He was absolutely awful when he signed for Chainat in Thailand :laugh: At one stage he looked so damn promising, but poor career choices and untimely injuries have seen him not realize his potential. A real shame.

Adelaide are seemingly going to be signing Nick Ansell which would be an underwhelming replacement for Elsey. The owners seem intent on slashing the budget so next season could get very ugly if we get a few injuries.

I like how Wellington are trying to get their squad together early.   They already have 16 players signed on 18 if you include paulsson and old who most likely getting promoted. Good to have the team done early especially with covid interruptions

And our second signing is set to be George Blackwood. I have defended him in the past but we really don't need him given we have three younger, better, more promising strikers.

Ivan Kelava has signed for Victory and is in quarantine. 

Tbh always thought Blackwood looked better just behind the main striker, so could be a good alternate between him and a genuine no.10

Baffling signing. His previous stint wasn't overly impressive and he had plenty of opportunities, but he lacks the speed, conviction, and composure that a striker needs. Crazy suggestion but maybe he could play an attacking midfield/playmaker role? I honestly thought that's when he played his best games for us, but that isn't saying all that much. I'm only trying to justify where he could fit in our starting XI because I can't see us signing him as a bench player..

Ansell is one I just can't predict. Many MV fans on social media are happy to see him go, but we've helped former Melbourne boys revitalise their careers before (Galekovic, Jeggo, and Galloway come to mind). I see him at his best as equivalent skill-wise to Elsey but no better, so this is still at best a side-grade to me.

He's certainly shown glimpses of what he's capable of but doesn't seem able to string a series of good games together.  Still a handy pickup for Adelaide.

Crocombe has signed for Grimsby Town. Denis Genreau has been linked with Toulouse while Clayton has said he’s in negotiations with Victory.

Genreau linked with Toulouse who are in Ligue 2, it would be an interesting move not sure if he's ready for Europe but maybe he impressed them during the Olympic campaign.
