+x+x+xAT one point pre-covid, the salary cap was around $3.1M per annum, maybe it was about to go up by another $100k, but when COVID hit and broadcaster started offering less money than oriignally contracted, I'd say all the players took a 10% cut or something similar. So if you take an educated guess at the cap being around $2.8M, and exclude 2 marquees, then roughly 20 players into $2.8M is $140,000 per player, when you start adjusting for 5 or 6 players on the minimum wage of some $60,000 per annum, the average for the remainder becomes closer to $200,000 per annum. 20 players is the minimum. 26 players is the max. Minimum wage is $45k (for 16-19 year olds) as per the new CBA. You also need to take into account other exemptions like Loyalty, etc. Last year the PFA released a study late last year which put the average A-League salary at $138k. That might sound ok, but the average Indian Super League salary is $150k and the average K-League salary is $233k. We are well behind what where we should be. Unfortunately the beautiful game does not get the same amount of attention in this beautiful country. As such football never gets the financial support it needs and unfortunately, one of the major reasons, why Socceroos have a head wind to make progress to the next level in terms of a footballing nation. +xHi guys, Apologies if I've missed a thread on this, but I'm genuinely interested in this subject. What would a standard A-league player be earning? I'm not talking about marquees as i know they are very varied, but a standard squad player who might play 20 games a season, what would they be earning? Reason i ask is there is a huge amount of player movement in the league each season, and relocating can be super expensive, as well as always renting housing instead of purchasing, its an expensive exercise. For example Stefan colakovski and Harry Van der Saag have just relocated, id be interested to know their contract sizes. Does anyone have any idea? You can search their earning on the internet. You can search for some A-league players such as Messi. I think you earn much. Then, you can have fun with tiny fishing. Have a nice day!

Our average salary is about right I think. If other leagues have more income and revenue streams and more money in the game, then there are higher salaries. We have had almost 20 years of a fully professional football league, and this is where the sport is at. If players think they deserve higher salaries then there are plenty of leagues out there that they can earn it. Perhaps our growth will be slower. And that's just the environment we are in. Unfortunately.
