+x+x+x+xI'm expecting that Brisbane City should be in there with a shot for Queensland Hope so, QLD cant be the only state without a proper effnik club in the top division. City has assimilated better than most already. Concern for Melbourne though. No reason to be concerned Paulie .... Assimilation is last century's racism...... You mean like the word "effnik" you constantly use? Nice colours BTW

You can tell the APL is running on fumes. FA and most soccer media itching for this thing to start https://twitter.com/joeylynchy/status/1702296924781678681?s=46meanwhile APL wanting the FA to rescue them from their own greed and reporting on ...."vibes" https://twitter.com/vincerugari/status/1702458457549656163?s=46

ALeague wrap Up article is a beauty. Fancy glamourizing the clashes Croatia vs Footscray JUST without a hint of the destruction some caused to football's reputation.

"If A-League clubs aren’t able to represent their communities effectively, then surely something has gone wrong here. Administrators have tried to whitewash football’s history to create a mass, universal, popularised competition, and in the process, made Australian football lose its soul". ... AMEN to that.

I was at a macedonian vs dalmajians game just last Sunday for a Champions of Champions game at Rockdale. Good crowd for a 3pm koff in mid 30's heat and the football was sensational and not a crowd issue at all. The only minor aggro was some typical dubious tackles that deserved yellows that were delivered. Gotta luv the ethnic aussie Clubs just ooooze's soul...... Doesn't every sport here ie main ones (nrl/gayfl) have crowd destruction/con struction making headlines even more of late haha..... Well written article bring on the NSD. MSC I think SWand meant YNWA :) yer buggered if I know what YMMV, please explain mate.

You mean “ destruction some caused to football’s reputation in the minds of all those people who’ve never even considered going to a football match.” If only ‘football’ had been more concerned with the views of football fans rather than the perceptions of the ‘AFL media’, we might actually have developed a product that people want to watch.

Perhaps the NSW aspiring NST clubs are hedging their bets?.... and rightly so.... They would hate to miss out on a season of competition in case the March 2024 kickoff is just dreams at this stage???? Seems like common sense more than anything about the NST to me......

All it needs is Adelaide City and Heidelberg United and you have your 16 teams. no doubt this will be trimmed down to 12 i'd say

Isn't Gunghalin a Canberra club? I doubt whether they'll award two spots to Canberra. Croatia unlikely to get in given they're already under a cloud for continuous bad behavior. Pity if no Adelaide or Perth teams are in it, without which would be hardly deemed a true NSD.

Pity if no Adelaide or Perth teams are in it, without which would be hardly deemed a true NSD. Canberra Croatia is generally well behaved here to be honest. If there's going to be just one from Canberra, it's more likely to be Croatia (of those two): They own their ground (which is also generally used for Finals and neutral games in Canberra), whereas Gungahlin continue to use the shared Rugby/AFL ground that is ACT Gov. owned, and will most likely lead to some availability issues..

Joey Lynch asked FFA for an updateFootball Australia, supported by BDO, continues to evaluate submissions from clubs as part of the Assessment and Review phase.
By design, this is a thorough process and Football Australia will take as long as necessary to reach a final determination.
As it stands, Football Australia is still aiming for the National Second Tier to commence in 2024 with further updates to be released in due course.”

We should have something similar to community shield however the winner of the A-league finals and winner of NSD play each other. Either at the start of the next season or after the finals for an epic finale.

Don't say this to loud.... but what if the top two teams in the NSD, played the last placed A-L team over a H & A series with the winner being in the A-L the following season....

Would love a playoff finals series to determine pro/rel in lower divisions here. Was weird seeing NPL 2 matches have finals series, when there is promotion already. My perfect world would always be last down for first in the lower tier. 'Finals' for lower divisions to be the same "Top 4" format that is currently used in most leagues, but the Premier is replaced with second-last from the promotion tier.
