What an assist by Metcalfe! The scorer had a good 30m to run himself but the throw is flicked to Metcalfe who whips it a good 40m diagonally first time for his team mate to bear down on goal. 3:0 to the good.

Metcalfe looks so much more comfortable on the right. Fine in the centre but here he can use his superior vision and awareness to exploit what's in the smaller space rather than the open and at times panicky middle. 

I wonder if St Pauli will continue to play him at RW ongoing due to his success in the position. He’s young enough to convert and make that his new permanent position.

Suits the national team considering how stacked we are at CM.

Smith has a similar haircut to Metcalfe and was definitely the one who assisted the second goal. St Pauli absolutely cruising today. 

I imagine they'll be able to make the late flight to Singapore or Dubai from Frankfurt as Sandhausen isn't far away.

I'll lock that in right now. It's just working out too well. Also I don't recall Arnold's system having too much effect with the swift, getting in behind wingers like Mabil so this skilled on the floor, highly intelligent in tight spaces type is perfect. Metcalfe starting there can also drift across the front 3 like McGree does and if someone in the middle is hurt he can go to the middle. That's something our wide men like Leckie or Goodwin couldn't do. Goodwin definitely our LW starter however.

It hadn't occurred to me how the top 3 had pulled away in Bundesliga 2. I guess the media sentiment that Hamburg is 3rd gave me the impression of 4-7 dragging them but it's a gap of 7 or 8 points to Düsseldorf and St Pauli respectively. St Pauli absolutely flying though I think it's 8 wins on the trot? 

Metcalf and mcgree are both great in bpo for wingers. Would allow us to play an energetic press

No chance Goodwin is our starting LW with McGree or Boyle fully fit. McGree ended up being the starting LW at the World cup ahead of Goodwin and Boyle was the starting LW in qualification ahead of Goodwin. 

McGree was started as a 10 in the group stage and was only left vs Argentina. I think he can start there and drift accordingly.

Have you seen Goodwin's performances lately? It's much higher than A league level. Killing it. 

I'm pretty sure you've posted before that Boyle is best as a striker and I'd like to see him on the centre once he's fit. We need to start using the skill on the floor that we now posses to shoot on goal.

I did yes re Boyle but my comment was regarding what I think Arnie will do not what I'd play. I still think Arnie will play Boyle or Mcgree over Goodwin at LW. I think as it stands right now I think the following is our best 11 in Arnies mind ..

Great page this. Ugh Twente score twice early. Second one, I guess you don't expect your centre back to fall to the floor. Not much Maty could do besides make himself big. A very good header for the first which could've been stopped with the risky movement of anticipation to the left.

Goodwin is on fire atm with 10 goals and 9 assists. His corner/free kicks & crosses are deadly accurate too. In his prime right now since WCup and should definitely start for Roos as LW, despite Metcalfe and McGree doing well too

So we have the likes of Metcalfe, McGree, Baccus, Devlin, O'Neill and young Robertson whilst the likes of Mooy, Hrustic and Genreau not in the squad the depth is ridiculous. 

And Mooy and Irvine as the experienced players we should have a strong midfield going into the qualifiers, no excuses with the lack of options because that's the strength of the team.

How good is it! I feel like we've settled our CB's too. There's a couple of full back and wide forwards coming through. If we can find a no. 9 and someone post Ryan we're looking decent.
