+xfirst npl match for me thanks for sharing the link quality surprisingly decent rubbish pressing and squeezing (which you would expect if they aren't full time pros) but technically decent Which makes me wonder how many of these players aren't getting chances in the a league because it takes them a year to get them up to speed, but if a club did put in the effort there are players that look good enough technically the nst might provide a bigger shot in the arm than I thought if this is indicative of the npl talent Bit of a blah game to be honest. South are basically a brand new squad and you could tell from the futile attempts at link up play... The intent was there and we where cohesive defensively but should have put away more than one of our 5-6 decent chances on goal... Promising from Archibald, Bonada, Barcia and "Frank" Lampard. Anyway a derby win is 3 points to kick off the season, Ill take it. Gully will be fun to watch against Moreland tonight, they have been thumping them in preseason apparently and play very fluid, ball on teh deck football. Magic v Heidelberg may be the match of teh round ... could be cagey affair with rebuilds from both clubs.... As for players, dont forget that the "consolidation" has not yet begun in earnest. All of the players spread over 14 clubs will be fighting to join the 2-4 VIC clubs for next year... talent is there... Good example is our Harry Sawyer... The only thing keeping him out of the Aleague is a few solid seasons of full time training I reackon... Some of the NST players will be knocking on the Aleagues door very very soon.

Hahaah we try and sit behind the "Dodgy Asian betting guy" sometimes... feed him bullshit about who the players are, tell him the wrong goal scorer, who got a card etc... Some of the comments are hilarious, at one stage it was a whole bunch of gamblers from Uzbekistan of all places.... NPL betting is wild.

Not the best turn out for the Melbourne derby to be honest... about 2,000 to 2,250 there last night. Was a perfect night weather wise but 8.15 kickoff on a Thursday was an odd time.. Would have got a better crowd on a Friday I think. NSD SHOULD bring many more out of the woodwork... Was speaking to a few of the board in the club after the match and our membership numbers are very healthy for our last year in the NPL wilderness... Fingers crossed momentum grows from here but crowds of 3,000 - 5,000 will be the norm next year I predict.

Depends but for SM for instance, follow them on FB and they put up a teams graphic pre match. Really, these clubs cover themselves on FB similarly to how AL clubs do. Ivan Franjic, yes. He was at the bergers 2022 and MK 2023.

I don’t believe it was CCM per se, whether it was something the co- chairman decided to say off his own bat or if it was something all the club owners or indeed the APL hierarchy wanted put out there I don’t know. What I do know is the A League, as it stands now, is unsustainable.

