What was Deng given at half time? He has been much better in this half.

+xSloppy keeping by Glover, should have stopped the first shot that hit the post. Absolutely - he had the right position to actually get his body behind it and catch it - just too slow. At worst he should have turned it round the corner.

In all honesty though 5 min is about right due to those Thai players being down.
Now we can fake it a bit. Najjarine slowing it.

Unbelievably poor finishing there by three players.

Fuck. Me. Put it away! That is diabolical. Toure does well to cross. Daggers fucks it but it rolls to Narajjine who accidentally rolls the ball behind himself instead of shooting. His ensuing cross is on a platter for Toure who casually swings at it.
Nervous now. Thailand will score.

Send him home.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

When your fat wrist accidentally hits the skill joystick while playing Fifa. Fuck me. Toure decent at beating man though. Corner Australia

Unreal performance second half. Blew them away and should have won 4-1. Well in lads!

Winner! Games last 90min. Genreau and Toure were solid subs. Piscopo and D'Agostino had a good day. Thankfully Gersbach and Deng recovered well.

Deng is a far superior RB than he is CB.

+xCap Piscopo. What a player. If Arnold brings any player from this Olyroos squad to Copa America. Should be him. Toure looks so good too

Arnie’s half time team talk and sub choices worked wonders. Love having such an experienced and high quality manager looking after the U23s instead of the usual ex-player trainee coaches we’ve always had in the past.

Thailand certainly overstretched themselves. By no means were we fantastic bar a few moments but we held firm and that was a good second half.
Piscopo and Toure need capping soon. Gersbach and Ryan desperately need club minutes.

Shoutout to Toure too who looked the goods. He and Piscopo are definitely our two shining lights in this team.

I was really disappointed with Italiano. A mix of rubbish play and straight-up anonymity for long periods.

I thought Gersbach improved a great deal in this match compared to his Iraq performance. Should add further sharpness the deeper we go into the tournament.

De-ja-vous in the first half again, again no control and just gave Thailand too much of the ball.
But Arnie brought on Genreau into midfield and it changed the game as he’s the only player that’s able to control the tempo in that midfield area.
Piscopo was our best player in the last game and confirms in this match he’s now our most important player with his two vital passes leading to the goals.
Italiano on the right wasn’t effective, Bouman was largely ineffective as No.10 as well so we some more work in other crucial areas of the pitch.
Would not mind more of Najjarine on the right and funny enough Daggers as the No.10.
Now to do the same against Bahrain and prepare for the biggest game in Australian Football in a long time.

I mostly agree with this comment, however having both the Senior Mens and under 23 Mens roles at the same time is a tough balancing act given the key windows to prepare the OLyroos are FIFA dates, doubling up with Socceroos dates.

+xI was really disappointed with Italiano. A mix of rubbish play and straight-up anonymity for long periods. He seemed so moody and complained to the ref a lot. Every cross went into the sky. No idea.

This was a genuinely outstanding second half performance. Much closer to the fluid high scoring Arnieball that we saw at Sydney FC. Genreau and Toure need to start every game, so too D’Agostino and Piscopo. Those 4 and Deng and Duncan are players that should be playing for the Socceroos sooner rather than later. D’Agostino is a fantastic striker who needs to get the f**k out of Popa’s Perth ASAP if he wants to have any sort of a career. He could be a real player under a coach who gives him time and plays him regularly.
