Without taking any particular stance on this, Interestingly enough I do recall Melbourne heart having a group called “KGB” about 10 years back. The “G” in the banner was a hammer and sickle. The simplest answer is - in Victoria the laws were brought in by a government, democratically elected on 3 occasions, and with a majority. Giving an absolute mandate. These laws have not been challenged and enjoy a huge approval rating with not only the community but other political parties.

There re exemptions for Hindus etc however so maybe some lads can convert to hinduism to get around it.

These "laws" is not what is getting the government elected. It's the effects of their splashing out of money (mostly borrowed) like drunken sailors. Whilst is applauded by the naïve, it is sending the state bankrupt. Victoria's deficit is heading towards a disastrously status, greater than NSW, Qld and Tasmania combined. You'd have to wonder how educated Victorian voters really are.

They have a mandate to do what they want because the people of the state have entrusted them with that power on multiple occasions. And as I said, these laws are well supported.
