Good move for the young lad, but we need some young # 10s going over there & developing to get some creativity coming through the NT - similar to what Hrustic did going to Holland

Well at least he can't get injured at club level closer to the tournament but still these injury announcements are getting scary. Time yet as the number 2 could start against India if needed.

Jarred Gillett refereed Aston Villa v Arsenal. Biggest game of the weekend in the EPL. I've only watched the mini match but it looked like he did very well.

As an Arsernal Fan, I beg to differ...

OK, I'll bite. What did he do that was not so good?

I’m obviously bias so I’m seeing it from one side only. But I didn’t like the handball decision to disallow Havertz goal since it touched the hand of the defender first before barely touching Kai’s. If one was a handball then why isn’t the other?

Also Jesus had a penalty shout that I think was a clear penalty (but that’s Var not the ref). He the defender kicked his leg up in the penalty box and tripped him.

travis head was selected injured at the icc world cup

we can do the same

Gauci is a pretty decent replacement and should be more than good enough for the first few games

If you look at all the online comments about those two decisions there are just as many comments saying both decisions were right as those saying they were wrong. And most of the comments saying the decisions were wrong were coming from Arsenal fans (go figure!). So if different decisions were made (i.e., penalty given for Jesus and goal allowed for Havertz), we would still have half the population saying the ref made the wrong decisions!! So the ref can't win!!

Also, VAR agreed that both decisions were correct, or at least not obviously wrong.

Regarding your statement "If one was a handball then why isn’t the other?", you need to understand that the threshold for handball is different for a defender compared to the ball hitting an attackers hand which leads directly to a goal. Not every time the ball hits a defenders hand in the box will it be considered handball and a penalty given, depending on the circumstances where the ball hits the hand, whereas in every case of the ball hitting an attackers hand which leads directly to a goal the goal should be disallowed for handball.

For the record, I think both decisions were correct and I support neither club.

robertson almost marked out of the game. Commentators keep raving about him

Yengi has really grown into the game and definitely looks a level above the league if he can start banging them in again. Saw someone on the portsmouth forum claim he could be worth 25mil (hard to believe coz he seemed to struggle in the a league)

in the half jones denied yengi twice, once with a goal line clearance after yengi's shot beat the keeper and nearly went over

robertson missed a golden opportunity set up by yengi

a rare quiet half from robertson. He has been heavily marked. Good practice for the big leagues where he will have less space. I wouldn't mind a second season long loan to portsmouth in the championship with an option to buy if they get promoted. He is mooy/epl good, but not sure if he is man city good?

It was a very good game to watch. It was high intensity most of the time, albeit scrappy at times. Both teams needed to win and tried to actually play the ball more than just booting it away. I thought Robertson was fairly quiet. He was solid, but made a couple of errors that could have led to chances. That being said, he was quite busy and won a lot of duels. His passing is quite good. He seemed to lose his footing a couple of times and overshot the ball when he would normally control it. Pompey fans were still raving about his performance though. So maybe we’re harsher critics haha.
I was very impressed with Yengi. Clearly, they knew he would be up against a big and physical CB, so his own physicality helped open up the game for others. He took the entire attention of the CB and it looked like WWE wrestling for a while there. You could tell that he would eventually get past him though. It was a sweet little move that made you really appreciate the physical work he did in the game. Getting wrestled to the ground but then ghosting past 2 centre backs for a tap in was great.
Overall, it was quite insightful. It was good seeing Jones too. He was solid and could be a handy pick up. Iredale couldn’t really do much in the time that he was on.

And he’s younger.

Hopefully plays a decent part in the Asian cup.

He did not struggle in the a league.
He was fantastic. They played him out wide for wanderers and he was a menace drawing players he had fantastic movement off the ball as well.
He was a great player, my sons favourite.
I never understood the hate he get. When he played we were a different team (for the better )

He was good in the A League, even playing out of position at RW & limited opportunities for WSW. #9 is definitely his best position & he's shown that he's got good skills for a big unit. Very promising player

Hmm im watching it quite regularly now. The quality seems similar with the average league one match a touch lower standard than the a league. There is the occasional epl quality player sojourning in league one and the season is longer

top of the table league one is a high standard though, as we are seeing ipswich are epl standard and topped league one last year

Leicester and Ipswich have bity eclipsed the best ever Championship start or pacing by this time of the season. Really great for Ipswich.

Souttar just won't feature for Leicester so a winter move is crucial.

Volpato came on in the last 10 mins & looked like he had set up the winning goal, only for it to be a bee's dick offside. He was kind of at fault for the equaliser - he sort of slipped over & that allowed the cross to score. Sassuolo went onto lose the game in injury time. Love to see them lose the fuckers
