+x+xWell said. The Apl might have that $12 million now but a poor GF crowd will look terrible and there won’t be any other states willing to cough up another $12 million in 3 years time.
Home/away season games have mostly poor attendance numbers since GF decision was made - surely club membership numbers will suffer next season also. Plastic fickle fans. Yeah maybe. Sad but true. It’s not an old established league like Spfl that has long history and really dedicated fans 🙁

+xI think a lot of people miss the point, they already have the money ,which is probably more than they would normally make if it was the old way. If the goal was to make money, you wouldn't buy an a-league club. The point is, fk the aleague and its clubs. The fans have walked.

Good on her.
Looking increasingly likely to be a City vs Adelaide GF in the mens too which is hilarious.
They must be praying WSW does one of us in the semis as they well could on their day

+x+x+xSFC handing out complimentary tickets to Womens Grand Final already And when they half fill the stadium with give aways they will hail the progress of women's football and use it to demand wage equality with the blokes AFLW GF was totally free a few years ago. With the home team playing in their own city. I wonder if they had the same bullcrap chatter about it like we do. 🙄 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_AFL_Women%27s_Grand_FinalWho really gives a shit?? How is it worth anyone's time posting about it and complaining. over 50k was that the actual crowd? sounds a bit inflated

Logically wages should reflect audience size.

+x+xand there in lies the headlines, check out the good APL crowd and some here will support it. the A-Leagues are pleased to offer you 2 complimentary general admissiontickets to the 2023 Liberty A-League Women’s Grand Final atCommBank Stadium on Sunday 30th April at 4pm. I remember the other week you were shocked that Melbourne Victory used to give out free tickets like it was some secret exposed. It's not a secret, everyone does it. I remember back when the a-league was pumping you could go into a Bank SA here (or someone like that) and ask for a ticket. Members got 2 free tickets to all Friday night games. You guys are so ready to jump on anything anti aleague you;re losing your minds I asked about the southern free ticks for thats pretty much the only way MC would get much of a crowd to this day, MV been fine till things have slid for sometime not just since the pitch invasion. I know freebies are handed out since man was born BUT for a GF, and this soon I find it pretty desparate and it says it all. Sure like any business lets milk anyway we can to get support and a good crowd but its a GF, TBH the growth of the womens game from my observations at grounds over the weekend I reckon there's a good chance the crowd will be healtheir than the mens. With leading into the WC I won't be surprised. Give out ticks at the death, last week leading into the GF having watched your pax. By the way I have 2 team mates who are huge W supporters due to their girls playing Rep, both these guys have pre bought to every WWC Sydney game, every one of them incl their daughters. Why I say WTF already distributing free ticks. Hope you settle ok :)

Is this just Sydney FC fans because they will be the only Sydney based team in the ALW finals? And will they do the same for the men just to get bums on seats if it’s a City v Adelaide/CCM/Wellington GF? And will SFC/WSW fans stick to their promise of not attending if their team doesn’t qualify? Or will they jump at the freebee and sell us all out? I wonder if the APL have yet woken up to the reality of what a monumental disaster this is going to be? Why on earth would anyone even consider buying a ticket to the ALW GF at this point? All I see is its SFC members that I have for my daughter so thats 2 complimentry for the WGF.. I haven't followed the link to redeem but I'd say there will be discount for the Mens GF as well.

In DT’s own words: ‘free tickets are considered worthless’ 😆 so why give them away now?! What a hypocrite. And his ‘better way of engaging with fans’ is to play GF’s in Sydney - shafting clubs/supporters from other states 👏

All you have done is prove my point
You came into a thread about moving the GF to Sydney and joked they are giving away free tickets
You chose this thread to post that lame put-down for a reason ie. you were making and trying to show a correlation
Don't try to now claim some overarching point about free tickets devaluing a brand
The debate about free tickets devaluing the product has been done forever.

You guys are so ready to jump on anything anti aleague you;re losing your minds Exactly, what do people expect the APL to do. If the table stays the way it is, it's going to be a MC/WU GF. They couldn't sell out an actual home GF for the mens last season. Might as well give out free tickets. Leaving aside the men's game for one minute... last year's HOME GF got 5k people, the year before 4.6k I can't find one over 6k looking at 4 random years Why shouldn't they give out free tickets? Also, I don't think this has anything to do with the GF to Sydney move I think it's about optics for the women's game before the world cup. If you want to bitch about something have a go at them for that

Guys...they always hand out free tickets especially to the women's games.
Every team every in history has given out free tickets to games. Used to get them ALL THE TIME at Hindmarsh be it Adelaide City or Adelaide United. Every A-League team has done it in the hey day and still do it now
I AM NOT SUPPORTING THE GF MOVE FFS but seriously
Sydney FC hosted last year in front of 5k at Jubilee

+x+xThere was an article in the age yesterday about how much victory have lost since covid. However they have large investment incoming.
Maybe why they haven’t sacked popovic. Can’t afford to. Large investment from the US. Up to 70% of the club could be sold overseas. 777 Partners. If they want they could sack a manager very quick if they become 70% owners of Victory, as well as 70% of internal staff as well.
