There is virtually zero chance of GA giving an 18yo prodigy his first cap in a game that will define GA's managerial career. GA will rely on tried and true players, like his faves Ryan Grant and Mitch Duke, than dare experiment with youth. We will be lucky to make it past UAE if I'm being honest.

Sad but true unfortunately. He didn’t pick him for the Japan SA games he won’t pick him for these ones.

+xValpato in the Primavera team of the season at CAM. 11 goals & 4 assists - outstanding for a 17/18 yr old playing in an "u23's"/ reserves comp. What, he's run on for 3/4 games for AC Roma & scored a goal this season - I still think he should be selected in the next Socceroos squad & get a cap. He can definitely be our next Harry K, so we can't afford to lose him!! It's not an u23s comp lol..... Juve's U23s play in the Serie C with men. Not sure why Roma don't have an u23 team - guess its easier to get them into the first team by just skipping the u23 route haha

Primavera is an U20 comp.
Good on him for doing well there but that doesn’t mean he’s made it professionally, nor does it mean he’s good enough to play for the national team, let alone in a crucial World Cup qualifier.

I rate Folami & Tilio, but I doubt those 2 would make a match day squad, let alone actually play in 4 games for Roma. If he's good enough to have played any minutes in Serie A & score a goal, then he's good enough to at least come off the bench for the Socceroos. He's pretty much trained the whole season with their Top squad, even that experience would be enough. He's also played for the Italian u21 team & they would probably give the Socceroos a run for their money. I reckon he's good to go

I reckon he's good to go Italian sides have 12 man benches so as soon as you get any injuries, primavera players will end up on the bench. Playing 4 games doesn’t mean you’ve made it at all, especially when Roma apparently don’t have great squad depth either. Ikon played a game or two for Lazio and he was never Serie A standard. Volpato wouldn’t even be a guaranteed Olyroo, let alone a Socceroo.
Not only that but we need experience for these upcoming games, throwing in a kid who A) probably isn’t good enough and B) probably doesn’t want to play for us anyway won’t help us in any way whatsoever.

Totally agree 👍 Arnold will see it differently no doubt given his brilliant coaching mind & win rate in WCQ’s recently The current squad haven’t produced the goods so far, maybe GA thinks they’ll fluke a win eventually.

He should be in the u23 squad at the minimum u20 young Socceroos if they have games lined up.
Again im not sure if Arnie has intentions of bringing him in, these are elimination games and throwing him in with no international experience might make it too overwhelming but you never know if Arnie has changed he's mind about bringing him in.

This is so ridiculous and it is obvious you haven't seen him play. 1. He is playing at a higher level than any Australian except Ajdin Hrustic. 2. He has now played 3 Serie A games, scored a goal, and been subbed on in a must-win game to make a difference. He looks totally fine at Serie A level - playing with confidence and flair. 3. Ikon played one dead rubber for Lazio when he was a year older than Volpato. Our lord and saviour Ange didn't even wait for that to select Ikon - he selected him before he'd played a pro game. 4. There was no injured player who made way for Volpato to come onto the bench. He came onto the bench because he scored a hat-trick in the previous Primavera game. 5. This kid - if you've watched him play at all - has huge x-factor. He is definitely good enough and arguably the greatest coach of all-time thinks he's good enough at the moment to come off the bench and make a difference for a team far better than the Socceroos.

Hahahhahaha 1. Primavera is NOT a higher level than any other player bar Hrustic. 2. THREE games! He has not made it yet nor does that mean he’s Serie A level. 3. Ikon was capped in a friendly ffs, not in a crucial WCQ where we need experience. 4. Roma had a number of young/primavera players on the bench so you’re talking shit. 5. You think literally every young player will be a star so it’s hard to take that seriously. 6. He seemingly has a shit attitude and doesn’t want to play for us so fk him.

Hrustic on for final 15 and a shot rolled a bit wide of post. Penalties it is. He may take one. Fresh legs. Going to be very cruel for someone.

Nicely taken by Hrustic. 2:2. Bloody pressure down the Rangers end after the first 3 taken by very experienced players.

5-4 pens good final, congrats to Hrustic. I see quoted first Aussie in 15yrs to win Euro silverware (i suspect in finals) - who was that 15yrs ago ?

Fran Karacic again omitted from Brescia squad for the first leg of the playoff semi-final against Monza last night. I don't know if he is injured or if the manager just doesn't rate him, but he was also not in the squad for the knockout playoff against Perugia last weekend.

Congrats to Eintracht Frankfurt and to Ajdin Hrustic, first Aussie male to win Euro silverware in a long while (2008?) with Kalac?
It will be interesting to see if they keep him or loan him out, he's not a regular starter so if Champions League in mind they will want to strengthen the squad hopefully for our sake he's part of the Champions League for next season because we don't have many playing at that level.
