PFFFFF Souttar starting at Anfield in a fairly rotated team. A chance but a place and opponent that makes the best defenders look bad so here's hoping. To be fair it's the fitness at this rate. Hope he really puts in a shift.
Gilsenan and Francois bench. I wonder is the former is worth looking at in the next window and for the NZ game? Would be even better to lock a few up in the November window. I can see Nieuwenhof or Francois coming in ahead of Luongo which would be a travesty.

All 3 starting for Hibs. Strain starts and Baccus bench. Unfortunate to see Iredale not in squad vs Leipzig. They've stacked the bench with defenders and mids to hold on for dear life.

1:0 Leicester with a great counter inside 3min. No offside despite the original angle seemingly so. The Souttar effect :D

It's a back 4 so Souttar should be fine with that compared to the less familiar back 3. Rotation for Liverpool too but some good names out there. Souttar next to Coady so no language barrier and a great experienced head.

Circati starting.
Not a foot wrong by Souttar so far. A good jockey on Gapko to block a shot. A nice ball down the line. Min 18 a nice cross field high and long. Earlier towered on the penalty spot to clear a corner. Good use of size to shield a through ball out.

Oh come on! Souttar emulates his Tunisia tackle by jogging this time on an angle to get to Jota but ref blows a foul. Decent amount of ball there. Big applause by Leicester fans in the corner. He ran down and timed it well. Bit of a mangle but plenty of ball there.
How Leicester haven't conceded though. Set play swift across goal sees Coady clear off the line.

In the interest of balance, Jota manages to get the flat cross around Souttar's slide. Otherwise a flawless half by Souttar only bettered by Coady with two miracle goal line clearances. In saying that, a very cohesive job by the two at the back.

1:1. Nice pass through and Gapko can take a step past Coady to score. Somewhat static by 4 players including Souttar to shut down the pass. In hindsight a charge needed.

Darwin and Szoboszlai on and now the tough match up begins. FFS just now Leicester decide to do the dumbest passing inside their own box (Souttar excluded) nearly ended in absolute disaster there.

Darwin goes for a run on the ball and Souttar hunts him down and nicks it. Darwin doesn't concur and runs into his back with a shove. Good viewing.
Just like that Szoboszlai with a rocket from the edge of the box into the roof of the net. Too shot. 2:1 Liverpool.

Blackburn all but through. No Gilsenan or Francois yet with Fulham up 2:0.
Laws and Mabil both on after 73min last night in a 2:1 loss.
Baccus goal to make it 2:2.

Jota with a perfect backheel to make it 3:1. Souttar fatigued as marker and probably could have gone the way of the heel but the shot was the most surprising way to play the ball.
A fine game by Souttar. Perhaps if a world cup final he charges out twice for the other two goals like a madman but I think that's looking into it a bit much.
Boyle scores again and it's 4:2.

Thanks for the play by play mate. Hopefully he showed enough to at least make the bench for the next league game.

Had I been offered his performance tonight pre game given how things have been I'd have paid double price. Really could've been an absolute nightmare and it was polar opposite.

+x[quote]Why no highlight of Hibs cup game on YouTube? [/quote Viaplay chose to televise Ranger v Livingston and Kilmarnock vs Hearts and not Hibs v St Mirren. The game was only available from Hibs TV and St Mirren TV for International viewers. A viewer has posted these goals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lowMZcUYvUMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7IGjV1RaI4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBJhOsvtF0I

Thought Souttar was poor, unaware of his man for the first goal and looks lost at times. The midfield is useless which doesnt help. Think he just needs a run of games.

I don't want to say it, as Harry was one of our best at the WC, but it might be time to start Circati & Burgess until he starts to get significant playing time. Circati just seems to be ultra consistent, has cemented his starting spot, plays 90 mins and plays at the highest level of our current defenders, apart from Burgess.

We need souttar playing and playing well. It doesn't seem like much interest in him though which is disappointing

On today's display he won't get them. His performance was fine as he'd not played for Leicester in months. First goal he rightly let Gapko run into an offside position and it was only a top pass and deep sitting team mate that saw them come undone. Plenty of plaudits for someone coming in under the circumstances and doing a job. He'll only improve with games.

Rowles has done little wrong as a CB for the Socceroos to date.

Leicester forum is quite flattering to souttar though note he may not be as good playing out the back and is more of a player you want if you have your backs to the wall
