Sorry if it has already been posted, but I just read on Keep Up, on FB, that O'Neill played a full game for Standard Liege. According to Arnie, SL is a very big club in Belgium. 

This is possibly the biggest club any current Aussie outfield player is playing at.

I'm very taken with O'Neill's skill set. I see him as the heir to Mooy at the base of the Socceroo midfield. I think we needed him against Palestine. Pim's term - the  controlling midfielder.

Go back a page or two. Some good information. He's really started to play well on top of consolidating starts. 

Good Leeds lost to Sunderland. Ipswich just flying and it'd be so hard to take if they didn't go up. We're about to enter the big Christmas match period.

It would be incredible if Luongo finally managed to reach the Prem at 31. Long overdue and if it wasn't for the Australian tax probably would have been there years ago. 

Yes agree, very good player, much underrated when Mooy & Rogic was around.

I've watched a few Ipswich games recently & he just bosses the midfield. Injuries have really held him back in the past at club level as well as for the Roos 

he is our only specialist number 6. He plays alongside a very technically skilled columbian but excels in football intelligence and is starting to come good

belgium has probably overtaken the eredivisie in quality, westerlo are fighting relegation yet are so much better than volendam its not funny (volendam are 2nd last in the eredivisie)

there were quite a few years where I would think "is this the year he gets signed by an epl club" only to get injured or have a form slump around the transfer window. Think he has been epl quality for years, but struggled with the sheer length and physicality of the championship. The championship has become a more technical league in the last few years which suits him

I saw a recent ranking in UEFA leagues that somebody posted here. 

I find it hard to believe, given how good the bottom ranked French clubs are, but I thought in this order,  Netherlands and  Belgium had moved up to 5th and 6th ranked respectively, usurping France at number 5 in UEFA?

I just can't imagine the mid ranked and lower  ranked Dutch and Belgian clubs being superior to the mid and  lower ranked clubs in France.

O'Neill's club scenario is fantastic for the Socceroos if he keeps playing for SL. Arnie raved about how good SL is.

If we add Aussies are playing  at two of the top Championship clubs, ( little difference between them and lower EPL clubs) and St Pauli stay near the top of the German Bundi 2,( again little difference between this and lower echelons of Bundi 1), we have about 6 outfield players playing at  a pretty good club level. Genreau was playing some games in the  top French division last season too.

Genreau sucks his proved that time and time again. Plus, he hasn't played in ligue 1 for months now, you can hardly count him in your 6. 

Souttar not in squad. Kind of a piss take that Faes is at left back with his immobility. Only a few more weeks to go. He has to absolutely break ranks and get the hell out of there. They don't care for his cause so why should he sacrifice for theirs?

An ACL and not setting proper expectations at Utrecht certainly didn't help. It's these silly misaligned loans that waste everyone's time. I think players have to find a club desperate for a bit of flair and they'll happily play them. It's all about minutes at this stage.

Arzani then apparently went down in attitude and the time at Lommel was horrible. All water under a bridge now.

I think it was the other way round from memory - Belgium moved to 5th, so O'Neill, Bos & Davidson are playing at a very high level. Would be a great league for Hrustic to go to. 

Interesting that Bos's Westerlo is in the relegation zone. Davidson's Eupen just above them outside the relegation zone. Sainsbury's old side Kortrijk is dead last. O'Neill's Standard Liege has had an okay run of form lifting them to lower mid table. Tough league. 

Was thinking it'd also be a good league for Gauci if/when he goes to Europe. It was a good league for Ryan and Vukovic as keepers. It earned Ryan his La Liga and later EPL move and was where Vukovic played his best career football. May be good for Gauci too. 

yeah lots of talent coming out of Belgium these days seems the place to be atm if you are a young player. 

Important win for bos this morning they are out of relegation 

Westerlo has strung some good form together. That puts Davidsons Eupen in the relegation zone. I really hope Westerlo stays up for Bos's and the NT's sake. 

I'm sure club scouting is much deeper than 'let's scan national team squads and see who we can get' yet I wonder what would happen to Bos if Westerlo went down. 

Davidson another who has been mistreated in the national team.  Missed world cup selection and also recent squads yet is playing every week in the highest level of any of our left backs the same as bos obviously. Is versatile aswell as he can play left centre back and even defensive mid.   Disappointing that his international career will probably go the same way as Holland who also was playing highest level as he was in champions league

It's true they've done the goods at club level. Davidson had a fine early international career. He went really walkabout in clubland for a bit and fell away but fought back. Credit to him. I think he had a knock in the Jordan friendly which just ruled him out of any decent performance in order to face UAE or Peru. 

Ahhh Holland. Well, we've been blessed in centre mid. I just couldn't stand him any time in a gold shirt and that's going back many years now. Lost balls, slow and clunky: 08-13. A concentrated performance against Jordan last qualifier though. 

Jordy had a couple of golden chances last night.

first chance he dribbled through half the team like he wasn’t there, got to the penalty spot for an easy finish but didnt get power on the shot 

2nd chance did well to get on the end of a low cross but hit it too high

he is a left back so maybe finishing isnt as important, but he generates these opportunities most games. If he starts finishing some of these he could find hia value sky rocket
