+xMorgans have had good leaders I guess over the decades maintaining connections I expect. Afterall your only as good as your opposition, many have come and gone or don't have the capacity of picking up good accounts. I have a son who has worked for 2 market research companies (still employed in one) and have attended a few research groups for x companies consumer research. If I wasn't suited he wouldn't ask me and some other family members have done so as well. They pick their audience and presto you have your wonderful favourable result, its not lying as you say. imo its like a stacked deck. So you are saying that Roy Morgan are rigging polls in favour of Dan Andrews? I just don't get what's in it for them to risk their whole business on lying on this particular poll. Murdoch media cites Roy Morgan all the time, and Nine commissioned them for their "worm" for their election coverage, so their right wing credentials should be well founded. End of the day, the only poll that matters is on 26 November 2022. Hopefully covid will be well in the rear view mirror by then. However, it might be noted that Roy Morgan also only had Andrews on a 52% TPP before he won a landslide in 2018, so maybe he's only going to do better, despite Murdoch's efforts.

German soccer team thrashed 37-0 after socially distancing from opponentGerman amateur side SG Ripdorf/Molzen II sacrificed a tight defence for social distancing as they fielded only seven players as a coronavirus precaution in a 37-0 loss to local rivals SV Holdenstedt II.
The preparations for Sunday's match in Lower Saxony's 3. Kreisklasse – the 11th tier of German football – were complicated when it emerged that Holdenstedt players had been in contact with an opponent infected with COVID-19 in a previous match. While all members of the Holdenstedt squad later tested negative for the virus, Ripdorf, from Uelzen in Lower Saxony, did not feel the conditions were safe and were able to field only seven players - the minimum number required for a match.
Holdenstedt showed no mercy and scored a goal nearly every two minutes, while their opponents watched on from a safe distance.
"When the game kicked off, one of our players passed the ball to the opponent and our team walked to the sidelines," Ristow said.

I can think of a few people I know in Melbourne who would beg to differ from David "I speak on behalf of everybody in Melbourne" Milner, and they're not the type to share Sky News clips or news.com articles either... I haven't visited The Shot before, but I gather it's the kind of site where the majority of the editorial staff think anybody moderately left of the Greens is fash adjacent? Not to say there aren't Australian right wing current affairs sites that are good for a chuckle (here's looking at you XYZ)...

I would love to see an alternate reality where the LNP had won the Victorian state elections, just to see if Betoota would've covered the last few months any differently...

I certainly also have anecdotes of a vocal minority of my social media contacts (friends, even) that have really jumped off the deep end as well, ranging from anti-Dan generic lockdown whinging to full-on conspiracy rabbit holes, but the Roy Morgan poll posted above is probably the best barometer of the views of the community at large that I've seen, unless someone can come up with a better one. I'm even more confident that the vast majority of Victorians view the anti lockdown protesters as selfish idiots. I haven't visited The Shot before, but I gather it's the kind of site where the majority of the editorial staff think anybody moderately left of the Greens is fash adjacent? Not to say there aren't Australian right wing current affairs sites that are good for a chuckle (here's looking at you XYZ)... I worry about the state of journalism is this country,
Journalist to Dan Andrews today; What is the science behind gym closures when there is no transmission there? Dan Andrews; That would be because they are closed.

Interesting in Europe right now, too early to jump to conclusions but the cases are skyrocketing yet the death toll has remained relatively low in the U.K, and France 10k new cases in France - 11 deaths 3800 U.K. - 18 deaths Netherlands - 1800 cases - 4 deaths And then there’s Sweden The article mentions that improved care and treatments is helping people survive, doctors are getting better at choosing who stays in hospital, the new cases aren’t being driven by aged care, and that people may be exposed to less of the virus resulting in a weaker infection,

Even Sky News has to admit it, albeit with a four sentence article that I couldn't find via their front page.
Majority of Victorians support Andrews' COVID response: Newspoll 22/09/2020|1min
Premier Daniel Andrews’ handling of the state’s second lockdown continues to be supported by the majority of Victorians.
A newspoll released by The Australian revealed 62 per cent of Victorians agree the premier has managed the crisis well despite the bungled hotel quarantine program and prolonged lockdowns.
Approximately 61 per cent of voters around the country including 57 per cent of Coalition voters say the restrictions in Victoria have been appropriate.
Approval for the Victorian Premiers’ handling of the virus has not changed since July but has not recovered from April when support fell from 85 per cent. https://www.skynews.com.au/details/_6193201865001

+x+xI would love to see an alternate reality where the LNP had won the Victorian state elections, just to see if Betoota would've covered the last few months any differently... Betoota are pretty good at having a crack at both sides. They are far more selective when attacking the sacred cows of the left though, whereas their attacks on conservative or right-leaning people/ targets are very much of the paint-by-numbers, boring cliches that have been done to death by other outlets. Whether that has to do with their own ideological leanings or not wanting to offend the audience they rely on for clicks/ shares and (overall) revenue, I can't decide.

Any idea that disagrees with your average urbanite Greens voter= far right propaganda pushed by MuRdOcH!1!1!1!1 or some silly conspiracy theory. It's probably not just a coincidence that in terms of visuals, it looks a lot like The Guardian...

I think a main reason why (using the figures in this post, and general assuming here, so I am probably/possibly wrong) our deaths per cases during these new waves would appear higher, is because a lot of it occurred in aged care.

15 new cases today in Victoria, on a Wednesday, fucking awesome.
Usually we see a cycle within the overall trend of lower cases around the weekend and higher numbers around midweek, so I wasn't surprised to see the small rise back up to 28 yesterday after the weekend's numbers in the teens, but going back down to 15 today is a pleasant surprise, and gives me a realistic hope of single digits by the weekend.
