Pissed with the Cove for appearing to not be as strong as other supporter groups. The cove are now boycotting Saturdays game btw. What more do you want them to do exactly?

+x+x+x+x+xIf we don’t boycott and take drastic action this will just become the league of the current CEOs.
And we will never have NSD or PR I'm out mate. Cancelled my Paramount subscription this morning. Not a big deal to the idiots in charge I suppose but 'solidarity' and all that. That article did mention (without quotes though) that Chanel 10 are furious. My trouble is: a) i paid a year in advance for Paramount and b) i have already paid to attend every game this season. Me cancelling or boycotting literally does nothing. The other issues is my club is one of only 4 to vote against it in the end so feel a bit torn as well. If there is momentum and people are still talking about this in our first home game since the world cup AFTER CHRISTMAS I will join the red army in the walk out even if nobody notices from my fancy seats aha And to top the whole rotten thing off my dog is dying. Fucking dogs don't live long enough. Ah shit brother, sorry to hear that. Cheers mate. Done and dusted this arvo. Just back from beers for the old fella. Loved that mongrel. (Apologies for the thread hijack.)

I know your pain Muz. I’ve lost 4 dogs in my lifetime. But when our dogs pass they wouldn’t want us to be sad - just remembered 👍

It’s times like these I’m glad I made the call a few years ago to now renew my membership and stop going to games. Will watch the occasional Victory game on ten and the highlights on YouTube but that’s about it.
Gets too emotionally draining when you get so invested and constantly get treated like crap or have your support taken advantage of.

I haven’t been a member of City for 6 years or so I think it is, and honestly don’t miss it.
My connection with the league has been reducing year on year, going from watching the majority of matches when I had Foxtel years ago and attending each heart/city home match, through to not renewing and slowly disconnecting from things by reducing my viewing and attending of matches.
Agree that things get to be draining, especially when you connect to the point of affecting moods when results aren’t what we want or when we see decisions or actions are taken that make no sense.
It is sad to see the slide the competition has taken really, as it still delivers a decent product for what it is based on the more limited viewing I see these days.
Bring on the NSD which will hopefully spice things up for the better.

And we will never have NSD or PR Bollocks This protest has no consequence for either Don't rationalise by thinking this is a fight for "the game' If you pay anything to the APL you support them You're power is in your Wallet, and that is the only thing they listen to. When the cash losses exceed the intangible benefiits if owning a license they'll either sell or just walk away. FA determine P/R and NSD.

+x+xDo people not understand how businesses work? pre selling these games to NSW government gives FA money now to invest in other aspects and put that money to use rather than getting it after each season is done. WE ARE NOT A RICH SPORT.... we need help with stuff like this so we can get more money into the game... and people wonder why the game doesn't grow... no one willing to sacrifice for it. Only recently found out only 5 clubs are in the APL? what is the point then? abolish it and make one that all clubs will be part of.... just a huge waste of money and resources. Bit of a fact check here. The NSW is not giving the FA any money, they are giving money to the APL. Two separate entities all together. The money will be used for APL purposes only. (eg: ALM, ALW, ALY, EL) Fact check You have no idea where the Destination NSW money goes For all you know it may be going straight to Silverlake to pay a Dividend on their imvestment. I highly doubt Silverlake will wait for years for the Jets to be sold, or the next expansion

I saw an interesting post on Facebook that talks about the conflict of interest of Simon Peace. This deserves a discussion. SP is on the APL board, City Board and represents Silver Lake. Melbourne City votes yes for the DNSW money. You can see why Silver Lake would vote yes as they want a return on their investment. But what is the motive for Melbourne City to vote yes? They don’t need the money. To me, it looks like SP had to choose between Silver Lake and Melbourne City fans and chose Silver Lake. Am I wrong?

Make sense really. A-League moved off Ten's main FTA channel. Women's off FTA entirely. Its interesting that 10 and Paramount included performance targets in the contracts.

Ratings have been poor. Subs have been poor. Where does the money come from? City can't exist the league alone if all the other clubs go under.

How many of people ended their subscription because of the shit Paramount app? It wasn’t the A-league’s fault that Paramount’s service sucked and now they’re paying less for it. Paramount had a built in motive not to improve their service.

Paramount had a built in motive not to improve their service. Point 1: You are correct that Paramount disrespected Football fans by their coverage and lack of proper functionality. Point 2: You are incorrect that Paramount had a motive to offer up a shit service. Let’s remember CBS/Viacom own 2.5% of the APL as part of the TV deal.

Very disappointing to read this.
It is paramount that football's governance is good, because football is in such a competitive market in Australia.

Makes sense. DT could have just said that on Monday instead he decided to piss in our soup and then proceeded to tell us he was just cooling it down. Here's a radical idea. Find out why people aren't subscribing. It's not that difficult. Maybe it's because there is no SmartTV app on many mainstream TVs. Maybe it's because there is no pause/rewind during the live streams (even the old freebie Telstra Football app had that). Maybe it's because there was an issue with iOS devices being sent to a news stream rather than the game stream and the issue took weeks to fix. Maybe it's because the discounted membership deals didn't auto renew at the discounted rate and people had to run around in circles trying to sort it out. The APL should be holding Paramount to account, not the other way around. I'm sure some people may have left Paramount purely for football reasons, but I'd say the majority didn't.

Paramount had a built in motive not to improve their service. Let’s remember CBS/Viacom own 2.5% of the APL as part of the TV deal. Is that 2.5% worth more or less than: a) the costs to re-vamp their entire streaming platform and; b) the money saved on APL not reaching metrics therefore paying less for the product

All of these exact points 100% 10 times over The platform has been a resounding failure in nearly all aspects of live sport streaming. I'm sure it's fine to watch NCIS Idaho but it was never and continues to not be fit for purpose

Im sure the "service" will improve tenfold if they are successful in their 1.5 billion bid for the cricket rights.... Might be looking for a way to dump the crash test dummy in Australia and focus on what would really make them some coin?

The league constantly puts the cart before the horse.
Football is in the "Entertainment" business. The primary source of entertainment is supposed to be the skill/talent of the players on the pitch creating what we know as Football. It's a sport.
The A-league seems so hellbent on all these corporate metrics that it's forgotten that the ONLY way to get bums on seats is to ensure the product on the pitch is top-notch quality.
Literally, nobody is interested in watching a league with calamitous defending and sloppy technique. Want better ratings on streams/TV? Want more in attendance? Want wall-to-wall media coverage? LIFT THE STANDARD ON THE PITCH!!!
The biggest issue facing the league, IMO, is that the top domestic players that are Socceroo's-worthy are great, but the drop-off from there is dire, to say the least. The A-league needs to focus heavily on lifting the standard of the bottom 1/3rd of players by attracting/producing talent.

Am I wrong? Actually, the way to look at it: City and Silvelake vote as a block. Together they own about 40% of the APL, but probably have even more control than that of the board. We've suspected for a long time that City has undue influence. The Silverlake decision and now this Sydney business all but confirms it. It's now City's league, and the league now exists at the discretion of City and Silverlake.

+xIf nothing else I am now even MORE proud of Goodwin and I thought that was impossible after the first two games of WC22 Yep 👍 Craig Goodwin is not only a great Socceroo/AL player but also a person of integrity that won’t bow down to the APL and pretend to be ok with all this nonsense. His public statements are a stark contrast to pissweak fence sitting statements coming from other players like Leckie and Tilio for example Leckie has made his millions and proved he can play well in Wcup and AL - why can’t he join with Goodwin and speak out against the APL too? Make Goodwins leadership against the APL decision even stronger. He really doesn’t have anything to lose now at 31 years
