+xI don't think they'd come out and announce it in the media like this if they didn't think it was a pretty realistic possibility. The backlash if it turns out to be bullshit would be huge. Especially after the Western United shambles

+x+xWaz Any thoughts on where... could it be Perry Park ... A guy I met at Gosford who was a travelling Roar fan, suggested there could be some big news about Perry Park coming... BTW no idea who he was as we were sharing a common bar and just got talking all things Football... and the A-League... Unfortunately I don’t think it’s Perry Park, Strikers don’t want Roar there, and local residents don’t want a stadium there so too problematic.
I’m not sure it can cope with regular 10k crowds either. It’s all very well saying “there’s a train station” but four trains an hour would be lucky to move 5,000 people.
There’s a number of smaller sporting sites across Brisbane that are under utilised (the outdoor velodrome, Albion Park, several rugby venues, a couple of athletic venues ... Chandler would be a pretty good option long term.

I’m basing my comments on complaints after the cup games held there in the recent past Suncorp having the bridge as a direct link to Milton certainly helps. If anyone ever did anything at Perry Park, they'd surely have to built a tunnel underneath the main Road so people could avoid crossing at the lights.

One is a once off massive event every few years while the other is small and weekly. I'm not talking about moving the crowds, I'm talking about getting the crowds there, if you think 10k+ people will be catching the bus or driving there every week then you are dreaming. Its all about convenience, which a close by train (5-10 min walk to stadium) is needed, especially with the a-league being up and down, if people find it hard to get to the venue they will stay home and just watch on tv.

It’s chandler for you but it could be Richlands for others and so on ...
Roar have to understand this ... and try and mitigate what they can
But fans also have to understand there are limitations - close to the CBD is expensive land, close to railway lines is also expensive ... there will be no one location that please everyone

I think the article was referring to a public/private partnership. So Roar, city, state and Feds.

Transport links could just be buses and cars I guess though, not trainline.

As I posted on the roar page, Victory Park Golf course is going to be a golf course no more. It plan to be a park and function center. But the lands not very flat. Only really on the RBH side.

I'd be interested to see the breakdown of people who drive vs public transport to Hindmarsh Stadium actually.
I feel like a pretty large % would drive or especially did before the tram line.

But the vision for that is to turn it in to a Central Park for Brisbane not private land. Plus there’s no transport there.

I don't know much about Brisbane other than visiting for a week once but from searching on Google Earth and Google Maps I've always thought that Western Districts Rugby Clubs set up at Toowong Memorial Park could become a great boutique stadium. The existing structure on the western side of the ground already covers the 100m length try line to try line and the existing seating could be increased from 300 to say 1,000 capacity. The continuous floor to ceiling glazing on the first floor would be able to be modified for corporate boxes etc.. On the other 3 sides a single tier roofed stand with a capacity of 10,000+ would finish off a nice upgrade. Pity about the large trees on the eastern side though.
NB. You can view the existing stand from ground level on the pitch on Google Maps. Just move the little yellow person onto the blue dot on the pitch.

I spend way too much time doing that on google maps with many stadiums all over the world. :) In fact just now at work I was giving myself a tour of the Castelao in Brazil, great stadium!
