Just watched the highlights from last nights NJ v PG play-off game. Didn't look like Perth wanted to win. Two years in a row they will miss out on the cup.

That's because most of their starting team were under the age of 20

Don't they get the option to play through the rounds like any other team?

Edit: I had lost sight of the rounds already played to qualify. This or nothing it is.

When the 2 expansion teams were brought in, the knockout system was brought in keep the A-League teams at the same number.

This time, the knockout is at the end of season for the 4 clubs instead of pre-season.

Thanks for that - I was just looking it up now and had not registered that they are already many rounds into qualifying for the round of 32 even though I knew it. Tunnel vision.

Ground capacity at Wanderers Football Park for this pitch is 1,000.

Surely they will get 1000 Wanderers fans to the game then - the bad weather looks to be missing Greater Sydney (source: BOM radar for anyone who requires a source for statements).

I'd give a local team $15 gladly - would feel funny to be giving it to an aleague team given the Australia Cup is normally about the little team hosting to get the takings for a boost. I wonder if that is what it costs ($15k) to host a game at a small ground maybe? I have no idea who pays for what at a game like this.

Compared to free entry for the Newcastle v Perth game!

The Australia Cup is an FA competition so it gets covered by the FA's broadcaster.

Hope Ivanovic gets a full season next time around 

Interesting to see if WSW offers Rudan a full contract now. If they do, it will be 6 years in row that WSW don't make finals.

Not getting carried away - we have played well against crap teams all season then gone to the dogs against quality - but we are a better team by far when we have Aldred, Ivanovic, and Mileusnic fully fit. Big game from Aldred and I acknowledge we may have been lucky not to lose him for that shirt grab - if Ams had been giving out cards for every shirt grab - which he wasn't.

So nice to see Ivanovic trusting his body and putting effort into his speed and guile.
So nice to have Mileusnic acting as a foil for him as another speedy option who draws more than one defender when he opens up.
And good on Dehmie for being on the spot for his goal and putting it away.

Brindell-South seems to be coming ahead in leaps and bounds as a substitute - both with and without the ball.

Lucky for us that our desperation and their inaccuracy kept Wanderers only one goal up to start.

Here's a dodgy statistic for you - every game we have won in the last month has had the score 3-1 our way.

Controlled and effective second half with the three subs making a real impact. Well done Roar!
