Yep tuff game played end to end - both had created many chances and close shaves missing the target. Well done APIA. MCG why pick Spirit ?

Cracking Italian derby. Very physical had a proper derby feel. And a solid crowd for a cold Tuesday night I’d say around 1200 not sure what anyone else thinks that was there. the Marion st stand was 75% full members and hill side was pretty full

have to say I'm a bit underwhelmed compared to the 2 vic npl games I've seen. The vic games seemed more technical and cultured in style. I'm working off a small number of games mind you
given marconi's unparalleled history in producing golden gen roos I will go for them if there isn't a QLD team....but I hope they get a different coach if tonight was representitive!

Marconi play a very old school physical game under their coaches. Apia do try and knock the ball around. Was a very physical game ref let a lot go.

grazor, when is a derby played in the ways of regular games, hardly ever. The intensity lifts 3fold, cards here there, late tackles, frustration. Not a game to judge NSWPL.

Was able to get down after work, good to see a decent crowd in. Also happened to spot the likes of Simon hill and Alex brosque in the crowd which is great to see. Marconi didn’t play particularly well, have critiqued tsekenis style on here before, but then we do seem to pull out good performances from time to time, and then other weeks it’s just a slog. Good performance from costanzo, was dangerous down the wing. Jesic is still a good/important player and leader of the field, but every season but as you’d expect he’s slowing down just a little bit more and becoming less effective. Deserved result for APIA in my opinion, they had the better of the chances. Feels like APIA have very much had the wood over Marconi in recent years, off the top of my head I can’t recall the last time we’ve beaten them

What do you think the crowd number was around?

Glanardo pretty much on it, mind you your guys had a few good chances that should have been put away. Few box scrambles, couple just going outside of the post. APIA on the counter had youse most, should have put a few away as well. Ref made some typical odd calls but thats normal. Yes healthy crowd for a chilly Tuesday eve, great football times and yes been a while since you guys got one on us. Good luck rest of the season paisano.

Same fixture at the same venue in a couple weeks time, we shall see if the result is the same or different this time round. Not just v APIA, but it feels like Marconi have had a pretty poor track record in important matches in general in the last few years, very few have gone our way. Hopefully by next time temelkovski is back for Marconi up front, was impressive in the early rounds. I might be blind but I'm pretty sure I didn’t see him out there last night and he’s still out injured. He makes Marconi much more dangerous going forward.
re the crowd figure, I always find it hard to judge at lambert park. Partly because it’s so small/intimate that it doesn’t take many people to make it feel full. Pretty sure the seated capacity is around 2,000. All I can say for sure is that it felt like a similar crowd to the last APIA v marconi game there last year, which is decent given that it was a mid week fixture.

Entertaining match for the neutral, end to end stuff with a true derby feel (plenty of passion in it) Some of the defending was a little sloppy, both teams managed to get in wide and deep fairly easily and that miss by the young APIA lad ---oh boy bet you he had nightmares replaying that in his mind last night .. missed another sitter in front of goals 4-5 mins later too he's lucky APIA got the win :P

I think Marconi out up a great fight mate.... they where having alot of success down that left wing just couldnt make a final ball to save their lives.... match genuinely could have gone either way with all the chances... and your keeper (sorry forgot his name)..... what a superstar......

+xhow has Constanzo not given a go in the a league ? He was so direct and a threat all night Wasn't there something floating around about an surname 'returning' to Adelaide for next season? I have a bit of a feeling it could be him (if this hasn't already been solved)

+x+xNWS Spirit secure their spot in Australia Cup round of 32 after a 2-1 victory over Sydney United at Christie Park. Absolute Cupset ! Not sure if i'd call it a cupset. United have been bang on average, with 3 or 4 injuries, no depth they are where they are. Everywhere Kalac goes, it turns to shit.

It is the classic unexpected cupset - yes I know SU have been bang avg this and last season and for a Club/Spirit playing in L1 who were L3 season before it is great cup football result by them. They have never gone this far ever compared to SU who probably have the best NPL record in the Cup. Agree Kalac is massive concerns, I suppose he's a credible GK coach with all his experience and even there he's moved to alot of gigs but overall Coach ? Not good by the Club of this stature.
