Hello all, First time post, and I believe this is an important aspect in Junior sports these days, so....
Interested to know how people have dealt with nepotism in junior AFL club sports, with coaches and coaching staff/managers kids giving preferential treatment over other players, be it with better or lesser skills sets. What I've seen is that this preferential treatment is seen by almost all parents, and as kids get older they see it themselves, and start asking the whys and whats etc, yet people are reluctant to speak up to have their kids included. This leads to frustration and separation within the team. Extends to the point where less capable kids (and no I'm not one of those parents that believes my kids can do no wrong and are the best since sliced bread) are being put up to special training privilege's in higher level academies. Seems to me that this kind of preferential treatment separates teams, and leads to individualistic performances on the field, with ball sharing amongst the "click kids" and not amongst all players. Lets not raise the issues about parents yelling from the side lines, or abusive behaviour, this is not about this, please. Look forward to peoples thoughts and experiences. Cheers
