It's not exclusively a football thing. You'll see that sort of behaviour at nearly any team sport. I've seen a woman punched in the face at an AFL game. I've seen a group of blokes wearing KKK hoods at a cricket match against South Africa. Haven't been to many NRL games, but I'm sure some NSW/QLD people can insert similar stories here. Obviously, I've also seen fights at the football. I'd say it's not necessarily a sport thing either. I remember going to nightclubs and pubs when I was in my twenties and there was always bloke's itching for fight. Unfortunately there are just douchebags in the world we live in that ruin things for the rest of us.

It's cultural. Look at Horda hooligans, they sat in a different position at Aami and watched the Melbourne Darby. To not expect trouble at a football match is naive.

But why does football attract those types? Like I'm interested why groups of blokes name go into active then carry on like that. Like the ones booing glover why? We need David Attenborough to do a study or something

Sport is passionate for viewers and when you mix alcohol with that passion when people are together you get some poor behaviour.  Then you have the small number of flogs who just want to misbehave so they do.  It doesn't matter what you do they will still be flogs.  The flogs seem to have this view that the event is all about them so they whinge and complain about the slightest thing they don't like and tell everyone that they are speaking on behalf of the fans which they aren't.  Most people would much rather that they p*issed off out of the game.

I think it was more than just the "flogs" booing Glover.

Perhaps something to do with the fact he was guilty of incitement by throwing a flare into the crowd and did not receive punishment??

Most logical people see that he deserved some punishment there. Surely.

C'mon mate, you know exactly why Glover was getting booed. Whether it was intentional or accidental, Glover threw a light flare into the crowd and got away with it. Any opposition fans would behaved in exactly the same way if it had happened at their ckub. MC included.

Why? For some perhaps status? Teens/young adults rebelling against nanny states or perhaps in some cases fullfilling a lack of "belonging" due to individualist competitive freedoms allowed by capitalism?

They're the same supporters Glover threw a lit flair at with no repercussions. I'm not a fan of booing but that reaction was inevitable. Did you go to the derby? Was there any trouble?

Tend to agree that flogs are attracted to football. In small numbers yes. People saying look over there are avoiding the issue.

There are dickheads at the NRL and the AFL but they ain't wearing all black, organised and looking for trouble like wannabe ultra wankers. More isolated incidents.

Exactly.
Go to any nightclub strip in the country on a Saturday night and watch the peacocks strut.
5pm Saturday night walking down Rundle Street headed to the fringe there was a bloke losing his nut starting a fight with security guards.
It was 5pm and 80% of the people on the street were families and kids walking to see a show.

Like the ones booing glover why?

Seriously?
Booing? Naughty naughty boys!!!
Maybe coz he is the opposition keeper and maybe also coz the dude pegged a flare at them fairly recently.
Or maybe coz he is the worst keeper in the league and maybe the dumbest yet is protected and gets games for Australia because of who he plays for.

Like the ones booing glover why?

He threw a fucking flare into the crowd mate. And the league did nothing. Did you expect us to clap him for a good effort? He will be booed, abused and hated by us for the rest of his career. Get used to it. Although admittedly I wished the chant relating to him was about the flare and not the bucket… But clearly the intention was to put him off his game (and it probably worked).

It's just schoolboy fantasies, like going to a Harry Potter convention and dressing up, in this case, they are living out their fantasy of being a hard core ultra.
When they turn 35 or so, they might grow out of it.

Photos released by police of the alleged pitch invaders they wish to speak to include some men wearing clothing with marked links to active Melbourne Victory extremist groups previously shut down.According to The Herald SunThe Herald Sun, sections of the pitch invasion mob can now be revealed as members of hard-line supporter groups that have terrorised the league for more than 10 years

@ MCG

You need to delve into the background of these extremist, the demographics, what the norm is to them........what their father and grandfather brainswashed them with etc.

This may well help towards answering some of your questions.

ill note it is certainly not just 'football' and it isnt even just at a professional level ive seen parents at local tennis, AFL and football punch on with each other, abuse the ref with language you should not use around kids, and lose it at other kids at young as 12 years old for not playing well

ive even seen shit behaviour at athletics and swimming which are shit sports but that is what being competitive is as times...i guess

However, with all that said football is one of the few sports in the world were your team can dominate a game and still lose - it is incredibly emotional and can be incredibly frustrating - fans often bring a lot of energy and passion when things aren't going their way can channel that into rage

it is a sport where banter is 'part of the culture' no so much in Australia becuz the competition is shit but if you watch any fan channel it is literally mega phone scream from the roof tops when you win and hand your head in shame if you lose....

Every sport has its flogs but not every sport has exposure to the mass's like football does OS let alone the small amount it gets here.
Where there is crowd/s there is always those who are not there for the actual specticle but to hang amoungst each other, drink be loud and be out of out arseholes.
Are any of these flogs actually/really into the football game they attend ?
Like jumping up and down, screaming amongst each other, shirts off, seriously how do they keep up watching a game through its phase's of play only when something occurs do they jump scream to carry on like flogging DH's.
Tribalism is great but its always these flogs who take it past the boindaries for what ? macho man crap ?
Just the recently played derby at Bankwest, my 18yr old daighters boyfriend and mate we're lined up and beaten up near parra station - they didn't do anything but that they we're far behind the Cove mob just 2 of them so easy pickings by the flogs.
Bruised up, lost mobile they ran for safety.

F T B sounds close to the ground down there with the MV support base, seriously how many of them are there just for the social side/piss and muck racking if you don't mind ?
