Which genius thought it was a good idea having Roar men and women playing at the same time?

Interesting first half.

Macarthur looking to defend as a solid block and counter looking like they might score every time they get a quick break. Some desperation, some bad shooting and some excellent work keeping them out.

Roar looking to press high and forcing turnovers, playing good football through the middle and keeping pressure in the last third for a lot of the first half, but unable to really fashion a killing blow.

Macarthur holding the better of attacking play (on goal) and Roar holding the balance of play.

Waddingham is rested after his international duty and we are missing his ability to make a goal from a half chance.

Handballs now... I have a problem with the first handball not being given since the player had his hands behind his back but his elbows stuck way out and it was the elbow that blocked the ball on its way into the middle of the box as the defender turned his back and blocked the pass. Should have been a penalty since the out struck elbows were clearly increasing the body shape. The second handball I think was fair enough not to award and the third (outside the box) looked very clear and was given.

Game being played at quite a fast pace so far. Let's see if Roar can now move on from the first half and add goals to pressure. Macarthur will be feeling like their game plan is solid - having created plenty of chances to score and looking dangerous in front of goals despite being forced back frequently by Roar's slick passing.

Quality of Macarthur's front third versus quality of Roar's teamwork. I can't pick it.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Hmmm. Not sure about our finishing ability without Waddingham. I am not convinced that Gomulka should be playing striker. He was there for a couple of shots but well off a good finish. 16 year old Brownlie did not do much wrong but equally did not shine when he got his chance to play. Still a lot of development to come for him both physically and tactically. Markovski showing some physical presence holding the ball but also not really doing anything extraordinary. Early days for our forwards I think.

Macarthur dropped away as the game wore on, which was odd with plenty of substitutions being made. They have a strong first team but lost some cohesion in the second half.  Seemed to press a bit higher with the occasional reward but perhaps lost some of their defensive resilience in doing so. Looked like Sterjovski had them slowing the game down and time wasting as early as 60 minutes. Still more than capable of passing through our lines and going over the top, but we were just good enough to concede only the one goal.

Might be the best game I have seen from Freke in Roar's goal. He pulled some excellent saves out and kept us in it.

Plenty of great passing by the Roar required some excellent work from Kurto at times to keep us out - but we did not capitalise on the pressure we were putting into the final third and although we kept working around the box with some really classy play we did not threaten goals as much as we would with a first choice striker in there.

Good signs for Roar still with a full game of decent play and a stronger finish than Macarthur.

O'Shea and Berenguer do not yet equal anything greater than the sum of their two parts. If they can work each other out we can only benefit given they both contribute individually so well.

Disappointed not to get the win. Relieved not to concede a second. Happy that we kept after the game till the final whistle.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.
