+xhigher for arzani for mine Was interesting that Spain players tried to rattle him in first 5 minutes of game. Coaches orders?? Must have seen him against Argies and thought he could be attacking threat for Spain. Arzani should take it as a compliment from a top opposition imo. Wonder if Arzani gets any club Euro contract offers soon, but given his rotten run in Europe an AL return might do him world of good in the long run

Atkinson was our best, alot of worked hard but he looked like the only one that looked comfortable out there against a world class opponent.
Even he got a 6, I dont think King wasnt that bad in fact he defended well against Dani Olmo.

+xEven he got a 6, I dont think King wasnt that bad in fact he defended well against Dani Olmo. Disagree, he gave Olmo too much time and was not confident in possession. He's never played in a game like that at senior level, so it's unsurprising. He plays for Sydney where his average position would be at least 20m further upfield and they rarely have less of the ball

In saying that stats are black and white as we all know. I agree young King left too much room a few times or more so didn't read it (hard to beat one touch and movement like they did) as well But at the same time he recovered very well also. Broke down the cross now and then or forced them playing back. Almo is a brilliant player might I add. Both our outside backs had top flankers to deal with plus add Pedri moving around. Atko was great 1st half for me but once they changed putting that Gil his side that kid made alot of space for himself and attacked the flank making cross's and cut in a fair bit. Talking about being dribbled by twice, I'd cop that compared to the nutty Arzani suffered mind you. Gawd you hate that.

Wonder if Arzani gets any club Euro contract offers soon, but given his rotten run in Europe an AL return might do him world of good in the long run actually quite the opposite. probably tried to rattle him because he holds on possession for so long then turns it over. he's a press trigger because he gives them back the ball and holds the ball long enough for them to at on it. it's a pretty standard mo for pressing, to target the weakest link. he's much like kruse but probably more costly in possession. a couple flashy runs past opponents with zero end product. his turnover rate would be amongst the worst in the team. this was particularly bad v spain where we could not get any real possession. he's too much of a luxury player to play in midfield and needs to be an outright wing in a front 3 - he doesnt really suit this formation. he did have a couple good moments though but crossed into no one in the box. jmac would have ate that shit up. i dont understand the duke inclusion at all, but that's another story.

Aside from significantly reducing our chances of progression, the shop window is now closed for him if we go out. Dumb.

Would love to see him and tillio on at once

I'm more disappointed about his suspension for the next match than about the loss to Spain. I think it makes it significantly more difficult to get a result against Egypt.

No player got lower then a 6....I dont know what game you were watching....looking at these ratings you would think we won this match 2-nil we played gallantly, but make no mistake we were played off the park... Our Midfield never had any control, 27% possession, we had 2/0 shots to Spains 15/5 etc Just because we are playing superior opposition doesnt mean the 'player rating' get extra points. Not discrediting GA or the boys but these ratings are clearly 2 points too high for every player - if it Spain were rating our players they would give zero credit and simply say Australia parked the bus, rod their luck when we hit the bar but ultimately we broke though and the Australians offered nothing after going 1 down.

Haven't even read them.
Our obsession with defining players by what occurs in Europe disturbs me - Atkinson.
Brenton Speed is one of the worst commentators in any sport. To constantly talk about players' club careers, and what is happening elsewhere away from the game on view, is ludicrous.

I thought the same about Speed.... utterly shithouse, sounds like the local AFL/NRL bogan with a bunch of player profile notes infront of him and a "beginners guide to the offside rules" book for reference... Has he commentated soccer anywhere else before, he was appaling.
