+xDamn man this is sad to see you’re usually a positive poster and now understandably you’re vouching for people to leave the stadium I’m taking this all the way. If the first 20 minutes on Saturday ends up being my last game of the season, so be it. It should never come to this, but I will do whatever it takes to win. The AL is dead if we don't win.

+xSo I guess attendance is gonna rocket down now. Are we looking at averages of 3k? I'm genuinely curious if it will or why it would affect, for example, Adelaide crowd next home game. Not sure we will know if it did either given crowds fluctuate so much on weekdays in holidays

Families might feel safe to attend anymore. It’ll be interesting what happens next round

Melbourne probably feels different but I just don't see why an Adelaide family wouldn't take their kids like every other week next Round unless they were already planning not to. I'd question whose opinions you were getting online re family safety. I have only seen that line peddled by people who never really went anyway.

I think the crowds would have been down anyway by the way, I'm not exactly expecting bumper crowds on the 27th here

I was looking on Melbourne city pages on Facebook but even at the ground you can see people weren’t exactly enjoying themselves. This incident has killed the family demographic at least in Melbourne

This incident has killed the family demographic at least in Melbourne I'd be surprised if it was "killed". Not sure the Facebook wowser demographic is totally representative of all families. "I wouldn't take my kids there ever again" aka I don't really go myself and my kids are in their late 30s and won't be my friend on Facebook I mean sure, obviously a % of families there that day won't come back. I think it's just as likely to be the second death of active support(after a mini resurgence) and another chunk of the clingers on were already going to leave coz of the APL shitshow.

+xLook at the Wollongong Stadium, looks like a Cow paddock, Cows that have been having sexual relations with Bulls, what a shithouse surface! No One has gone to the Wellington vs Wanderers match. Why do the APL continue to prostitute itself and keep to shit deals like having to play a match at the neutral Wollongong? The APL have obviously not gone out of they're way to keep the momentum going, coming from the Socceroos. How can Soccer not feel embarrassed? I know, because they have no shame. O'Rourke and Townsend do me personally a favour and just resign. Well...... Wonder how Hindmarsh stadium will fill their seats lol

I was at the game. Cracking atmosphere, great crowd. Well done Mariners. I moved to the central coast from Sydney about a decade ago. It's a pleasure to see the area flourish as a football region. It's clearly the number one sport in the area and perhaps one of the only few places in Australia where football is truly the number one sport in terms of participation and collective interest. Everyone here knows of and talks about the Mariners.

Why do they film the side of the stadium with fewer people? It is pretty hot on that side and nobody will usually sit there. It would be better for optics. I am imaging it is some logistical reason.

I am imaging it is some logistical reason. It's the sun. Neither the camera nor the spectators want to be looking straight into it. Not an issue for night games, but too much hassle and expense to swap broadcast side all the time. Only time I recall it being done was initial year of FFA cup.

It’s a shame because I firmly believe these things matter. The Roar ground is the same, if you get an afternoon game it is horrid on the non-sheltered side but the shaded area looks near full.

I'd like to think this confirms my thinking in our discussion above. None of the MANY families at Hindmarsh the other night felt unsafe because of a few meth heads in another city. I think in Adelaide we have a small but football literate fan base who gets these things and aren't going to be put off loving football by some boomer wowsers on facebook who never went to games anyway crying crocodile tears. Incidentally it didn't come across in the broadcast (I checked the replay) but when the Red Army unveiled their anti APL banner and chant an applause went around the whole stadium. The commentator obviously had no idea as he just said "the crowds really enjoying themselves here" aha