I really like to avoid getting into it but a couple of you I consider forum mates from different motha's haha not picking sides but to stay open some may say on the fence. I think one thing that should be noted back on the thread highlights our huge ongoing football conflicts and read between the lines the CCM CEO quotes the timing of the NST is dangerous to their APL whilst they are still in reform. Sorry mate I would expect you would say similar in 2026 or 2027 for naturally your comp doesn't want any conflicting competiton. It also highlights as I've mentioned elsewhere, this tiny little mucked up complicated island can't sustain 2 separate forms of football competitions !!!!!!! Talking about being United - well this is never going to happen read it again, never going to happen. 2 wrongs don't make a right but we have a long time existing platform that hasn't shrivalled up and died infact its holding the fort together wether you agree or not. The former commenced by Australian migrants and like many other countries in the world linked by the founders origins be it greek italian cro for as we know countless clubs have some form of ethnic link where migrants established themselves, the coat of arms badge or for eg Hellas or Azzuri generic markings incl by the name. Supporters in the past chanted Hellas as they did why does it matter ? its the clubs dna and who was the wiser back in the 50/60/70/80's the support was the bulk of Aussie migrants. Now as time progressed and we became wiser and in some case's endoctornated by the new dawn marketing machines that a more generic open Club name was what the country needed......sure good stuff something needed to change but I question'd the approach and type of change and we can see the proof in the pudding where the new approach stands today in the national scheme of our countries sporting pecking orders. Marketing and the new world order marched on its cause/case get it off the ground to pull in the neutrals/the non ethnics and here we are going back and forth just as unneccessary as a recent vote we went through and what has it achieved - division/complications even more. It ain't gonna work having 2 football paths - need both aligned to be strong and united as quoted in other threads - the CCM's CEO proves as such coming out regards to the NST as bad timing for them BUT WTF its for the good of our game no doubt about it and hope it survives for I tell you, we will keep being in wilderness and different tribes for decade after decade long after I'm gone. Robbo, mate, I think you are seeing things through intentions that dont exist. You call for unity yet dont want clubs to be whoever or whatever they are. I try to answer every single one of your questions yet you circle around and bring random thoughts into the conversation again and again. One more try from me ... I would appreciate it (for the sake of the argument) if you could answer my questions in bold ... just these questions if thats OK. Believe it or not I dont hate you or even dislike you. I value your opinion even if I dont agree with it because you have at least the conviction to try and explain it.... I followed Derby back in the 70s when they won the 2nd division (Championship) & 2 years later won the 1st division (premier league), these days teams coming up from the Championship goes back down to the champions a season or 2 later. If you don't think the EPL is a super league with 4 teams Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal & Spurs, the big 4, now they are joined by Foreign owned teams (Man City, Newcastle & Chelsea) as super cubs. Derby will never ever win the Premiership ever again. Hence I don't follow the PL, just the players & coach (Ange). I have accepted it. This is the crux, I don't follow foreign ownership, when I started following SFC & the A-League, it was Australian club in an Australian league, now SFC are foreign owned, but are they, it's now owned by Scott Barlow, but I don't care of the owners. Now I don't hate your club or any 'effnik' club. All I said I choose not to follow clubs during the NSL because they were deemed too mono culture & they brought their issues from home. Greek clubs not liking Macedonian clubs, Serbian clubs not liking Croatian clubs. This was my choice not to follow these clubs, not hating on them. No buddy we dont NEED to adapt to anything... Again, not asking you to adapt, I'm telling you that this is what the administration at the time (FFA) wanted & didn't want. Like I said in regards to PL (other leagues even worse), the rich clubs get richer (Man U & Liverpool) & the poor clubs (Derby) can go get stuff, the English FA don't give a shit, because they are making so much money. The Australian APL had the chance to include Sth Melb in the A-League & I felt they should've but they choose not to, not because of racism, but due to Sth Melb are deemed still deemed Mono cultured. No longer will a Notts Forest, Porto or Red Star Belgrade ever win the champions league again either. It's the super league. Dont say never mate..... Never give up hope. Yeah man, fair enough, good luck to you in the season starting soon, APIA and Sydney U58 look like they will be tough to beat and I hear Olympic has recruited well so top 4 finish would be quite an achievement for the youth team. BTW what is your take on the APL "commish" coming out with the revelation that now: “ In the men's we're a development league, first and foremost"Does it make the Aleague less or more exiting to know that results and sporting competition aren't really the focus? It's called reality. A lot of European teams see themselves this way. Although they say " selling clubs " instead. Yeah I guess its true in a way however the clubs and fans themselves still wish to see their club perform on the park and get promoted/avoid relegation or to get a crack at continental football. You can't tell me that Rangers (both club and fans) only pushed to get back up to the top tier of Scottish Prem because of the money they could make selling players? Being Scotlands biggest and most succesful club, was the main reason for getting back up. The model now, is to buy low and sell big. That is the reality, money rules, or you are just medriocrity.

This is the crux, I don't follow foreign ownership, when I started following SFC & the A-League, it was Australian club in an Australian league, now SFC are foreign owned, but are they, it's now owned by Scott Barlow, but I don't care of the owners. Like I said in regards to PL (other leagues even worse), the rich clubs get richer (Man U & Liverpool) & the poor clubs (Derby) can go get stuff, the English FA don't give a shit, because they are making so much money. I really like to avoid getting into it but a couple of you I consider forum mates from different motha's haha not picking sides but to stay open some may say on the fence. I followed Derby back in the 70s when they won the 2nd division (Championship) & 2 years later won the 1st division (premier league), these days teams coming up from the Championship goes back down to the champions a season or 2 later. Yeah I guess its true in a way however the clubs and fans themselves still wish to see their club perform on the park and get promoted/avoid relegation or to get a crack at continental football. You can't tell me that Rangers (both club and fans) only pushed to get back up to the top tier of Scottish Prem because of the money they could make selling players? You are now comparing a fan to someone in the Scottish FA, who would think that the Scottish league is a feeder for the PL. The fan would not think this. You are now comparing a fan to someone in the Scottish FA, who would think that the Scottish league is a feeder for the PL. The fan would not think this. I'm a SFC fan & want the best for SFC, but I wouldn't begrudge our best young player seeking the best for himself.

