We're on the eve of a pre-season, with COVID restrictions likely to continue in Sydney for at least another 3 weeks.
Hopefully Adelaide and Melbourne can open up soon.

I’ve got the feeling that the AL shouldn’t start until October given the issues with Covid.

Earlier this month, it was already indicated that the APL want a late October start. The FA have indicated they would actually prefer a late November start to completely avoid international windows. Given the current state of things, I doubt there would be much push to start any earlier. 

I haven’t heard that, but that’s good if it is the case. Over half the population should be immunised by then.

I actually like the November start date long term. Allows us to get the benefits of Summer and Winter
