We've struggled with the physicality of the Swedes. We'll need to get better in this area because it's been exploited in all our poor performances.

Execution of attacking free kicks is abysmal. They are incapable of putting the ball into dangerous areas.

How does van Egmond keep getting minutes. Slow, one-paced, gives the ball away at least 50% of her touches.

And all the Matildas have is long balls, mostly inaccurate. The coach has to take responsibility for that.

Bit like Maguire for England. His England form is better than for United but this idea that there's a core group of players and sacking one could see the rest turn on the coach. Tony has his favourites too. I think the Matildas have nowhere near the depth to recover from a leadership group mutiny compared to England. Easier to just oust the coach.

We need to pick the best players based on skill, system and mind. Van Egmond's biggest claim is nostalgia of having been there so long. 

Frustrating game. Lots of fouls from the Swedes. Ref not controlling that and a soft penalty. Aussies looked tired, giving up possession a lot with stray passes, and often out of attacking ideas. Hoof it in to the box and hope for the best isn't a strategy. 

Congratulations on 4th. The correct ranking after all of it. A massive effort in parts with some silly bits and poor, survivalist coaching. Yet the result and expectations were certainly better than expectations. Got to where many hoped. 

Just shows Matildas were lucky to make it this far, far better teams than them in this world cup.