Look at the sub bench of both Liverpool & Man City this week, WOW, they would probably run 5-6 in the PL if they were to Man City & Liverpool reserves to play. I really like to avoid getting into it but a couple of you I consider forum mates from different motha's haha not picking sides but to stay open some may say on the fence. I think one thing that should be noted back on the thread highlights our huge ongoing football conflicts and read between the lines the CCM CEO quotes the timing of the NST is dangerous to their APL whilst they are still in reform. Sorry mate I would expect you would say similar in 2026 or 2027 for naturally your comp doesn't want any conflicting competiton. It also highlights as I've mentioned elsewhere, this tiny little mucked up complicated island can't sustain 2 separate forms of football competitions !!!!!!! Talking about being United - well this is never going to happen read it again, never going to happen. 2 wrongs don't make a right but we have a long time existing platform that hasn't shrivalled up and died infact its holding the fort together wether you agree or not. The former commenced by Australian migrants and like many other countries in the world linked by the founders origins be it greek italian cro for as we know countless clubs have some form of ethnic link where migrants established themselves, the coat of arms badge or for eg Hellas or Azzuri generic markings incl by the name. The sooner we get to 16 teams in the APL, 16 teams in the NST all connected to the NPLs below the better. From a football perspective having more players playing consistently at a higher level against stronger opposition can only be a good thing. Ideally played alongside each other from February to November. I grew up in Five Dock and worked in Leichhardt so APIA was/is my team in the NPL. I moved to the Coast in the mid eighties, rarely saw any NSL games on the coach except for the occasional Cosmos or Northern Spirit game so I've followed CCMFC since formation. My dream would be be able watch Apia play against the Mariners at Central Coast Stadium. Ideally that would be in the ALM - but as long as I have my local team I'd only be slightly less happy at a smaller boutique stadium at Tuggerah or an upgraded Pluim Park in the NST. 30 games plus finals plus Australia Cup (from rd of 64) games plus say another 5 games for a 'professional cup' plus 6 AFC games for the top tier teams' would mean that the top teams could end up playing 50 games or more (30 H&A, 6 Australia cup games, 5 professional cup games, 6 AFC games plus possible further AFC games plus 3 final games). He tried his best but he's a bit touched in the millenials because on the one hand he tries being some impartial observer of the whole thing and on the other hand, roasts the NSD and anyone involved in it on reddit like he thinks you can carry on multiple identities. I might be misremembering but he was the one that came up with "NPL on planes" wasnt he? In a way I dont blame the guy, he is "bought and paid for" like most of the media... very few tell it like it is.

I really like to avoid getting into it but a couple of you I consider forum mates from different motha's haha not picking sides but to stay open some may say on the fence. I think one thing that should be noted back on the thread highlights our huge ongoing football conflicts and read between the lines the CCM CEO quotes the timing of the NST is dangerous to their APL whilst they are still in reform. Sorry mate I would expect you would say similar in 2026 or 2027 for naturally your comp doesn't want any conflicting competiton. It also highlights as I've mentioned elsewhere, this tiny little mucked up complicated island can't sustain 2 separate forms of football competitions !!!!!!! Talking about being United - well this is never going to happen read it again, never going to happen. 2 wrongs don't make a right but we have a long time existing platform that hasn't shrivalled up and died infact its holding the fort together wether you agree or not. The former commenced by Australian migrants and like many other countries in the world linked by the founders origins be it greek italian cro for as we know countless clubs have some form of ethnic link where migrants established themselves, the coat of arms badge or for eg Hellas or Azzuri generic markings incl by the name. Supporters in the past chanted Hellas as they did why does it matter ? its the clubs dna and who was the wiser back in the 50/60/70/80's the support was the bulk of Aussie migrants. Now as time progressed and we became wiser and in some case's endoctornated by the new dawn marketing machines that a more generic open Club name was what the country needed......sure good stuff something needed to change but I question'd the approach and type of change and we can see the proof in the pudding where the new approach stands today in the national scheme of our countries sporting pecking orders. Marketing and the new world order marched on its cause/case get it off the ground to pull in the neutrals/the non ethnics and here we are going back and forth just as unneccessary as a recent vote we went through and what has it achieved - division/complications even more. It ain't gonna work having 2 football paths - need both aligned to be strong and united as quoted in other threads - the CCM's CEO proves as such coming out regards to the NST as bad timing for them BUT WTF its for the good of our game no doubt about it and hope it survives for I tell you, we will keep being in wilderness and different tribes for decade after decade long after I'm gone. I followed Derby back in the 70s when they won the 2nd division (Championship) & 2 years later won the 1st division (premier league), these days teams coming up from the Championship goes back down to the champions a season or 2 later. If you don't think the EPL is a super league with 4 teams Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal & Spurs, the big 4, now they are joined by Foreign owned teams (Man City, Newcastle & Chelsea) as super cubs. Derby will never ever win the Premiership ever again. Hence I don't follow the PL, just the players & coach (Ange). I have accepted it. Fine but when I asked you why one type of foreign ownership doesnt bother you and another does you went off about chanting Hellas Hellas or Marconi or whatever??? That doesnt make sense to me when I see other people who dont care... Im pretty sure a very tiny minority of Hellas Verona fans are ethnically Greek but they have no problem with it in Italy why does it bother you here? I would 100% accept that you hate my club (or any other effnik club) because of the team, or the fans or that one annoying prick on the internet that doesnt stop talking about them, no problem with that, but just because they chant a "foreign" name doesn't make sense, at least to me? I hate lots of clubs but NOT because the are Italian or Maltese or Croatian or whatever.
This is the crux, I don't follow foreign ownership, when I started following SFC & the A-League, it was Australian club in an Australian league, now SFC are foreign owned, but are they, it's now owned by Scott Barlow, but I don't care of the owners. Now I don't hate your club or any 'effnik' club. All I said I choose not to follow clubs during the NSL because they were deemed too mono culture & they brought their issues from home. Greek clubs not liking Macedonian clubs, Serbian clubs not liking Croatian clubs. This was my choice not to follow these clubs, not hating on them. No buddy we dont NEED to adapt to anything... You might want us to but it is OUR right NOT too.... Thats the whole point. We ARE Australian football clubs and AUSTRALIAN owned at that. We live in a country that gives us the right to participate in this multicultural tapestry of Australian-ess without having to confirm to what you or anyone else thinks is the "right way" If you are not comfortable with that, that is absolutely your right, but you cannot make others comply with what you want. Leave it to each individual club to morph into whatever their members choose. Like i said to you ages ago, you (me and everyone else) choose a club for often, really silly reasons, but you want to follow who you want to follow. I agree there are many fans that dont agree with me and have jumped on board these franchises (why they didnt do it when similar existed 30-40 years ago is a WHOLE other story) because they dont feel part of what they see as a foreign culture. But there are also thousands of "old soccer" fans who have been left out in the cold because of who they/we support... When we see that soccer in this country has been SOLD to foreign investors, when we see the Abu Dabi group basically dictating the very future of our national teams and "clubs" are business entities to make profit for overseas investors, dont you think it is a little lame to worry about 15 year old kids chanting "Cro-at-zi-a" or whatever?

