At the risk of inviting nutjobs into the room I have a problem. I've had 2 lots of AZ. You can't get the booster until 5 months after your last dose. Dr Swan is saying this morning that data in the UK shows that AZ offers zero protection against Omnicron after 14-15 weeks. Today is roughly 15 weeks since I've had my second AZ. Rang the chemist and they said, nope, have to wait. I said what about Moderna or Pfizer. Nope, no can do. (As someone previously hospitalised wit the flu I'm not super happy about this because I suspect if I get it I'll be more affected than a regular person given I've had asthma in the past. (More or less grown out of it now.)) AZ or Pfizer should still provide strong protection against the severe disease/hospitalisation as this relies on memory T cell immunity rather than quick fading antibodies . A study in SA showed Pfizer recipients were 70% less likely to end up in hospital with omicron. Hopefully it's fairly similar situation with AZ.
