. If it were up to me, i would honestly give Monterosso a contract for the ACL. He and Leckie can inflict a shit load of pain up front.

I will coincidentally be in Melbourne this weekend and have not made plans for saturday night as of yet. Now...should i go to the game and put myself through the pain just to experience the big crowds of melbourne, or should i just forget about it. I wouldn't wear my colours though coz my partner hates when i get in arguments with people and it would just be us two and i know i will find it impossible not to answer back when getting given shit by little hardcore melbourne fans. ;)

I would go for the atmosphere. Big crowds are sweet!

Yeah...time to work on the lady friend now.
She's only been to the ACL grand final and the last Melbourne game(at Hindmarsh. we were near the fights and victory crew, my mistake). She thought i was quite amusing and was a novelty how depressed I was at the Gamba game(she doesnt get sport) but it was the Melbourne game that has put her off. She said i was a hooligan and turned into a bogan that night. Ahahaahaaa....that may well be true but geez i hate Melbourne!!!!
I will admit i can get a little passionate at the games o:)

LOL! I love the banter between both our groups of supporters! Too much history between us I reckon. Even if it has been a bit lop-sided lately.
I have a feeling we will win this Saturday. Gut feeling. And then we will win all the remaining games of the season, with a few other results falling in our favour and we end up in the finals by pure luck.
Or maybe it's just gas...

this may be just a formality from here on in but anyway.... The Advertiser today says that Sarkies is on the comeback trail, Reid has a corked thigh and Hughes has a corked thigh. Cassio has a calf tear. Pantelis out with the Red card. So where does that leave us for the Victory game? Something like this maybe?: Galaka Mullen - Fyfe - Rudan - Jamo Marrone Dodd - Barbs - Leckie Owusu - Monterosso Bench: Shin Crisitano Cornflakes Alemao Birighitti Looks ok actually. We may just win.8-[

I am actually very nervous for this game.
United know they have lost 8 in a row against us and will want to end that. It's going to be all about who wants it more I think.......

It's certainly possible that we could win if the biys go out without fear and without expectation. How about no-one says, "It's a mini-final" this week, eh?
That being said, MV are looking great at the moment (kills me to say that) and there's no guarantee Viddie will play his best team available. In fact, almost a guarantee he won't. Sadly.

We play well when we have that "nothing left to lose" attitude. Just wait and see - come Saturday night we will go out there an unleash hell on the Victory. Should be a good game. If Viddie plays anything less than our best team available against the Victory he should be hung. There is still pride on the line here. Even though the season is over for us I cant handle losing to the Victory anymore. I just cant. We need to win it. We need to start our best 11 players. We cannot accept anything less than a win. The only thing that worries me about this game is what Muscat has in store for young Leckie. A thigh kick? An ass stomp? An elbow to the twins? Who know? Whatever it is I hope he doesnt do any seriuos damage to the young kid.

davidtorres wrote:When teams come and attack against us though we usually thrash them! And so it begins. We have nothing to lose, so we might just replicate the behaviour of Kevin Muscat. 6 red cards and 6 broken legs, I think 5 a side sounds good. Bring it on!

My team is pissed off and they are coming there for nothing less than a win. Speaking to them the other day at the fans day - one thing became apparent - they were more focussed on beating the Victory than Perth. If Ben Williams turns up to ref the game it will turn into a complete fiasco however...

I hope Strebre Delovski is ref, for the sake of both teams. If Williams or even Breeze are officiating then the victory for us won't be as good......

As much as i don't care anymore, but in the ultra-rare moment that AU do decide to attack Melbourne, then we will win it. Last year's grand final is a clear game which will back that statement up. Every other game againt Melbourne we've been punished for doing the exact opposite. But of course, talking about last year's grand final only pisses me off even more given what happened yesterday.

and for the record i think we'll get done on Saturday night.
If we go out too angry on Sat night, we will lose our cool and get pillaged. And of course i cite the 06/07 grand final to back that statement up.
If we go out on the attack but remain cool and calm, we've got a great chance, but overcoming this mental barrier and the shocking season will make it very difficult.

I hold no hope of us winning anything else this season. All I care about is the boys playing the game they love and doing it well. If we win, lose or draw, eh. (unless of course we actually beat MV and then I am going to crow like crazy - also I expect this attitude to completely evaporate once the RCGs slip on by accident come game day, or any other excuse really! :D)
