Great to see Mass Luongo do well again, unsung hero for us and I won’t forget he’s feats in the 2015 Asian Cup where he was the MVP of the tournament.
Given our depth in midfield now it will be interesting to see if he’s back in the fold but now with more experience to work with.

+x+xMetcalfe with 88 minutes and st pauli now in automatic promotion spot have to say, our tokyo based olyroos midfield looks close to the socceroos midfield at the moment. Irvines injury, mooy and rogics retirement and hrustics club troubles have paved the way for them The next window is a massive opportunity for exposure. Arnie was right to forge a core via Tokyo. Big chance to finally get Strain on. Midfield will look different. Souttar isn't a secret in England. Could risk it where he plays underdone and either does very well against England or gets battered which potentially affects suitors but any rational club scout knows lack of games affects a player. England are going to be so tough but a Circati Burgess start would be great to see. The NZ game offers a lot of fringe players the chance too. It's rare we get two games so close without travel as well. Great to see the Olyroos of 2020(2021) step up in their careers that’s what Arnie wanted when he took over the team for Tokyo.

+xLuongo needs to play. He's our most in form midfielder. I only see Robertson ever having the potential to eclipse Luongo on what skill level he's reached. Baccus is handy and hopefully will get better. I like Devlin for when we need the terrier type. People seem to forget all the chaos Luongo has stood up in. Asian Cup knockout games, sweaty ME qualifiers, scary Honduras away (one of his best games IMO)

Circati just scored a late minute equaliser for Parma. Not only is he playing 90 minutes every match at a good level but he is having very good performances every game. Should really be in contention for starting minutes with the Socceroos in the very near future.

Yazbek was a sub for the second game in a row. Hope he wins his spot back. Seems to happen in europe with the longer season and bigger benches and larger scouting nets

+xBetter off being in the aleague That may well happen. “at the ayr vs celtic b team game and marco tilio is the smallest man i have ever seen in my life” “One of Ayr's co-comms said at one point "...can see John Kennedy in the stand here and he's not amused, Marco Tillio standing static as Finn (their LB) makes a 60 yard run" “

All 3 starting for Boro in cup in Bradford. Luongo bench and Burgess rested against Wolves. Ipswich definitely aiming for Playoffs. Bouzanis bench. Watts starts against Luton while Bilokapic starts clocking up a lot of minutes.

Atkinson supposedly had a scan today. I'd expect more drama or leaks if it were something very serious. Not a peep. Let's just say 8 weeks for framing it not being so bad.
Doyle out for a very long time according to Leicester which puts Souttar up one notch. They play a back 3 so it's in his favour yet I'm not holding my breath he'll even make the bench.

Caleb Watts off with an injury just before half-time for Exeter City. Don't know the extent of the injury.

Younger Aussie midfielders have improved.

Luongo is regarded as one of the best players in the team currently in 2nd place (by goal difference) in the Championship. Here are the player ratings for Ipswich v Blackburn played 23rd September Vaclav Hladky | 6.7 | Harry Clarke | 6.9 | Luke Woolfenden | 6.6 | Cameron Burgess | 7.1 | Leif Davis | 6.8 | Sam Morsy | 7.8 | Massimo Luongo | 8.5 | Wes Burns | 6.5 | Conor Chaplin | 6.5 | Nathan Broadhead | 7.6 | George Hirst | 7.2 | | Marcus Harness | 6.2 | Jack Taylor | 6.0 | Brandon Williams | 6.3 | Omari Hutchinson | 7.9 | Dane Scarlett | 5.9 |

He's been in great form this season & was instrumental in Ipswich getting promoted last season. You can pretty much say that he's our best midfielder currently available for selection, so if he's not selected for the Friendly's next month it will be a travesty.

I'd like to see him back in the fray but I suspect only injuries will force GA picking him.
