Do you reckon this is a knee jerk reaction to Paramount bidding 1.5 BILLION for the Cricket rights? Danny and THE APL boys looking to sure up a revenue stream for when the broadcast deal gets canned?

+x+xReminds me of Afl grand finals always being played at MCG despite what teams are in it- but it kinda makes sense for them with the league starting in Vic and mostly Vic teams in it. You’re not comparing apples with apples though. You are talking about 100+ years of tradition. And no other stadium in the country has the capacity to host the AFL GF. I would support moving the AFL GF if another city had an 80,000+ stadium. There's literally only one other that has the capacity and that is in 'NRL Country' :) But with the case here, it's just more square pegs in round holes from the decision makers.

Non NSW clubs that make Grand Final will have to arrange ‘grand final trip package’ at a discount if the FA or Apl want decent attendances 🤷♂️ Que sera, sera Whatever will be, will be we're going to Wemberly Que sera, sera Whatever will be, will be Master of puppets I’m pulling your strings Twisting your mind And smashing your dreams…

All the clubs saw an extra $1million+ of revenue each that they don't have to do much for and thought it was more important than their fans. Incredibly short sighted.

The feeling I get is that generally the new lot are TRYING to do the right thing, and I can see the thinking in this idea...if - if we had a few extra hundred thousand followers of the game I just cannot see the demand or interest - a festival of football for the week in Sydney? If it was Perth and Western united playing it would be farcical all the week's press events leading up to it. Also, teams like CCM or Jets who make it, the boost that hosting the GF gives Maybe a silver lining is we place more emphasis on winning the league?

+x“Sydney the new Wembley” OMFG how do they come up with this nonsense? The best bit is they claimed that we can now organise flights and accomodation knowing where it will be....missing the fact you still don't know until a week before if your team will make it

I think ppl are starting to realise me calling this new FA f--ken useless c--ts is 100% warranted this is a massive step back for the AL - i hate the final series but FFS at least the teams that hosted it hosted it on merit Short sighted and cash grab
these Kangaroos can play football - Ange P. (Intercontinental WC Play-offs 2017)

Come to think of it if Football Australia are smart they should announce the start of the NSD within the same week to restore some goodwill back to the sport. This is a massive own goal after what the Socceroos did in the last 3 weeks.

Really dumb decision. Fan numbers have been declining and they decide to take even more away from the ones that are still around. I'm just picturing a MV vs MC grand final played in Sydney. Utterly ridiculous. I'd be ok with them saying that if any of the NSW clubs finished top, then they would play the GF in Sydney. That would make a bit more sense. If there are no NSW teams in the GF, the atmosphere is going to be shit. You'll get an abnormal percentage of neutrals who won't make any noise and just further degrade the experience. Then there is the cost for traveling fans (or all fans if no NSW teams are playing). There is only 6-7 days between the semi and gf. Anyone ever had to book last minute airfares? That shit is expensive. Just did a quick search and if I wanted to book a flight today, Mel to Syd, to depart this Sat return Sun, it would cost me $362 for just me. That would involve leaving 7am on the sat and returning back to Mel 7am on the Sunday (cheapest option). Then imagine the prices once the demand skyrockets when you have thousands of fans trying to get airfares. Then there is accommodation which is also a challenge on short notice especially once demand skyrockets. If an average family (2 adults / 2 children) wanted to go, they would be looking at potentially a $2k+ (gf tickets, airfares, accom) just to watch their home team.

For a league they already doesnt have enough games in the season due to its resistance not starting the season until the AFL and NRL codes finish.
And despite not having promotion and relegation the fact there is mediocrity for not coming first whats the point of this league again? How does it help the game in Australia?
So frustrating following football in this country.
Get the hurry up FA and start the NSD soon so we can have a point of difference for us football fans because im over it...

Are you sure? I can’t fathom how clubs outside of Sydney would ever support this. You spend a whole season fighting tooth and nail for fans, desperately trying to make 3/4 empty stadiums look exciting, and then the one marquee fixture that is guaranteed to sell out and leave a lasting legacy, you give it to shitney?
I just don’t get it.

It's definitely looking increasingly attractive. My intention was to always follow the NSD from a distance. I don't really have a horse in the race, but planned to watch the highlights / occasional game and keep an eye on the scores and table. Now I'm thinking I may need to pick a horse.

+xAfter the highs of the Socceroos, this is like going back 2 steps after going 2 steps forward. Then again this is football in this country. Why would they do this? Money. What else.

I just don’t get it. Sydney will host the Isuzu UTE A-League, Liberty A-League and E-League Grand Final for the next three seasons, beginning in 2023, after a landmark deal was struck between the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) and Destination NSW.

whats the prob, you guys want finals its just like the other 2 codes more than ever...... You see thats the thing, the Minor Prem should always have precedense over a finals series and GF winner, football is not like nrl/afl.. The APL is like nrl/gayfl finals as the winner I mean cash cow. Smart of NSW/APL, its business thats what you got.

+xThis is deplorable. Home grand finals ensure big crowds and great atmosphere to the team that has earned it. Whatever money made from the agreement with Destinations NSW will be more than lost on reduced ticket sales and reduced publicity. Seriously - how did the FA come up with this! +xThis is deplorable. +xThis is one of the fuckedest decisions these idiots have ever made. Twitter is blowing up. Make sure you tag Townsend in @drt15. I thought playing a round of Aleague while the WC was still on was a bit of a disaster but this is next level..... So much for all the good will the WC may have generated... Looks like Danny and the boys will be standing on the streets outside Allianz for 3 years in a row giving away free tickets to GFs.

I just don’t get it. You've got 3 clubs in Sydney already, as well as another very close and one more nearby. Then you have Perths, Wellingtons and Brisbanes who know they've got bugger all chance of hosting a GF in the near future anyway. Western United would sell their soul (if they had one) for a dime, and City have never cared much about their fans, so may or may not have been for this.
