+x+xits interesting if you write the players who broke through by u24 birth year by birth year 1984 - 2 1985 - 1 1986 - 0 1987 - 1 1988 - 2 1989 - 3 1990 - 1 1991 - 4 1992 - 4 1993 - 1 1994 - 1 1995 - 1 1996 - 2 1997 - 0 1998 - 3 1999 - 2 2000 - 3 2001 - 2+1? 2002 - 3+? 2003 - 5+? hard to read the tea leaves for a couple more years I guess...we did get a couple of outlier years in 91 and 92 before which is probably due to making youth world cups under jan. Still the 2003 group will probably set an a league era record. I’m super bullish on 2005 & 2006. So many promising talents born those two years. Would be nice if they match or exceed 2003! Really curious to see if 2003 becomes a new normal

+x+x+xThese are the type of players Australia needs to get into the Socceroos, especially against teams where we expect more possession, the likes of McGree, Hrustic & Robertson, true it may not work against Japan, but we don't have players at that level yet. I rate McGree and think Robertson will come into something but I'm a bit iffy atm on Hrustic, hopefully he can secure some good minutes in Serie B. Don't get why some are so keen on Hrustic. He's done some half decent things in attack but disappears in defence. He was anonymous in his last few internationals, not unlike Metcalfe. Let's see Robertson, Balard and Nisbet in there. Hrustic scored a goal & got an assist in his last 2 internationals.

You really need maybe 7-8 per birth year to having something like the gg I forgot to add the 2001 and 2002 gen have still got players with potential as well, hopefully it’s a start of a positive trend rather a new dawn, the key is the continued upward trend of young players doing well here and going overseas at good clubs.
