I’m super bullish on 2005 & 2006. So many promising talents born those two years.

Would be nice if they match or exceed 2003! Really curious to see if 2003 becomes a new normal

I rate McGree and think Robertson will come into something but I'm a bit iffy atm on Hrustic, hopefully he can secure some good minutes in Serie B.

Don't get why some are so keen on Hrustic. He's done some half decent things in attack but disappears in defence. He was anonymous in his last few internationals, not unlike Metcalfe.

Let's see Robertson, Balard and Nisbet in there.
Hrustic scored a goal & got an assist in his last 2 internationals.

2005 is a great class.

I'm also bullish on 2008 and 2009 but that maybe too early for now.

I’m confident of the 2003 group that featured in the Olyroos will come through I would ignore the failed u23 campaign because is plenty of good talent there nevertheless.

But something tells me the 2005 to 2006 group might be the best of the lot.

These are the type of players Australia needs to get into the Socceroos, especially against teams where we expect more possession, the likes of McGree, Hrustic & Robertson, true it may not work against Japan, but we don't have players at that level yet.

Hopefully Popa sees the light, agree plenty of ball players are coming through.

I guess the big question  I'm hoping to see answered is whether this is a purple patch or a new dawn. You really need maybe 7-8 per birth year to having something like the gg

I forgot to add the 2001 and 2002 gen have still got players with potential as well, hopefully it’s a start of a positive trend rather a new dawn, the key is the continued upward trend of young players doing well here and going overseas at good clubs.

The more players play the more tested Popa will be with he’s player selections you would think.

They'll sack their manager soon. A 6-1 loss and anchored to the relegation zone. I wonder why Farrell was out, he was highly rated last week. Might have been good to dodge that bullet.

His goal was a massive deflection and he was otherwise anonymous in that match.

He did have a shot though, which is more than can be said for most of them.

Yes he passed to Goodwin & Goodwin did all the work. There are people on this board did after game analysis for both game.

The question is  Did you even watch the game?

That would suck. I had checked FotMob to see if he was listed as injured but he wasn't. It's not always accurate though. There's a few SM posts from Pompey fans asking for his return to the team. I'd assumed he was rested/managed. I really hope he's not injured.

We need a Kewell & a Viduka, but they are rare, the GG didn't have 7-8, they had 2 players that had great 1st touch, awareness & great technique, the others were great in what we normally produce, solid hard professionals.

I put to you this, Ange coaching Spurs, brings on many Aussie coaches to assist at Spurs & gives them the opportunity.
Daniel Levy says do the same with Aussie players, all the Socceroos in our history to pick from, Ange would only pick Viduka & Kewell. They are our only truly world class players, the GG was better than our current lot, but not by that much, none apart from those mentioned above would get into a top 6 team today.

Timmy Cahill like Mile Jedinak, were not great skillful players, but they used 100% of their ability to reach a decent level. Paul Okon, Ned Zelic, Aaron Mooy, Mark Bresciano, Tom Rogic all had the skills but never reached their potential (or maybe just not good enough) for one reason or another.

I think Bresciano and Mooy had excellent careers for club and country and were both great technicians. Cahill's technique and bag of tricks is also hugely underrated. Speed and height were his limitations.

Okon never quite cracked it at a higher level at clubland. Zelic ditto but for Country, and for club it was short lived. Rogic never seemed to have the drive to go to the next level.

I'm excited by what players like Irankunda and Robertson will become.

They are all my heroes, I was in Germany & the GG took me on the ride of my life, I can still see Zelic's goal to qualify us into the Olympics against Holland & Okon masterclass against Ghana in Sydney nothing short of sensational.
Cahill, greatest Socceroo, but limitations, doesn't have the skill to play CAM today or the ability to bring others into the play ala Dukes to play for a top team as striker.

Just being realistic about where real our issues are. Even Guus said, the Socceroos would ran thru a brick wall for you, but they just didn't have the quality outside of 1 or 2.

Yeah he passed the ball to Goodwin, creating the opportunity, and Goodwin scored - it's called an assist muppet. Yeah and I did watch the game & he was one of our best attacking players.
