+xRegarding Leckie and Ryan there is very little anywhere. Leckie is off contract so surely Hertha want to demand at least 1M from someone. Victory? Interesting suggestion. Maybe City?

+x+x+x+xIt would be interesting to see what today's crop of "Aussies Abroad" looks like, and compares to the '2001' crop of "Aussies Abroad".... I feel a good number who were playing around low to mid level European leagues might have settled in the A League. The info given had a lot of names I wasn't too familiar with across numerous countries. I would like to know how many of them were genuine first team players. Otherwise the 2021 edition would just be this with a map next to it, so I'm not sure how much new information that would add. Unfortunately no Bangladesh for 2021 as Herd has moved on to further glory in Malaysia, having recovered from the ignominy of scoring for Aston Villa at Anfield. I have never seen a player fall so so fast as Herd. Scarcely believable. Surely mental health issues in play, I feel terribly for the guy.

+xBorrello finally makes a return to the starting XI against Braunschweig. Hopefully he won't get dragged at halftime. Off after 63 minutes in a 0-0 draw, didn't get a bad individual rating on Futmob compared to the rest of the team with 6.4, for what that's worth.

+xOut of curiosity – quick question (really two questions).... Do you follow/support/have a favourite club – either here in Australia and/or abroad (if yes, who)?? The reason I ask is I know you follow/support and have an interest in all things 'Australia NT' and 'Aussies Abroad', but I don't recall you saying whether you follow/support a particular club or not.... 🤔 Melb Heart/City- but not as club dedicated as you guys. Will watch any AL game

Had a few goals and about as many assists in 20 or so games. If he hadn't have gotten injured, I'm sure he would have continued to prosper over there.

+x"A departure for Runarsson hasn’t been ruled out. Arteta said today they will be looking at the goalkeeping department this month." Lets hope Maty gets a look in. Would be good to see him at a big club, but doubt he would get any game time there. Runarsson hasn't played a game for Arsenal yet and he is only 1 of 2 keepers they have in the squad. Basically would be like Langerak at Dortmund or Kalac at Milan

Well hes not even on the brighton bench lol

Have to agree, he got the move to Freiburg whilst he was injured. Just hasn't gone to plan since the injury.

Also Artera is besties with Tim Cahill so there’s that lol Not the most crazy suggestion imo

Arsenal rotate keepers for Europa league and (some) cup games, so Maty would get a chance, but I don't see him getting ahead of Leno.

Download the app, upload some video and you too could be the next Aussie playing in the EPL and talked about on this thread. https://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/content/ai-scoutBurnley Football Club and AiSCOUT launch global talent search using AI technology Global search for young players to join the Premier League club’s Category 1 academy Opportunity for players - locally, nationally and internationally - to complete individual trial drills, shot using the free AiSCOUT mobile app Exceptional footballers identified by scouts using AiSCOUT’s artificial intelligence will be invited to trial at Burnley’s Premier League academy. Burnley Football Club will use artificial intelligence to identify the next generation of football stars, as part of a new partnership with talent identification platform AiSCOUT.The club is the first in the Premier League to launch an open global talent search, to unearth players above the age of 14 who could join its Category 1 Premier League Academy. While anyone can upload their performance for free using the AiSCOUT mobile app, exceptional footballers identified through the app will be invited to attend a formal academy trials day later in 2021, with the chance for eligible players to earn a coveted place in the youth system. The app enables footballers over the age of 14 to try out for the Burnley Academy through undertaking specific football drills carried out in their own location and filmed using a mobile phone. The drills will be compared against other players using AiSCOUT’s artificial intelligence capabilities which allows scouts to find, analyse, score, rate, benchmark and identify players’ technical, athletic, cognitive and psychometric ability. Alan Pace, Chairman of Burnley F.C. said:“This is a first opportunity for us to introduce new data-led technologies into the football club and promote Burnley to the wider football world by giving aspirational young players across the world an opportunity. We look forward to expanding the programme throughout 2021.“With the pandemic currently leading a suspension of youth football in Lancashire and across the UK, this trial represents an open and inclusive opportunity for football players to complete a set of drills in their own environment that could end with them being scouted by a Premier League club.” Jon Pepper, Burnley F.C. Academy Manager, added:“We’re delighted to partner with AiSCOUT and this represents an exciting opportunity to expand our academy scouting network beyond Burnley and benefit from cutting edge technology.“I look forward to welcoming a selection of young players to the Barnfield Training Centre later in the year, assessing the talent on offer and hopefully ending the search by offering a place on our academy to a player with the talent to follow their dreams into the Premier League.” Darren Peries, Founder & CEO of AiSCOUT said: “This is the first time a Premier League Club will undertake an open, public trial via the AiSCOUT app. We’re delighted to be supporting a global talent search with Burnley F.C. and demonstrating the revolutionary capabilities of AiSCOUT.”

Hrustic started on the bench in the cup, came on with about 20 minutes to play & showed why he should be starting. Very involved, superb through ball to their striker (just offside), excellent control, excellent passing/ crossing & should have scored a goal. Got to be one of the first picked for the Socceroos now

Agree the standards have fallen off the way side, alot more even from the last few years ago where we had a few playing in decent leagues.

No Ryan and the bench keeper was some kid. Just shocking. Sanchez with a late foul that caused a pen but it went over. 1:0 loss for Brighton.

Its interesting what Coach's justify selections on. Sanchez's kicks from general play that I saw (only 3 on the shortened version on Optus) didn't make the half way line. Someone posited that the clearances were a negative for Ryan, so that was a fail. The goal had Sanchez way too far from the near post, poor positioning. He did make a couple of good saves, though.

I'm fully hoping they get relegated now. The way he's been treated is just so disrespectful, and doesn't really make sense. There's probably more to it than we know. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of an off field issue. Maybe he fell out with someone at the club or talked back to Potter himself. Who knows. Something must have happened. If it was just form related, he'd be on the bench and playing the cup games. The exile has been too abrupt and too final.

No, he's at the end of his peak. All Leckie has is speed - not an insult, just an observation of fact. Speed peaks mid-late 20s. Linford Christie kept it into his early-mid 30s but he had chemical help. Leckie's not an attractive prospect to other clubs - a speed player right at the end of his peak years. And he has never scored enough goals for his position - not even close. I just can't see there being a lot of interest. If he was a goalscorer it would be different.
