There would be plenty of NSL finals games more than matching those numbers.

+xThere would be plenty of NSL finals games more than matching those numbers. No I'm sure some of the smaller NSL clubs would have got similar finals attendances, not any of the Melbourne or Sydney clubs though., So 17 years of ethnically cleansed, mainstream franchises moneybags bullshit and all the Aleague has to show for it is 3 thousand freeloaders eating frozen snacks in cavernous rectangular stadium.....

Had a look on Ozfootball out of curiousity after hearing Western's crowd result. Apart from the last season being a writeoff and the penultimate season an anomaly with the 'championship round' (which had several awful crowd sizes sub-5k), most of the late 90's/early 00's finals had crowds around the 5-11k mark. Adelaide City and Carlton SC were the only clubs that had below 5k home attendances consistently during that period, what Western's numbers are on par with.

How many of those do you reckon were Victory fans? Looking behind both goals the Victory fanzone was almost packed whereas the Western fanzone seemed to be about a third of that tbh.

Melb victory vs western: North end is sold out still plenty of other tickets available for tonight.
another thing to note is tickets are pretty expensive including $77 for category A.

Next week could well struggle to get to much over 15k but honestly after the year the the league has had, I just want the focus to be on the football.
Hopefully it’s a good game.

It got 15k last yr, see no reason why it wouldnt be same or more now. Having a full days play of state leagues and npl wont help though.

Saturday night was another example of football not working together. I know a lot of Victory fans couldn’t attend because of the earlier kickoff time. So why couldn’t the NPL and state leagues bring forward their games by a couple of hours? They had 2 weeks notice.

Yep the A league semi should have started the same time night games normally do in the A league, did they not want to go directly head to head with the afl? 5ish is an odd kick off time.
even yesterday 2pm wtf is that? I can’t recall an A league match in Melbourne ever starting at 2.

Its half way through the season and FV has released the schedules months ago, why is it "the effniks" fault the plastic playoffs pty ltd cant get their act together?

just played around with Ticketek and ticket sales for the GF seem to be going OK so far. perhaps predictions of doom and gloom is well... typical of this forum. +xWhy should they? Why couldn't the AL kick-off at 7:50 pm like they do every other Saturday during the season? the national league should always get first priority.

+xInteresting to compare that the AFL have their lowest crowds in 26 years Apparently only 70k at the MCG on Saturday night when usually a sell-out for Indigenous round.... lots of punch ups apparently... A mate who goes every week tells me crowds are slowly coming back compared to earlier in the season but perhaps they will never get 80 to 90 k for a regular game post covod... I'm pretty sure the AFL grand final will be packed to the gills this year after 2 years overseas... regardless who plays.... dont worry about AFL, they are laughing now they got through the last 2 years......

Yeah mate, but if GWS ends up playing Gold Coast in the grand final this year, they will still pack the place out.... thats my point. meanwhile APL is begging Victorian fans just to turn up to their showpiece.... Pehlivanis : - “If you say you love football and you don’t come to the game, you’re actually doing a disservice to the game. Football fans excluded by racist policies for 17 years - "Ummm... get fucked" https://www.news.com.au/sport/football/western-united-ceo-calls-for-victorian-football-fans-to-ensure-a-healthy-aleague-grand-final-crowd/news-story/1aac19a19a035f45fc59d90c53a2eded

Not many seats left on the bottom tier less than 24 hours after going on sale.

Not many seats left on the bottom tier less than 24 hours after going on sale. Couldn't care less either way. Ill be at Lakeside and wouldn't even watch it on the telly if it was on.... Not "salty" as you put it at all. In fact, if you non WU and Melb City plastics had half a brain you would NOT attend but get out to one of many other tasty NPL fixtures on at the same time in melbourne that night. .. Getting a good crowd to the Aleague GF only signifies to the APL that "all is well" with the Aleague when it clearly isn't. The only way anything will change for the better is if it hurts the APLs hip pocket..... Pehlivanis claiming "true" football fans MUST attend the "El Plastico" doesn't understand what the term "doing a disservice to the game" really means .... clearly.

All I see here in this forum is passionate football supporters/followers from grass roots up who have invested alot of their time and money (not that that matters) into the game and hope for the better of game, typical of this forum much. Sure the top flight gets its priority in its own right, may I remind you grass roots/NPL etc had set up their fixture schedule beginning of the normal Winter Season, you do realise grounds are booked to capacity due to youth to Snr levels from morning to late arvos/early eves and you think just change fixtures by a couple of hours is easy lol..... Its not them to change fixtures on the account of the top flight that has changed its fixture and season koff in recent years.......... Just saying.
Love Football
