+xThis thread is so depressing these days. Gone are the days when we actually had players playing for clubs in the top 10 european leagues. It's now basically an aussies [playing u23's/reserves abroad threa We've still got Degenek and Mabil at CL sides, Holland captaining one of the better EL sides, Irvine and Boyle now at an EL club, leckie and Hrustic coming off the bench in the bundesliga, Rogic a starter/squad rotation player at a top 50 club, Ryan backup at a top 20 side, plus talk of Souttar going to PL club, Watts on bench at PL, Mooy is a top 5 league player easily... actually things look a lot better now than they did in 2013/14.

+x+xBurgess with man of the match in a 0-0 against Edwards. Williams with a goal and win for Portsmouth. Cleur with a full game and 7.2 rating in a 1-1 draw. Souttar with a full game and second highest match rating for his team. They won 2-0 against Bristol. Elder with a 7.9 and a full game in a 2-1 win over Crewe. Dougall with a full game in a 2-0 win, with a score of 8.0. No Lyden in that game. McGree didn’t get off the bench. Iredale with a full game in a 2-1 win. Got a score of 7.5. Karacic with 80 min and a 7.6 in a 4-1 win. Anthony Carter with a goal in a 2-1 win in Portugal. Overall, not a bad night for our Aussies. Thanks for the info. Only disappointing thing obviously, is our Olyroos Captain not getting any time again - what's McGree got to do?!!! Not have an Australian birth certificate.

For context we only have 4 active players in the top 4 leagues but only a very few are getting on the pitch on a regular basis. We need to build that top 4 league representation as well as increase the amount of players outside of that especially in first division leagues. For comparison our Asian neighbor Japan have around 10 in top 4 league representation and the rest in very good leagues outside of the top 4.

Jeggo starting Borrello subbed on late Delbridge subbed on in the first half. 2-1 loss. Poor start to the season for Incheon.

Mate please share some of what you’re smoking haha Sure Degenek and Mabil played in the Champions League but 95% of the season they’re playing in an average league. Serbian and Danish league close to the top ten in Europe? When was the last time Hibernian did anything decent in European football? Again, the Scottish league is absolutely dreadful.
Can you tell me how many minutes Hrustic has played in the Bundesliga? What about Ryan?
Mooy is a top five league player easily... maybe a few years ago.

how come no one ever mentions Karacic? most underrated player we have... the Croatian league is decent quality we seen that with Dinamo this year in the Europa League. Brescia in with a chance of promotion if they can get a run going.

Brescia in with a chance of promotion if they can get a run going. I think people doubt him because of his lack of English. This guy should be in the next squad and should even be starting. Cleur has even taken a big step in his development this season getting good game time in serie.b. unfortunately though looks like his team will be relegated

What do you mean 5 years ago ? Mooy was in the epl just last season and was highly rated by most pundits

Yeah but outside of Hajduk and Dinamo it's def worse than a-league imo Big difference is the players are technically better and 1 or 2 from teams can go on to big careers where we have 1 or 2 from our league full stop.

Luongo has been out injured for a while but is recovering well. Seems a long list of injuries at Wednesday but they won 5:0 today.

The first sentence was confirmed by players playing in the Croatian league decades ago. Many European leagues feature this phenomenon. Like H Split and Dinamo Z, they have two or three dominant powerhouse clubs, often with European pedigree, while the rest of the clubs play at a much lower standard.
