Bring on the season, I say. Am I the only optimist here? :D

I hope we get to see more of Shin, Monterosso and Costa this year. Hopefully they've worked hard in the off-season, and are fighting fit to feature in the games this year.

I hope Owusu comes out firing with van Dijk in a 4-4-2, even a 3-5-2 if we're game.

I hope we use our pace on the wings with Dodd and Leckie, and with Flores and Barbiero advancing higher up the pitch.

I hope that Hughes shows us that his recent ACL form was not a fluke and that he really can play for the shirt.

And most of all, I just hope we've gotten over the curse of the calf injuries... :p

You aren't the only optimist but the club hasn't been giving us much to be optimistic about. However all will be forgiven if we sign up a coach with UEFA Champions League experience 8-[

As for formations, I would love to see us play 3-5-2 =p~

They said that members will receive information from the 30th of June. They probably only sent it out today and you'll probably get it in the next day or two.

Yeah I just reread the page, and noticed the from. BUT if season tickets go on sale from this Friday, I'd expect to get the package in the post in the next couple of days. Unless Ticketek are being fucktards again.

I spoke to a guy from the club today and he said that it's tomorrow, but then he went on about receiving plastic membership cards in the mail and paying by phone or online.
Methinks that no-one really knows and they're just sticking to the media release from the club, but the grass-roots release @ specified local clubs seems to be what the United has under control - unlike Tiketek and Australia post.

My recommendation is to not sweat it, wait until Monday at least then pay for them directly @ Tiketek outlets ( preferably Hindmarsh. )
As we are devoted supporters, who have been consistent members we'll be fine as there's over a month according to the grass-roots media release.
If nothing's happened by mid July start becoming concerned!

This article was posted on its own thread a few days ago but i thought i'd post it in here in case anyone missed it. I never met Jurgen but anyone who has been to Hindmarsh more than once would recognise his face immediately... RIP.

RIP Jurgen.

Puts into perspective my difficulties in getting my membership pack...

Here is my trial so far:
1, Pack has not yet arrived.
2, Ticketek AUFC member hotline is not connected.
3, Alternate phone number for the department is connected but they have their message on stating that their office is closed and only open between 9am & 5pm AET Monday to Friday
4, AUFC's membership manager is not in the office...

All I want to do is confirm the postal address they are sending my member pack to!

Oh 1pm today they anounce our new coach.

Dutchman Rini Coolen says he'll take a crash course in preparing Adelaide United after being named coach of the A-League club.

The 43-year-old former coach of Dutch premier league outfit FC Twente will coach the Reds for the next two years after being selected from 60 applicants to replace Aurelio Vidmar, who has been appointed a national assistant coach.

United chose to ignore the strong claims of Vidmar's longtime assistant Phil Stubbins, while Frank Farina is also believed to have applied for the role.

Advertisement: Story continues belowAdelaide are owned by Football Federation Australia, and the national body's predilection for Dutch football nous was demonstrated by FFA technical director Han Berger's strong advocacy of Coolen for the job.

Coolen acted as a scout for ex-Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek during Australia's World Cup qualifying campaign.

He will return to Adelaide just three weeks before their A-League opener on August 6.

"I have to know a lot of things more about the players," Coolen told reporters in Adelaide on Monday.

"I have to know more about the team, that is for sure."

Coolen returns to Holland on Tuesday armed with DVDs of Adelaide games, and an open mind.

"I have to wait for the games and the training sessions if it's true what I have heard about them," he said of United's players.

"I don't want too much information from people ... I want to see for myself."

Coolen, who spent 12 years as a player in the Netherlands, said his coaching style was typically Dutch.

"I'm a Dutch coach, so you think in a Dutch way," he said.

"I prefer to play with good organisation, with a lot of goal chances, a lot of technical moments, not too much high balls ... everybody wants to play like that.

"But if you are a good coach, you have to analyse your players, what can they do, and what they don't, and that I have to find out, I have to take time for that.

"The way you want to play depends on the quality of the players.

"I am going to find out if it's possible with this squad, if it's not, then we have to take time."
