Kerr became Australia’s all-time leading goalscorer last January, with her five-goal haul against Indonesia in the Asian Cup group stage taking her past Socceroos legend Tim Cahill’s previous record of 50 . In the Disney+ series Matildas: The World at Our Feet , to be released on Wednesday, Kerr is shown taking issue with a headline in The Daily Telegraph  in which her tally was labelled “not equal” to Cahill’s. The headline was for a column by former Socceroo Robbie Slater, who wrote that Kerr and Cahill’s records should not be compared, that to do so would “overshadow” the latter’s achievement, and that they should be celebrated separately. “I cannot believe, in this day and age, that someone could write this, and have young girls read it, and that the Telegraph  would actually publish such a sexist comment on the front page. “It’s not about me ... Imagine a young girl growing up going, ‘Oh, no matter what I do ...’ Anyways.” “Imagine little girls reading that,” an incredulous Kerr said,

I made a very similar comment in that thread when Rusty was carrying on like a flog saying the Women's world cup will be rubbish. Yeah I know... Just being a little flippant around the language that's all...  Slater is an arse-hat everyone knows that but (and I dont really like Sam Kerr's attitude btw) belittling her achievement is just balls...

I made a very similar comment in that thread when Rusty was carrying on like a flog saying the Women's world cup will be rubbish. The difference in that thread opinions were invited, so I gave mine. I wouldn't go around preaching "women's football sucks", and I wouldn't write an article about it, but if someone asked me what I thought I would give them an honest answer. Whereas you are only capable of giving a pc answer publicly so with people like you you never really know what they really think.

+x+x+x+x+x+xKerr became Australia’s all-time leading goalscorer last January, with her five-goal haul against Indonesia in the Asian Cup group stage taking her past Socceroos legend Tim Cahill’s previous record of 50 . In the Disney+ series Matildas: The World at Our Feet, to be released on Wednesday, Kerr is shown taking issue with a headline in The Daily Telegraph in which her tally was labelled “not equal” to Cahill’s. Imagine a young girl growing up going, ‘Oh, no matter what I do ...’ Anyways.”“Imagine little girls reading that,” an incredulous Kerr said, Isn't it a touch sexist that she only seems concerned about little girls reading that and NOT little boys?  Just asking for a friend. Slater. Say no more. It's about this primarily.“It’s not about me ... Imagine a young girl growing up going, ‘Oh, no matter what I do ...’
Don't worry I mix with plenty of people who think women's football is not worth watching. Edit. As for Slater's article, people like Sam Kerr need to grow a spine. Inevitably when some people compare you to the greats of our game, those who fought the gates to hell to make it to the top, that is going to invite skepticism and scrutiny. We don't need to pretend that Sam Kerr is the greatest Australian footballer , and by extension , one of the greatest Australian athletes of all time, in a sport where participation levels are meager compared to the men. Women's football is a developing sport and the global and national talent pool isn't large or strong enough draw comparison with the males in what is probably the hardest sport in the world to make it professionally. And any little girl who reads Slater's column and starts crying to their mummy and gives up their dream of becoming a Matilda isn't cut out for professional sport.

She's publicly challenged it and called BS, I would say that is the epitome of having a spine. To be spineless would be to shrink into the background and not comment. If a bloke calls out a journo they're applauded and it's called "being a competitor" because they want to "be the best".

Sometimes I like Thai food and other time I like chocolate cake. They're both good and I enjoy both. I love the men's world cup. It's by far the best tournament in the world but that doesn't mean I like the A league any less. I mean if that analogy doesn't work try this. Sometimes your wife likes it from behind, other times on top.
