I'm on deadline so no chance today. Have to agree that the timing is somewhat silly. But that's our wonderful club! Haphazard in true Adelaide style.

I got sent home from work today, coz I'm sick and would infect my patients. That, and I can't really talk much because of my throat at the moment, so making my job all the much harder.

Was reasonable crowd whilst I was there, not as big as it would have been if done last week (though there were a reasonable number of kids playing hookey) and didn't get much of a chance to talk to the players. SVD was back in town so it was a fly in fly out from Indonesia for him.

Quote: Squad named for Adelaide friendly Thursday, 22 July 2010 Dave Mitchell has named a 16 man squad for tomorrow nights friendly match against Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium. The pre season clash will be the Glory’s second last hit-out before the season opener against North Queensland Fury on Friday, August 6 at nib Stadium (formerly ME Bank Stadium). Here are the declarations of Coach Dave Mitchell just before the side flew to South Australia. On Adelaide United: “Yeah, they’ve done quite well in pre season. This will be a good test for us and we will be trying a few things out.” The benefits of this match: “A lot of players playing 90 minutes, a bit of shape and how we are going to line up. “We’re getting closer and closer to the start of the season so we are also looking at certain players to play different roles. “We’ll take what we can out of the game and look at a couple of set moves so there is a few things we’ll look at.” The first game of the season: “There are a couple of players we just want to monitor and get them on the park. Those players aren’t travelling but hopefully by kick-off they will be with us.” The squad is: Tando VELAPHI, Josh MITCHELL, Jamie COYNE, Jamie HARNWELL, Jacob BURNS, Michael BAIRD, Branko JELIC, Scott NEVILLE, Adriano PELLEGRINO, Todd HOWARTH, Naum SEKULOVSKI, Aleks VRTESKI, Mile STERJOVSKI, Anthony SKORICH, Andrija JUKIC, Joshua RISON. Perth Glory’s final pre season clash will be the Call to Arms Cup against the WA State team on Wednesday, July 28 at E & D Litis Stadium, Mt Hawthorn. Kick off is at 7pm with proceeds going to the Cancer Council WA. http://www.a-league.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&id=34314

Though if memberships are closing off on the Ticketek system they will be able to give us some numbers, or at least a reason why they don't want to release them.

I'm not going to Hindmarsh tonight because I've spat the dummy!
I've been a member since AU's inception and think " if they can give a load of 13yo girls free tix, surely my support should've been rewarded "
$14.50 for entry does not sit well with me!

Nothing happened. I just rocked up to the gate - $13.00 in hand, only to be told it was an extra $1.50 for booking fee ( WTF!! they were just sitting there and I felt " Why am I paying someone elses { Ticketek } wages for doing zilch!! )
Then I went inside to be amused by 2 x U17 girls teams whose support was mainly from young girls who I found out had been given FREE tix!!
So this week I choose not to go, and I've heard that Robbie Fowler is not playing ( not that it concerns me )

What happened v Perth? Stubbins coached reds - 2 wins; Rini takes reigns - loss x 2 goals?
I heard Hughes slipped back to last years form. Reid was bad. Boogard & Fyfe lost all that assurance they had against the Nix, and the trialist keeper ( Kigashi? ) was hopeless - what happened to Andreucci? I thought he was 3rd choice keeper.
OK a lot of first choice guys were missing and it was a trial match, but you'd expect the team to have gelled and get better from the last hitout. We really do need a win against NQ for team confidence.

Against the Nix we had Birra in goal and he was pretty vocal towards the defenders and keeping them in shape. I can't help that feel if we had him or Eugene back in goal, we might have even kept a clean sheet. I didn't hear anything out of our trailist keeper.
Don't forget that this was Rini's first game in charge. He's only been in the country a few days so he's obviously not going to know the team all that well yet.

From what I've heard as well, having both Reid and Hughes out there was excessive, when one of them could have done the job in a holding role better, with the other midfielder in a more advanced or wide position. I've also heard that Cassio didn't have as many chances on the wings as he normally does, and he was positioned more centrally - which is a weird move for me. If I remember correctly, ducky also mentioned Shin is looking quick and agile, but has still yet to find his footballing nous, and Ramsay was a step up from last week.

Just checked my ordering status on Ticketek, and it looks as though my Friday Night Shout tickets have been 'Closed' off as well. So my four tickets have been allocated for the Victory game at Adelaide Oval. My payment has gone through, and I'm all set for the new season. Sweet!
Now all I gotta do is wait for my seating confirmation...

Yeah I was too quick with Rini's failure, and the disorganised backline was probably due to no general telling them what was what.
On a brighter note it seems that Birighitti is doing well in the U19 championships. I hope he decides to stick around for a while, if Eugene goes we will need him

Good to hear that Birra's doing well over there.
You'd think our Memberships would start arriving this week. Although it is Ticketek, so I guess in true Ticketek fashion, they'll arrive at the last second after everyone has gone into panick.

If you've got that member card they sent out in the renewal pack, yours would be activated already.

Ticketek generally send the tickets in the last 5 days so I would not expect them before Mon/Tues next week.

You see, in the normal world where me and you live in, pre-order is a sales incentive to get people on board sooner at a discounted rate. The club wins as they get an indication on tix sales and can gage interest in the game, and can decide to invest on more resources or promotion for the game. The fan wins because he pays less. Quite simple. But in the Ticketek world, things are very, very different
