+xat the moment there is more good news than bad news good news 1) metcalf getting more minutes this year, with a lot of them in midfield, scoring and assisting 2) genreau keeps getting starts 3) O'niell has started a lot of games though his touches per 90 are well down on his a league stats. Hope he improves 4) Silvera getting time straight away 5) Circati starting and topping seri b 6) garangski starting and scoring 7) bos starting straight away 8) Mabil moving to a good league where he is getting game time 9) Ryan at alkmaar 10) miller getting starts 11) atkinson reclaiming his place, devlin and rowles holding theirs 12) luongo and burgess getting plenty of time in a team doing ok in the ecl 13) yazbek getting plenty of starts for a time chasing a uefa spot bad news 1) Souttar getting frozen out 2) Hrustic getting frozen out 3) mcgree needs more game time 4) disappointed there hasn't been more time for neiwenhof 5) volpato falling out of favour 6) Triantis getting no time yet too early to tell 1) Jelacic in norway 2) Tilio at celtic did I miss anything? Robertson starting and having good performances Toure starting and playing well consistently scoring the past few months for Reims and Paris FC Yengi becoming the guy (until he got injured) I think Robertson, Toure and Garang moving to new clubs this season has been great. From them getting next to no minutes last season to all three in the running to start games is a massive upgrade for the three young players and will put them in a favourable position in the next few years.

+x+x+xJust an update on Noah : I had some email exchanges with Jarrad Denham from FFA about Noah's elegibilty to play for Australia. Unfortunately myself having arrived in Australia as a 12 month old baby from France and spending the next 42 years in Australia, being naturalised and only knowing this country as my home apparently I'm still not Australian enough for Fifa to recognise Noah as being elegible to play for this country even though he is an Australian citizen and an Australian passport holder. Under Fifa rules Noah can play for Germany or France unless he comes and lives in Australia for 3-5 years. After those 3-5 years he would be elegible. But after that disappointment last week Noah got notified by the DFB he has been nominated to join th German National U15 Team for a training camp on the 25-28th of Sept. It's only a first phase. They have quite a large selection that will be slowly culled until the final squad is announced in April or May of next year. He had an amazing game yesterday gainst Darmstadt while the National head trainer watched.Couldn't have picked a better day to have a blinder. So that's that. That's good for his career regardless of country but that's disappointing news on the Australia front. Yet on what grounds doesn't FIFA recognise it? You’re because being naturalised as a parent of the player, not being Australian from birth? I'm just wondering how it compares to the Boyle, Karacic and Souttar cases and also when the new rules came in. UK nationality laws have about 4 different cut off rates for various criteria so I imagine Noah might just be regulated by the fresh batch of rules vs current Roos being under a previous set. It”s because no Grandparent, parent or the player was born in Australia. I still think it’s something that could be challenged. The funny thing is I never lived in France or have any deep affiliation with the country.Yet Noah is eligible for France just because my parents were from there and immigrated to Australia when I was a 10 month old in 1967. I believe an influx of Brazilians into Foreign squads made FIFA change the rules but then it discriminates against me saying my 42 years in Australia has no weight at all. Does FIFA not recognize 'citizenship' as a standard? If you were a citizen of Australia when Noah was born (regardless of if the birth was overseas), that should make Noah eligible for an Australian citizenship. EDIT: I'm not familiar with the whole story (sounds like you have shared previously based on the way you have written these posts the past day or so), but from reading FIFA's explainer on eligibility, provided that is the case (Noah is not currently an Australian citizen, but was born overseas while you were an Australian citizen), there really shouldn't be an issue with FIFA.
Article 5.1. Any person holding a permanent nationality that is not dependent on residence in a certain country is eligible to play for the representative teams of the association of that country. 5.2. There is a distinction between holding a nationality and being eligible to obtain a nationality. A player holds a nationality, if, through the operation of a national law, they have: a) automatically received a nationality (e.g. from birth) without being required to undertake any further administrative requirements (e.g. abandoning a separate nationality); or b) acquired a nationality by undertaking a naturalisation process.
The bit from the explainer document I want to point out (again, this is all assuming you are an Australian citizen at the time of Noah's birth, regardless of Noah's birth location) is this:
10. The first scenario is where nationality is obtained “automatically…without being required to undertake any further administrative requirements”. This is made up of two elements. 10.1 The first element requires that nationality be obtained “automatically”. This will generally occur when a player is born, subject to the relevant national law, in line with the principle of jus solis (nationality is linked to the place of birth) or jus sanguinis (nationality is linked to the nationality held by one or both parents), or a combination of both. 10.2 The second element requires that the automatic grant of nationality does not oblige the player to “undertake any further administrative requirements”. 10.2.1 Where the relevant national law demands certain formalities connected to childbirth be completed prior to the automatic grant of nationality (e.g. registration of birth; nationality request due to being born abroad), these are not considered “further administrative requirements”. 10.2.2 Where the relevant national law provides a substantial precondition to be met prior to the automatic grant of nationality (e.g. to abandon another nationality; a substantial waiting period following childbirth), this will be considered a “further administrative requirement”. 10.2.3 In such cases, prior to the substantial precondition being met, the player is considered “eligible to obtain a nationality” as opposed to “holding a nationality”. For the avoidance of doubt eligibility to obtain a nationality does not make a player eligible to participate for representative teams of the MA concerned.
While becoming an Australian citizen in this fashion is 'a substantial waiting period following childbirth', the waiting period isn't part of the national law, and is merely a formality connected to the birth, so shouldn't be considered a 'further administrative requirement'.
Citizenship means eligibility for an Australian passport, and thus as FIFA competition regulations consistently state that proof of “nationality” is only provided through the holding of a “permanent international passport”. Example: Article 19, Paragraph 3 of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Preliminary Competition Regulations
The only document considered to be valid proof of a player’s identity and nationality shall be a permanent international passport that explicitly, and in Latin characters, states the player’s first name(s) and surname(s), as well as his day, month and year of birth. Identity cards or other local supporting official documents shall not be accepted as a valid means of identification…
DOUBLE EDIT: It would really help if I didn't skim over words sometimes! Of course you already said that Noah is already a citizen, but above is my two cents on the matter. Should definitely be challengeable from the way I'm reading their own explainer of their eligibility statutes..

