+xIn fact, quarantine will almost certainly still be in place in July, so the two home WCQs in July will probably also have to be played by a local squad anyway, while our overseas based Socceroos go to the Copa. There, sorted. If the FFA had the WCQs played by local squads there would be no justification whatsoever to pull out of the Copa while our overseas players who would be available to play in it sit at home on the couch. We could even temporarily hire a South American coach who knows the lay of the land to take care of the squad at the Copa while Arnie focuses on the WCQs. What about our opposition players? They can’t be expected to quarantine here for two weeks

Jordan is another question, of course.

+xWhy wouldn't everybody (the majority) be vaccinated by then? Basic supply & demand. Demand is overwhelming exceeding supply. There are no where near enough facilities manufacturing vaccines at the volumes the world needs. Most (if not all) facilities are already falling behind on production. Then there is the issue of actually getting people vaccinated, but that is a whole other multifaceted issue in itself.

I still don't understand why Scomo didn't start local production months ago though. The risk of having to throw all the doses out if it didn't pass certification was nothing compared to the reward we could have had for having tens of millions of doses ready to go in advance for ourselves and our neighbours.

It's not entirely up to him. Certification process aside, it's still up to the pharmaceutical corporations to work out the logistics and supply chains.

There is no way they will have anywhere near enough citizens vaccinated to achieve her immunity by July. I think the Olympics are more likely but still a long shot. Surprisingly, Japanese people have some of the highest levels of Vaccine hesitancy and I've seen reports that they are way behind most countries in even ordering shipments of vaccines. The only way I can see the Olympics going ahead is without crowds. Even the Euros could be a tough task to pull off in July but definitely better placed than the above 2. It totally sucks

CSL started manufacturing the Oxford vaccine on 9 Nov 2020. Exactly! Why not back in April, when it was cleared for human trials? If it was considered an acceptable risk to put the vaccine into 1077 human beings (sans the control group) beginning on April 23rd, surely risking couple of million taxpayer bucks on getting production up and running at that time is nothing in comparison, considering the potential upside.

Japanese government insist that the games are on, so that means they're on. Reuter will be back after one week suspension for Phoenix as they try and get their season back on track.

The Lefties are the ones creating the fight by their whining and childish acts like handing back an award (ABC's indoctrinated Kerry O'Brien). Chairman Dan has even gone a step further with his bitching when he should mind his own business and concentrate on repenting the 800 deaths under his leadership.

Why would the government let the other team's players into the country but not ours? Its the impracticality of a 14 day quarantine period for a midweek game. Our overseas stars will not come back for it

Margaret Court got her upgrade for tennis. I have no problem that she gets the award - she has won the most grand slams of any one person. However, it should have been awarded in 1978 the year after she famished playing tennis. There is no justification for it now. Her views on other matters are no different than other people have said that have not got any award. So why upgrade her 'tennis' award now. The fact that it awarded now is purely another divisive action by Morrison by using her views to hide the fact that he has had no plan except to rort everything in sight. No plan for quarantine, no plan for aged care, no plan for bushfires, no plan for Covid response. He has been dragged kicking and screaming to action when he has made any action - whether by Premiers of both sides of politics or by other advocates. He wanted to be leader - I am past waiting for him to start.

As for being "divisive" I don't find it "divisive" at all to recognize her sporting achievements. Besides most of these awards are dished out to people for just doing their jobs, at least she has talent.
it seems the only time things are not "divisive" is when someone agrees with what those on the regressive side of politics want. Her award is being made "divisive" by them. You'll get your chance to vote ScoMo and have him replaced by ...um..what's his name
