+x+x+x+x+x+xwe have 5 really exciting young players in circati, bos, irankunda, robertson and volpato and a really nice professional core of metcalf, mcgree, souttar, burgess, ryan and irvine could build a really nice team out of that if all goes to plan We don’t need Volpato. He clearly does not want to play for us. This isn’t about his club as Circati has chosen to play for us. Valverde recently said he would give up 2 UCL titles to win a Copa America with Uruguay. This is the sort of allegiance to our nation we should require instead of the BS we are accepting right now. Volpato played for Roma during an injury crises, and was a bench player for a relegation team. Sure he would add to depth but he doesn’t start for us either. He can be ex-communicated now I don’t care, He has played a fait bit this season. He is unlikely to be good enough for the italian nt. Even tho he played on the wing this season he is a rare zone 14 specialist. So his competition is jelacic and bernardo (who is also being played on the wing). We have very few in our history that can cover that position. Without a player comfortable in zone 14 u are forced to over rely on the wings and on set pieces like we are now. So he is a very important part of the jigsaw puzzle going forward because he would let us vary the options in attack We have Mcgree, Hrustic and Genrau. It’s just ridiculous how much we have to simp for him when they should be begging for the chance to play. He rejected a World Cup spot, just think about that. Who in their right mind would do that when they were born and grew up here. Both my parents were born overseas and there is no way I would give up a World Cup spot! Genreau spends more time at 8 or 6 and is a mr fixit, hrustic is similar. Mcree is similar to volpato in that he is a specialist 10 often playing wide with his club. However, mcgree is more of the ideal 10 to have in transition (even though middlesborough like to play possession football) whereas volpato is effective in tight spaces even when recieving the ball in ball body position. This is despite being tall. This is a rare skill (for us) and similar to jelacic, rogic and bernando but volpato has reached a higher height than jelacic and bernando. So he would be very useful. I can live with trying a bit longer Interesting reading, Grazor? Have you seen Volpato play? I haven't - yet. Haven't seen McGree play for Middlesbrough, only for the Socceroos. I was pretty keen on him a while back, until you and other posters thankfully sparked my interest with the Aussie U 23s and younger. Now I believe there are far more talented and better players coming through with superior skill sets to McGree for attacking midfield positions - Youlley, Jake Hollman, Segecic, Valadon, Jelacic - and maybe even more I have had a decent look at yet? Also, from the Socceroos I think Silvera is a bit hit or miss, and again these whizz younger Aussies are potentially better players. Who is Bernando? I just can't keep up with them all! Bernando is cassios kid and plays for macarthur. He is able to disguise his shot really well. He is good in traffic For some reason we keep playing talented central players wide, segecic is also a central player Ive seen volpato play a lot. He has been deployed on the wing this season. Really good in traffic and loves to take players on. Really good at disguising passes when in traffic and finding a free player. Probably the only aussie ive ever seen that can be effective making passes from zone 14 into the box to create a shot, though he doesnt always get the chance to play that role unless they play him centrally. He is currently playing for a struggling seri a side who got relegated. He got 820 minutes in 25 games at the age of 20 this year and seems to be on an upward trajectory

+x+x+x+xI personally dont get why we are desperate to break down deep blocks. We only face deep blocks against weak asian teams we tend to get past one way or another. The matches that matter - games against the 4 other big asian nations and world cup games - are where id like to improve
To bury them and not look so inept playing them! It shows a few of our senior players up! Sure but sounds like it is only fan ego haha 3 points is 3 points. Who cares if we beat randomnesia by 1 or 30 goals. i want to beat top 30 teams more often Randomnesia - ha ha! On cricket one of the Tas members coined the phrase, 'who gives a Fuckistan?' There are some T20 teams playing from less known countries in Asia. Good international football teams will also have a look at our struggle to beat deep defensive blocks and possibly deploy them against us for phases in games, like if they go 1 or 2 up. Indeed we are in trouble if the other team scores first. Every time we have gone behind against a team in the top 40 in the arnie era we have lost i believe? Nisbet, arzani, volpato, irankunda, robertson and souttar could all be good chasing a game Tilio and kuol too if they can get their careers back on track Would be super useful to have technicians on the bench

All those young players such as Volpato,Jelacic ,Bernado,Bodalato could possibly play as specialist 10s but McGree if he can shake off injuries is still in there and after this season's efforts and his tremendous work in the GF Nisbet could easily play as a 10.The first and second CCM goals showed his ability to play under pressure in and around the box and pass to players who were in better positions to pass or score. Jackson had him as a 10 for much of the season.

Irvine and robertson mostly deployed at 8, the latter really struggled in a few games i saw him at 10. Hollman is an 8, hrustic might be ok there

Based on reports and info we're likely looking at
Gauci, Thomas, Izzo
Strain, Atkinson, Circati, Souttar, Rowles, Burgess, Bos, Farrell
Metcalfe, Baccus, Irvine, Nisbet, Hrustic
Yengi, Duke, Iredale, Leckie, Boyle, Irankunda, Arzani
Let's say we name 23. 26 is possible now even outside tournaments, isn't it?
I expect Jones, Miller, Deng to be named. Mabil might sneak in. I don't get why we should bother with Leckie and Boyle if we name Arzani and Irakunda. Is Borrello fit? Arnie likes him. Yazbek should stay in Norway for now. Silvera instead of older players is preferable.
I find our defence should be set as such. Others are a good shout but I like this bunch.

I want a group of players playing it on the floor. I like the small nimble teams with front 3's and not always necessarily wingers.

He has to play somewhere but not clear where he is quite unpopular amongst socceroos fans lately. I think we don't really appreciate players with great skills off the ball, which is a shame because historically that has been the main feature of our best players

Reports Stamatelopoulos is in. Squad due today. Likely 10am?
Not sure if we take 26. We named 25 last. Something of a homecoming tour.

Question: Who should the starting keeper be? Gauci is at the best Club, but is on the bench and is not playing. Izzo has been in fantastic form, but has very little international experience. Thomas has been good, maybe not as good as Izzo and also has little international experience.

Nearly as expected. Good to see Devlin back. I assume Iredale has his wedding but not on the game date per se. Stamatelopoulos deserves a go.
Behich us a joke. At least Duke is scoring.

How many players have at least 20 caps there? We need to organize a bunch of friendlies to get experience for the next gen

Good to see Arzani and Irankunda there it will help us in our problems against deep block defences.
Assuming Arnie felt this at the Asian Cup where we really struggled with.
However I still think the squad needs more change especially some of the older players whom I think they already reached their ceiling at international level.