Man City will win PL again, Real Madrid will win La Liga again (this time not Barcelona), Bayern Munich will win Bundesliga, unless a surprise this year & Bayen wins next year, PSG will win Ligue 1 & well the Serie A is the one with 4 possible winners. No longer will a Notts Forest, Porto or Red Star Belgrade ever win the champions league again either. It's the super league. Dont say never mate..... Never give up hope. It's ok I have Sydney FC, that's my club.

The other chairman has consistently said he wants to see a connected pyramid with P& R.Peil raises valid points if you read the article not the headline. However, there will never be a right time and his point of view should not stand in the way of progress. We need to be ambitious. The sooner we get to 16 teams in the APL, 16 teams in the NST all connected to the NPLs below the better. From a football perspective having more players playing consistently at a higher level against stronger opposition can only be a good thing. Ideally played alongside each other from February to November. I grew up in Five Dock and worked in Leichhardt so APIA was/is my team in the NPL. I moved to the Coast in the mid eighties, rarely saw any NSL games on the coach except for the occasional Cosmos or Northern Spirit game so I've followed CCMFC since formation. My dream would be be able watch Apia play against the Mariners at Central Coast Stadium. Ideally that would be in the ALM - but as long as I have my local team I'd only be slightly less happy at a smaller boutique stadium at Tuggerah or an upgraded Pluim Park in the NST. 30 games plus finals plus Australia Cup (from rd of 64) games plus say another 5 games for a 'professional cup' plus 6 AFC games for the top tier teams' would mean that the top teams could end up playing 50 games or more (30 H&A, 6 Australia cup games, 5 professional cup games, 6 AFC games plus possible further AFC games plus 3 final games). Only thing I can recall is that monstrocity of a pro/rel model floated by Vince Rugari a few months back, basically wanting to get NST and A League to 16 x clubs each and then ONLY have pro/rel between them as some sort of Aleagues stand alone thing... With any other potential "expansion" being to either of these two leagues and ONLY by buying a license.... I'd love to be wrong. However, I will say that I have personally spoken to him since then and he is a supporter for a proper football pyramid. That great to hear mate but the important thing is "is anyone else in the APL?" It would be good to hear from someone at APL ( Conroy or Garcia ) other than club owners, chairmen or whatever as to what the plans are re cooperation with FA and the second tier. At the moment they seem to be going round in circles trying to explain what kind of league they are. They already said what they want via their mouthpiece rugari. They want to expand by poaching the most well supported NSD clubs and pad out the top division unti they can split into 2 divisions - and own both. Which well supported NSD clubs is that?
