Looks like we won’t be getting anymore quality Europeans playing as much as we used to. is this a chance for a league clubs to finally target Asian countries? When melbourne City had SafuWan Baharudin from Singapore it was so refreshing and I heard the people in Singapore loved it as well. So the benefits of getting players from Asian countries Are: Overseas exposure to the league Communities will get behind the players
For the players they will have more opportunities to move from the a league to Europe.
Players will try harder then European journeyman that are only here for a holiday
That’s my opinion I’d love to see more players from countries like India, Singapore, Syria and Thailand.
I guess some would argue these players are not up to the a league level but I’m interested to learn other opinions on this.

Serbia - Players are paid peanuts over there so HAL clubs might actually be able to afford them.

Local players. Clubs need to cut down costs, give the young local or high end NPL players a chance. It will be good long term for Australian football and the league.

Africa. So much untapped potential, and would be a boom in terms of transfer fees. Adama Traore is a perfect example. Scouted in Africa, became a star in the A-League, and had a good career in Europe. Would also attract increased interest in African communities both here and abroad.

South East Asia , they will have the most growth in world football and unlike the Chinese they actually give a flying about football. Should be 100% 3+1 , would also put us onside with the AFC.

Yep, my perfect world would be just scrap the salary cap, and enforce a 3+1 rule inline with the ACL. But that's a discussion for another topic

+xOur own would be a great start....delete this thread. So you’re saying NO visa players.
Is there a League in the world that says no to visa players?

Plenty of decent local based talent who should be promoted to stop the player recycling. I've always wanted to see one or two Central Asian players come.

Is there a League in the world that says no to visa players? Never said that all. Are you comparing the A-League to others around the world?

Is there a League in the world that says no to visa players? Never said that all. Are you comparing the A-League to others around the world? I may have misunderstood what you posted then. The Question was which overseas league the A League should target for recruitment to which you replied with words to the effect “none, plenty of local talent”.
Hence I assumed you were suggesting no visa players which would be unusual, barring perhaps North Korea all leagues seem to have some visa players in them.

I wouldn't say no visa players but max two. It's time the young boys started to get more time on the park. Why spend years developing at junior level only to have a road block at 18 19. How many visa players we see now that are just shit taking up stops. Might even get the football department to actually do the homework before signing a os player.

The 3+1 rule is only for the acl. Also stopping imports will take the league backwards. We have to be diligent about the imports though but saying no imports robs us of the berisha's , broichs, Castro's and the like

A club like CCM should really go down this route.

Serbia is a great call. Scandanavians have done well here in recent years.
If we do get streaming similar to NBA game pass up and running then it would be a great move to get the best couple of players from Thailand, Indonesia or Vietnam into the league.

As mentioned, nothing like your own backyard ! for starters. As for where else to source prospective players ? that can be anywhere. There's no need to pick specific areas/countries, the world is an oyster depending how far your reach is and budgets.
