There’s a reason why Ruka doesn’t have many caps and that’s because he doesn’t really contribute when he does get called up.

We've already got enough experience in the squad, we needed game changers/ winners - we definitely didn't need 2 over 30 CBs added. I would've liked to have seen Lachlan Jackson get a chance - plays 90 mins every week for Suwon & Thurgate/ Valpato to replace Rogic. But we've got who we've got, so let's support them & hopefully they can pull off the unexpected 

Jackson was Newcastle’s 4th choice CB a year ago. Just because he plays overseas, doesn’t mean he’s good.

Hell Alex Grant played in an ACL final and he was only a solid A-League level player.

They need to win the league to get into the ACL next year, already have injuries in the backline, and four players out for Socceroos already already. I can understand why they don't want to lose him for two games and training just so he can sit on the bench for 180 minutes.

Other leagues don't play during international windows, so it's not so much of an issue. That said, yes, it's almost certainly actually happened.

Whatrever the rules it's poor form. Clubs do not usually exercise these things for WCQ - especially crucial ones.

I know Liverpool did it with Salah, but that was because he was not only going to miss through teh qualifying period but also a few weeks afterwards through having to quarantine.

The announcement follows Liverpool sending a letter to the Egyptian national team, stating that they would not be releasing Mohamed Salah for the matches anyway, due to Egypt still being a red-list country for the UK as the pandemic continues. If he doesn’t travel for the match against Angola, it is unlikely he will travel for Gabon, as well.
Salah is not the only player, as the league had announced that no player from a red-list country would be released to their national teams during the September and October international breaks, as they would be required to enter into a 10 day quarantine upon their return.

Good wasn't selected in the initial extended Socceroos squad (apparently can list up to 50 players), so the club don't have to release him. It's a FIFA rule.
