+x+xI’ve been reading this forum for well over a decade. Maybe close to 15 years - well before it became inside sport. I’ve only just resolved to make an account and post today to comment on how dog shit this squad is. really feels like a nadir. I’m quite despondent. Very few more players we could call upon with so many good players missing. Souttar, Irvine, Mooy, McGree and Rogic missing amongst Goodwin and Rukavytsya is nothing to sneeze at. Absolulutely disgraceful by Melbourne City. A vital World Cup qualifier with many out due to Covid or injury and they won’t release Good so he can play an A League match. you can blame Arnold for a lot of things but our playing pool is already weak enough. It’s not as though Curtis Good is irreplaceable . Piss poor by M C

+xI wonder at the continued absence of Rukavystya in our set up. Arnie called him up last window, but didn't play him (or was it 5 minutes at the end), which is a poor reflection on his ability as a coach of the national team that he is unable to get our best and most in form striker to do a job for us. Ruka isn’t vaccinated so can’t travel. Even if he was, he’s definitely not our best striker and probably wouldn’t be in the squad anyway.

+x+x+x+xWilkinson McGowan in for rowles and rogic arnold favouritism continues ffs. Neither of them are AM?! 2 defenders in to replace Rogic?! 🤪 call Volpato up for SA game FFS Just to expand on this. Both are replacing Rowles but are playing one game each due to the logistical challenges of flying players half way across the world at short notice. Wilko will be in the squad for the Sydney game given he’s based there while the Kuwait based McGowan will be in the squad for the Saudi game. Makes sense and no one else really needs to come in now. Time is too short from abroad and they won't realistically play. Having Wilkinson's experience in the camp will be positive. We've already got enough experience in the squad, we needed game changers/ winners - we definitely didn't need 2 over 30 CBs added. I would've liked to have seen Lachlan Jackson get a chance - plays 90 mins every week for Suwon & Thurgate/ Valpato to replace Rogic. But we've got who we've got, so let's support them & hopefully they can pull off the unexpected

Just because he plays overseas, doesn’t mean he’s good. Hell Alex Grant played in an ACL final and he was only a solid A-League level player.

Ruka only ever gets subbed on late despite being golden boot winner in Israel. Never starts?! so has never been given proper chance to show his quality imho

Piss poor by M C They need to win the league to get into the ACL next year, already have injuries in the backline, and four players out for Socceroos already already. I can understand why they don't want to lose him for two games and training just so he can sit on the bench for 180 minutes.

+x+x+x+xWilkinson McGowan in for rowles and rogic arnold favouritism continues ffs. Arnie actually wanted to call up Spiranovic but he has covid as well as Curtis Good who City refused to release. Apparently City don't have to release Good as he wasn't named in an initial extended squad. Maybe they don't have to release him but I think they should. Can you imagine an English club not releasing an English player before a crucial WC qualifier? (Or has that actually happened?) I mean, FFS, Arnold has had to resort to McGowan. Other leagues don't play during international windows, so it's not so much of an issue. That said, yes, it's almost certainly actually happened.

Ridiculous argument

Dog act by the oil karnts on our patch Its going to be really interesting how many Melbourne City players are allowed to play in the inevitable 3rd place qualifier against UAE ....... There would be blood in the streets if they tried this on in England or France, here its just ....... "meh, at least foreign teams are better than the old NSL clubs".

+x+x+x+x+x+x+xAnge looking after Celtic, first Maeda and now Rogic. Must have a big big match coming up !!! Wow, a club coach wanting to protect his players from further injury ..... how shocking :) Remember the Aussie way which Ange used to bore on about, '"Country first ". Ah well another Greek hypocrite ! If the Rangers match was on this weekend, i guarantee that both would play. Hahahaha Angie really has gotten under your skin eh? So what hurts the most, that Rogic wont play for the Socceroos or that he will bang in 3 against the zombies? hahahahahahahah Rogic has been a ghost figure for three seasons against Rangers. Ever since Gerrard arrived he has been posted missing in nearly every game that he has played. As for fat Flange, he is a weak man who is an amusement to me. Your'e living in the past man.... how much worse is it to watch a fat, weak manager lift another trophy with green ribbons on it? lol You don't do irony much, do you ? only if it rains on my wedding day or when I get a free ride when I'm already late...... :P

I know Liverpool did it with Salah, but that was because he was not only going to miss through teh qualifying period but also a few weeks afterwards through having to quarantine. But yeah, I don't think if england had a do or die game they'd be happy

Understandable covid technicalities went against Salah and other africans etc might I add during those WC quali games. No one would like it period depending their circumstances....... The announcement follows Liverpool sending a letter to the Egyptian national team, stating that they would not be releasing Mohamed Salah for the matches anyway, due to Egypt still being a red-list country for the UK as the pandemic continues. If he doesn’t travel for the match against Angola, it is unlikely he will travel for Gabon, as well. Salah is not the only player, as the league had announced that no player from a red-list country would be released to their national teams during the September and October international breaks, as they would be required to enter into a 10 day quarantine upon their return. This local situation is pure MC selfishness.

+xWhat an absolute Trainwreck!!! I still don't know how Irvine plays 90 mins on the weekend and 2 days later mysteriously has Covid?!! I'm fully behind the team, but Arnold is a complete nufty - as if you replace probably our best AM with an over the hill CB?!!! Like WTF?!!! If he doesn't want to bring in Valpato, bring in Thurgate - he's probably the form CM in the comp & can pretty much play any position. I see Deni Juric played yesterday - why wasn't he in the squad?!! what is there to understand? he played then caught the virus

Im calling it now we are going to get smashed 4-1, the only bright spot would be hopefully they throw GA the biggest fraud in Australian football with our hopes of going to Qatar out the window. Full disclosure: Would love to be wrong!

Full disclosure: Would love to be wrong! Very nervous, expecting to get done over, but as you say, love to be proved wrong. Would love fro Fornirolli to get a couple. How many squads has Stensness been in? He's yet to play a minute I think, and Arnie made a big song and dance about bringing him in. Sums up this series.
