Nice having it all folded in one place. I think the Lebanon home game should be in Perth to allow a better turnaround for the away game. Final games are hopefully both dead rubbers whereby post season rest can come and we can have a novelty squad.

I know that Algeria has said they will host, but I'm not sure that's where the game will be after all.
The venues of matches shall be set by the host association in conjunction with the confederation concerned. Matches may only be played in stadiums that have been inspected and approved by the confederation concerned.
I don't think AFC can inspect and approve a stadium outside of the AFC, so that may rule Algeria out.

Looks like Algeria's offer has been rejected. Just put it in the UAE already.

Only 3 weeks away now. Mentions of Malaysia for Palestine game now. Need clarity. UAE would be best. Players will bee going back and forth anyway so travel avoidance is near impossible. I'd go thin on fullbacks because Degenek and Rowles can fill in for this type of game if needed. You can see Arnold wants that versatility.
Ryan, Gauci, AMB Strain, Souttar, Degenek, Circati, Rowles, Bos Irvine, Baccus, Luongo, O'Neill, Metcalfe, Teague Boyle, Duke, Goodwin, Borrello, Toure, Iredale, Volpato, Irankunda
Opt for some local players for the first game and you'd needn't bother having them fly away. We got away with this in the NZ games last year. Biggest risk would be a food bug in the squad. No one is being purposely dropped. Blood those up top. I know we're going to see Behich among others and probably should wait until we hopefully get dead rubbers but it really is time to get some blooding going.

+xThomas whoah is me - sad our stocks are not good enough imo. AMB and Bilokapic have shown decent signs but also need to go that level higher. Young Steven Hall has been touted as a future top keeper. It's vital Gauci go to Europe soon but Hall could and maybe should make a move himself in order to play.

Frawley has worked with Ryan, Redmayne, Gauci He has not worked with Langerak, Thomas, AMB, Bilokapic or Hall. Who was/were the best keeper/s in the A-League mens last season?

Glover and Redmayne's closeness is the issue.

Ryan, Thomas, AMB, Bilokapic, Gauci, Langerak are worthy if selection is actually based on current form. Redmayne and Glover are shocking atm

After watching MV Adelaide I think it's time to expose Gauci, Irankunda along others to the qualification set up this window. I think we can afford to. It'd be much better now through June than in the next stage. Arguably the path to the WC is lighter now but I just hope we can start blooding sooner rather than later. 2019 Asian Cup was his tournament but I was shocked to learn Ikonomidis has one cap more than McGree currently does. It shows how long it's taken to introduce these players to the frame and being kept out by and arguably worse older guard.
McGree has played just 18 times 6 and a half years after his first call up. He's been a mainstay for the last 12 months but he was playing well beforehand anyway.

Crawley joined the national team in June 2019 and trained with Thomas in South Korea. Interestingly for the rest of 2019 Langerak was included instead of Thomas. Covid came and then in 2021 Thomas was included the entire year for 9 games. It was only in 2022 that Redmayne came in for Thomas. I don't remember how the form was of each player back then but you could see the direction it was going that Redmayne was going to be in the frame based on past working experiences.

Gauci was excellent against Victory onslaught, kept AU in game. Compared to Glover and Redmayne it’s chalk and cheese tbh

Who would you have picked ahead of Behich in the squad? I'd use Behich's omission to add someone in another position. Rowles is fine for emergencies and I'd focus on Bos. At least at this stage. Rowles is way more defensive but that could balance to see attacking elsewhere on the pitch. I've always wanted Elder to come in but that ship has sailed. Farrell is looking good for the future.

I like that idea. An opportunity to add another midfielder or striker. That squad seems light on AM to me. The striker selections missed the mark too, but there were reasons for it with how early the squad needed to be selected. The guys outside that squad I want to see are Toure, Kuol, Mabil, Irankunda, Robertson and Volpato. More attacking options mostly.

Degenek and Rowles as RB and LB back ups while being there for the centre. Circati though is a CB mainstay so Degenek has to make way.

I think Maclaren will start against Bangladesh. Won't rest easy until we secure that win against Palestine. They'll be either so hyped or s demoralized. Just got to get it done.
Not this round but for the love of god can teams in our group have some draws against each other this time?
