Spurs implosion. 2:0 lead given up to Brighton to lead 3:2. Nicely taken goals but also poor defending. Geez.

The perks of Ange ball is they play though the lines of teams and create chances like they did against Man United but when don’t do that then it exposes their poor rest defence and therefore their defending gets too frantic and mistakes will creep into their game.
A good example is their first goal they conceded, Udogie has to cover so much ground from inverting into midfield that he makes a poor defensive mistake by not clearing that cross and Brighton score an easy goal you can’t concede soft goals like especially in the premier league where most teams have the quality to punish you. After that Spurs had this tornado effect and still conceded two more poor goals from similar problems they experienced with their defending style.
In simple men terms they will never reach their goals this season and overall win a trophy if they don’t improve their collective and individual defending, it doesn’t help that they play a high line whilst taking so much risk in their build up as it puts a lot of pressure in their defending whether covering man v man or a simple rest defence. I would like to see a different build up where they play with a 3-2 or a 3-1 in possession rather than he’s usual 2-3-5 in possession where they can control the game more efficiently whilst making their rest defence more rock solid from counter attacks.
I really want Ange to do well but he has to take a different attitude to controlling a game and overall defending otherwise i don’t things will improve from last season.

They will continue to entertain but its going to be yo-yo stuff the rest of the way. I dont actually rate their defenfers either, Udogie is rubbish and Romero is one of the wirst captains in the epl. Ange will not win a trophy at Spurs. Depending on injuries will likely finish best case 5th again to worse case around 10th. Last year they had the hot start so the latter more likely unfortunately.

Not that I watch Spurs all the time but I don't get the Udogie hype, feel that if Ange had the luxury of Van Der Ven at LB that it would make a difference.

I can't off the top of my head. +xNot that I watch Spurs all the time but I don't get the Udogie hype, feel that if Ange had the luxury of Van Der Ven at LB that it would make a difference. After a slow start returning from injury, he has been pretty solid in recent weeks. One terrible defensive mistake doesn't make him a dud, but you could see he was rattled after the mistake and Ange should have subbed him out. If you wanna criticise anyone, it should be Romero. He is responsible for most of the goals they have conceded this season. I don't understand why Dragusin doesn't play more

I really want Ange to do well but he has to take a different attitude to controlling a game and overall defending otherwise i don’t things will improve from last season. The concerning thing is that the capitulation last night had nothing to do with “Ange ball”. They usually concede because of their suicidal high line via a simple through ball or a lob over the top of the last line that takes the defenders out. They get caught up the field and it often costs them a goal, but Ange is obviously prepared to live with those as long as they stay dangerous the other way.
Last night was completely different. They didn’t get caught on the break or anything like that. There were multiple defenders back for each of the goals. It had very little to do with tactics. They simply defended like a pub team, both individually and as a unit. The first goal was down to Udogie’s horrific attempted clearance, but ok, individual mistakes happen. It was the other two that were so disheartening. The second has both Romero and van der Ven backing away from Rutter in lockstep, allowing him an age to swivel and adjust his position for the shot. The third was just as embarrassing, with Udogie beaten again on the right, Bentancur ball watching instead of covering Rutter on the byline, and Romero, Solanke and Van Der Ven casually standing around on the wrong side of Wellbeck, who I’m sure couldn’t believe his luck to find himself so open. It was just so so poor. There’s no way Spurs will get anywhere with such atrocious defending.
That was a real killer. I don’t think Ange will survive the season. Spurs simply don’t have the players or the right attitude. It wasn’t just Udogie that stunk up the place. Porro on the other side couldn’t get close to Mitoma. I don’t think he prevented a single cross. Mitoma did as he liked. And Romero has become a massive liability. He does stupid shit every game now, but Spurs are stuck with him because Dragusin is just as bad and, unlike Romero, can’t even pick out a forward pass. Bentancur is just a slug. Really not sure what he brings. He’s incredibly slow and lacks intensity at the best of times.
That really disappointed and disillusioned me. I’ve enjoyed watching Tottenham since Ange has been there, but last night was a painful reality check.

seems like if you can survive the first 30 mins against Spurs you will get chances to win the game later on.

I mean, yes it's a friendly. But technically. Closest (under Socceroos) would be the 2014 World Cup game against Netherlands being 2-1 up, but obviously that is quite different. Will have to look at his club seasons to see if he's done it outside of the above (or before this weekend) EDIT: quick scope of the 2018 Yokohoma season, and 2021-22 onwards (including friendlies) for Celtic + Tottenham, closest are a few 2-1 leads that have gone away through the game. - 2021-22 Europa League - Beyer Leverkusen v Celtic (3-2 loss)
- 2022-23 Scottish Premiership - Hibernian v Celtic (4-2 loss)
- 2023-24 Friendly - Barcelona v Tottenham (4-2 loss)

I agree re the defense no matter the highline, most teams play the highline, you can't blame the gaffa its the players (defense) imploding and making error after error. Ange's issue he lacks more quality on his bench and another thing some are not taking into account, the Seagulls at home will always give every visitor a run for the money even 2nil down. They have won 3 drawn 3 they are a better squad than Spurs - last season had 6 more draws than Spurs, if they picked up most of those points would have finished above them. Ange needs to bolster Jan window big time, forget trophies they don't have the depth.

the buck will be focussed on him no doubt spurs and media smokes and mirrors, Levy is the biggest BUCK forever and a day. Ange has had 2 windows, wouldn't count the first what he inherited and they still a work in progress but todays game time is the enemy. Vicario was a top GK signing, he needs to shore up the defense and mentality. Review their results and it all stems to defense, Leicester drew late in the first game. Had the Toons covered but lost late in the game. 1nil expected defat vs Gooners. This loss is a bummer when your 2up, again mental breakdown. This is where he needs to get his guys stronger for 90+mins. 7 games in 10th 4 points from 4th. Hammers next @ home followed by Palace away, he gets 2 wins some relief comes.

Ange has strengthened the squad over time but the last transfer window included a lot of young players who aren't going to peak for a few more years. People have to be patient. I see a lot of Spurs fans losing their heads. I don't think anyone could come in and do a better job so why keep changing managers?

Think he might be genuinely in trouble now. Pretty terrible performance against Palace. If they get turfed in the Carabao cup by City's kids and drop points to Villa i think that will see him out. No real consistency from game to game and far too many mistakes at the back.

Hard to call though - Selhurst never easy to walk away with 3points - this is how palace survive in the league. Yes they should beat them but they still lack that extra cutting edge.

Crazy how open EPL has been this year. If he had beat Brighton and Palace they would be 6th and probably still being talked up.
Has to get a result against Villa.

The most Spurs thing is to snatch 10th from the Jaws of 3rd by losing to relegation contender Ipswitch.
I'm not sure how much Ange's "tactical naivity" comes into it when you can beat City and Villa in the space of a week and then lose to that lot.
One thing is for certain, there are very few clubs these days that are bigger than the player and their agents.
The downing of tools is not a conspiracy theory i'm afraid.
