Watching Roar v Jets right now on Paramount. It's a terrible game, punctuated by being able to hear lone voices in the sparse crowd, and even being able to hear everything to coaches are shouting.

I remember people on here talking about how much better the atmosphere was supposedly going to be at Redcliffe ...

The game is an absolute dog's breakfast, looks terrible on TV, every element, including the terrible play by both clubs.

+x+xOk let me guess the attendance for this weekend it’s almost as fun as tipping: WU vs CCM 3k Wellington vs city is being played behind closed doors apparently Adelaide vs victory 9k Sydney vs wanderers 12k Brisbane vs Newcastle 5k MacArthur vs glory 3k
so if Adelaide and the Sydney match can get more then 10k it’ll be good
Attendances from this weekend Saturday 2nd AprilWestern United vs Central Coast - 1423Adelaide vs Victory - 8044Sydney vs Western Sydney - 10091Sunday 3rd AprilBrisbane vs Newcastle - Macarthur vs Perth - Western United remain underwhelming as usual, Adelaide are still consistent and the Sydney Derby just got over 10K. Here's hoping that the return to the SFS next season helps bump up that figure, even in the short-term, because anything under 10K is dire. Will post the others when the numbers are released My Lord the Sydney derby hasn't fallen.

He was a silky little player at times last year but tended to go the flop in the box quite easily and didn't have a lot of strength in him to handle some of the more robust NPL defenses.. Hope he goes well....

The Formula 1 had over 420,000 attendees over 4 days, the biggest ever at Albert Park and the biggest since Adelaide's last Grand Prix in 1995.

Matches from the past weekendAdelaide vs Macarthur - 5166Western United vs Wellington - 1425 [Played in Ballarat]Western Sydney vs Brisbane - 5233Central Coast vs Sydney - 5773Victory vs City - 17775Newcastle vs Perth - 4643- The Melbourne Derby has held a stable attendance over the three games so that's good. If there ends up being another one during the finals then there is no excuse for the crowds to be much higher.
- I would like to think that playing in Ballarat would make a difference to the crowd size, but this is WU we're talking about.
- Hate to be one of those Wanderers fans that showed up to see that travesty of a result.
Keepup is weirdly inconsistent when is comes to announcing attendance figures - some matches it is displayed in a few hours, whilst others it takes days.

Still don't know the Mariners vs Sydney crowd numbers. Keepup is weirdly inconsistent when is comes to announcing attendance figures - some matches it is displayed in a few hours, whilst others it takes days. The ultimatealeague site has Mariners v Sydney as 5773.

kudos to the Vic/City game numbers. The rest pretty piss poor. No excuse's anymore regard to covid etc, having jumped on flights etc since early last week there isn't much excuse anymore, people are getting out and about all over the shop. Its the fair wethered new dawn AL/APL supporter who has gone far far far away long before covid. NPL land is ticking away with its regulars who are there through thick and thin.

Its the fair wethered new dawn AL/APL supporter who has gone far far far away long before covid. NPL land is ticking away with its regulars who are there through thick and thin. There is no doubt that covid, particularly omicron, has had a significant impact on average attendance at the league this season. The uncertainty when the season would start, the decision to cram the league into a shorter time frame and the cancellation of games due to government decisions, players getting covid etc meant an unprecedented number of games scheduled for midweek and a number of games played with restricted attendance. The result has been an average attendance at weekend games of 6000, midweek games 3000 and a combined average attendance of 5200. Looking at both AFL and NRL attendances so far this season they both have returned to normal so the huge effect covid had on their previous seasons appears to be a thing of the past. The A-League, however, doesn't appear to have picked up as the season has moved into the more favourable conditions. Some of this may be because lowering of attendances as the season moves post Christmas is normal for the A-League and some of it may be a general disappointment with the APL and the league. To get a proper understanding of how the A-League is going re attendance we will have to wait until we get a season with a normal start and few interruptions. Hopefully that will be next season. One positive for next season might be Sydney FC moving in to the new SFS from the start of the season. Not qualifying for the World Cup might be another.

Hey Gyfox, why would you think that Aleague attendance might be boosted by NOT qualifying for a World Cup in November ... Is it because Aleague players wont be missing overseas and thus the local games are more appealing or something else I'm not considering? I would have thought that the Socceroos at a World Cup would, if nothing else, at least draw attention to sport lovers who otherwise dont engage and perhaps a small portion of those might give the local game a try if they liked what they saw? I am still of the opinion that the NSL may have survived if some of those fateful qualifiers (yes Im looking at you Scotland and Iran) went another way... maybe.

Isn't it an international window period because of the WC though? Are any of the international designated star ISUZU UTE players a chance to represent their country in the world cup this year? Sturridge hasn't made an England squad since last decade, who else would be affected?

But that's about it if the Aussies don't qualify.

One positive for next season might be Sydney FC moving in to the new SFS from the start of the season. Not qualifying for the World Cup might be another. As we all know, the A League has been in decline for many years. My personal view is that the botched expansion has been a tipping point of disillusion amid, as you say, disappointment with the APL's complete failure too deliver anything of substance, the fact that TV games are now a depressing vista of empty seats, the poor standard of our local coaches which has played a significant role in the mostly poor football on offer. I honestly don't see how the A League recovers from this position. The brand is tainted, the product is poor. There's no boost from the WC this time and the current team is the worst in my memory and close to unwatchable. I think that the most likely scenario is that the A League dribbles on as a rump competition until the TV deal runs out and then there will be no money for it to continue. On current figures there will be no next TV deal. What happens after that, I have no idea. Perhaps some extraordinary circuit breaker will appear, though I can't imagine what that would be. I was at the first game in season 1. I've paid for television subs for every season. I had the joy of attending all of Brisbane's Grand Finals. I have Paramount but I barely watch games. They Melbourne derby was the first I watched live in a month. Why? Because the football is poor and the TV spectacle depressing. Because of Brisbane's relocation it can no longer attend live games. So I have a choice between watching edits of the poor A League games played in the front of noone, organic watching a replay featuring Klopps Liverpool... This isn't being a Eurosnob - this is about having limited time and losing faith in any capacity for the local game to progress.

Match results over the weekend Friday 15th April Macarthur Vs Brisbane - 2809 Saturday 16th April Western United vs Perth - 2231 [Played in Launceston] Newcastle vs Victory - 5649 Sunday 17th April Wellington vs Central Coast - 18184
I'll admit, I didn't think WU would get that many in Tasmania despite it still being low. Pheonix got ~24,000 for the last game at Wellington last season but then again it wasn't scheduled for Easter Sunday. Given they are in for a better shot at the finals this season then even with today's letdown a good crowd should be there.
