+xTough call on Genreau. If I had to choose between him getting severe concussion, broken nose and being out of next week's game or conceding the penalty I'm glad it was the penalty. I'm all for the hand ball rule being black and white and if the arm is raised up and away from the body it's a penalty regardless of intention. But in this case where it was in front of his face is some common sense needed? Agree on this. As the hand was in front of his face there is a clear argument that he didn't make his body any bigger, so I think it already fits in with the current rules, so to my thinking a penalty should not have been given.

big comeback by brisbane. they were virtually absent for the first 50 or 60 minutes. neither team seemed able to come out of their own half facing the wind. it would be interesting to see a heat map half by half.

+xGenreau penalty as clear as day and wonderful to see it given. If you are stupid/slow/poorly positioned and you have to rush at the ball and put your hand up, it is a clear penalty. Cop one on the noggin, or just stand back, but don't piss and moan when you rush at the ball and then have to put your hand up to stop it hitting you in the face. Great to see the rules being enforced to make players play better. firstly i can understand the decision and don't begrudge it. but i have a question. i dont think he was stupid/slow/poorly positioned. it wasn't his noggin, it was coming right at his face. do you get a penalty if your hand protects your balls? would you rather a ball at your face that would probably break your nose, or one into your groin?

A player protecting his face from being struck with the ball is not a penalty. And there are real risk to player health by being struck by a ball in the face. Soccer is the most common cause of sports-related eye injuries in Europe and Israel https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamaophthalmology/fullarticle/415310And there is evidence that having played soccer increases the risks of brain dgenertinbe brain disease by 3.5 and 5 times more lilely https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/10/21/footballers-five-times-likely-suffer-alzheimers-disease-landmark/https://thenewdaily.com.au/life/science/2019/10/22/soccer-brain-risk/There's a risk that if this rule persists , players may suffer injuries and the sport may be held responsible. Its all fun and games until someone loses and eye...

+xDid the groundsmen have a big lunchtime session before marking out the halfway line I was sat rightly on the halfway line - one of the oddest things I’ve seen lol.

+xJameson was poor and Griffiths worse. The 2 Uruguayans are failing to deliver. You'd think that the CFG could be do better. Is that Luna and Cabrera? I was terrified every time they got the ball - and more often than not they got in behind us and looked deadly.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Compared to some of his early tackles, McGing's effort wasn't cardable. Still, we needed him for the penalty, so all good in the end.

Great to see the rules being enforced to make players play better. One hundred percent correct ..last season it may not have been a penalty as it may have been considered ball to hand. The new definitions state that if the arm is raised above shoulder height regardless of whether intentional, ball to hand etc .....it is now a penalty ...doesn't matter if you like it or not ( I don't ) .

+xThese are the types of capitulations that have held heart/City back for a decade, was jmac hurt when he was subbed? Strange decision. Yes the same thought occurred to me. All the hallmarks of line of gutless performances going back for years. At 3-1 up it was plain that the team stopped playing, thinking the game was done. Griffths was a major problem. He was was off the pace and disinterested.

it's amazing how many people think that you can raise your arm to protect your face and get away with it?! where do these people get their football knowledge from?

Good stuff Brisbane. Tipped them to win this. Good to see Robbie show some growth too. Roar on Front foot are better. The defence does look weak when not sitting deep but that can be fine tuned.

+xCity have scored 6 goals in 2 games without Jmac while Roar have scored 1 in 4 with their main striker in every game..................... Roar to lose this one 2 nill. +xSo the undefeated team has its star striker back .Bad timing... MC will absolutely score as they have in every game. So unless you believe in miracles there is no way Brisbane can score two or more goals to win this unfortunately. Best result for Brisbane is a draw. But a loss seems likely. 0-2
