Because he has spent the past decades shitting on the "effnik NSL clubs" and anything to do with NPL in general and any attempt at ambition from clubs outside of his franchise system is attacked and ridiculed. I mean, thats to be expected considering who pays him but even now, at the final hour, the default position is to tow the APL line..... Would love to be a fly on the whole the first time he drags his arse out to a championship club.... 

Its incredible how much of our golden gen spent time at three clubs - marconi, sydney united and adelaide city. Really hope we grt adelaide city. They also have their own stadium

Nah mate I’m an Apia fan but my Dad loved when juve would come to Sydney back in day. I just think they’re Such a big club with a fair few national titles and countless past Socceroos having played there I have a soft spot for them I guess haha.

i would have no problem with adelaide united having a B team in this competition. i dont see any other team or franchise working from adelaide.

Agreed, just that (at least in my mind) referring to this new comp as a second tier or league or A2 league or anything similar would have been a clear indication that pro/rel to the ISUZU truck and passenger vehicles Aleagues PTY LTD was the FA's long term goal ... Now it seems that this has been given up on.

On another note, i can see it being referred to as "the championship" pretty quickly I think "The Australian Championship" is too much of a mouthful.

God help us all if they insist on incorporating the league sponsors name in the marketing though.....

I don’t think the name Premiership would suit what FA are trying to achieve. The Championship would be the top of the pyramid with all clubs from the top down trying to become’ champions’ rather than ‘premiers’

APL would have a whinge re Premiership but they wouldn’t have a Trademark on the word that’s for sure - they would make noise about it but have no leg to stand on to contest legally I’d say.

The ALM is part of the Australian Premier Leagues so it would probably be an issue.

I can see in the future the APLs having continuing problems and the FA taking them back over. That is when pro/rel will come in - and it is likely to be well before the 2034 date - much earlier.

Mind you as for us thank christ no A2 AL2 - its a poison chalice and doesn't suit NPL/NST/NSD whatsoever, I don't wish for this 2nd league having a bar of anything associated with you know what.
Its a fresh new league/comp that means more from grass roots people up.
We will stomach following the ol Dart - Australian Championship, - pity the FA sometime ago didn't put out a survey to supporters, in hindsight that may have been interesting.
The Premiership off the top of my head sound ok but no matter.

I agree Muz, I hate the second tier of NPL in VIC being VPL1 this year, just stupidly confusing. 

Anyway Im not a fan of the Championship name but clearly FA are running like the wind as far from the APL train wreck as possible.. No reference to second tier or Aleague B or anything like that shows a very clear concise intent in my opinion...

well name aside it sounds like knights won't get their wish and the nst is going ahead next year

looking forward to it. There are so many npl clubs that any team that gets a good enough scout could catch up to a league standard quickly even if the wages are lower
