There are 2 ways to make this decision.

As a herd-animal, "Such and such a country is doing it, so why can't we". That is herd mentality.

As a person that reviews the science, and is open to his assumptions being challenged by new data. For example, here a journal pre-print from doctors at the CDC. Their summary paragraph states:

And yet, in spite of medical scientific argument, there is a majority of people in society whose method of decision making is, "If they can do it, why can't we".

It is extremely rare to find people who base their decisions entirely on facts and data. Most people make decisions based on emotions - and the greatest emotion is the fear of not being among the majority.

For most people, if the majority is heading in one direction, for those types of people, no amount of data and evidence will turn them away from following the majority. To them, the "if they're doing it, why can't we" is so ingrained that it is virtually impossible to persuade them otherwise.

In any group of people, there will be people whose reasoning says, "If those other people do it, why can't we?" Notice this mantra, "If NSW and New Zealand can do it, why can't we?"

Herd mentality.

And if you explain this to someone who actually thinks, reasons and speaks like that -- and does not know how else to frame their reasoning - they will likely get furious, because they feel it is an insult to be accused of herd-thinking. Yet, logically, the statement - "If they can do it, why can't we?" -- is the essence of how to spot a herd-thinker.

Why can't you just review the above evidence, and make a decision based on scientific data, not just where the crowd is taking you?

Just because the EU are making it mandatory, doesn't mean we have to.

First, there may be people with medical reasons for not getting the vaccination.

Second, we already have high vaccination rates. What is herd immunity? It's definitely not 100%.

Third, even with 100% vaccinations, you still get breakthrough cases and there are also variants.