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed but Mabil lined up against Scott Chipperfield's son Liam in the Swiss Cup and were handsomely beat by 2nd div side 3-0 over the weekend.
I know Liam has said he wants to represent the Swiss but surely we can maybe sway him with an England debut?
He has 3 goals in 5 games this season so far playing at RW.

He desperately needs to score to shut them up. Fans also pissed that McGree was taken off. Middlesbrough need to start winning some games. On a positive, Ipswich won again and are still in the automatic promotion zone - long way to go but a great start after getting promoted.

What a strange rule FIFA have, and im sure if can be challenged for your kids sake to choose Australia because it doesn't sound fair at all.

Some god passes into the box by Silvera but often Wednesday defended well and limited space to get the ball away. McGree doesn't look too happy there. Carrick has really lost it.

From previous posts, born outside Australia, but already is an Australian Citizen and Passport holder. To me, it's weird FIFA wouldn't recognise Noah as already eligible to play for Australia, based off my breakdown in an earlier post

Portsmouth games have averaged 600 passes a game and the quality is only a shade below the a league Eredivisie is better if you can get the contract. Half of our players in the eredivisie have won a starting spot in a big five league

No Souttar. Wish our players would just call a manager's bluff and leave. He's probably too proud to depart too soon but his manager did a poor job just touting Rangers. You can't tell me there isn't a club who would have taken him on loan if he was listed as available.

Top League 1 vs bottom 5 Eredivise would be interesting. Sometimes the Dutch league eaves me shaking my head how some of the clubs are first division and other times those clubs do alright. I just like the EFL because it has 46 games, 3 cups and even some clubs play in a county cup.

League One for a 19 year old isn’t so bad, it’s A-league level at minimum with the opportunity to play 40 games per year. Remember that we’re talking about someone who couldn’t get gametime for the worst team in Scotland less than 12 months ago.

Leicester has ruined his status, value & legacy by keeping him out of the game for so long & now he will be known as "a not good enough CB for the championship level". On Asian Leicester page I read some pple even accused him as one of the reason they were relegated during Rodgers time.

Thanks for the congrats Sportaddict and NicCarBel the support. My Aussie mates are all disappointed too. We all grew up as school kids and watched countless socceroo matches together and they can't believe that my 42 years in Australia, being Naturalised back in the early 80's still doesn't make me Australian enough for Fifa. Jarrad Denham the U17 Joey manager said Noah doesn't qualify. He maybe wrong though. Noah got his Australian citizenship and passport via the "Decendant" rule.Being my decendant. By the way Jan Zimmermann,Kevin Trapps goalkeeper trainer came and watched Noah training on Tuesday and spoke with him.Wished him well for the National camp starting this following Monday. Fingers crossed the National trainers like him and that Noah survives the first cull of boys.
