I counted 574 completed passes between the 2 teams which is fine. There were a few moments that the camera wasn't looking at the action so it might be around 600 which is roughly where the swiss league is.
So if that is anything to go by, the NST will play a similar progressive style to the a league and the national team which is good. 

Obviously the lack of full time training meant the squeezing in south mel v heidelberg game was way less intense than in the a league. I suspect if a billionare paid every npl player to player full time for a year and then chose the best you might actually get a better league than the a league, assuming the few npl games I have watched are representative. The problem is that going from semipro to pro is a big adjustment which probably takes a year or two and I suppose few a league clubs have been willing to scout and invest in npl players

This however brings the question - is there a danger that the nst could also eventually be too big a step up from the npl? Even if you have promotion and relegation, you still have 90 odd npl clubs vying for 2 promotion opportunities. It isn't a big enough carrot for lower clubs to invest. I wonder if we can eventually have a conference system between the nst and the npl. Say 2 conferences with 3 relegation spots each. 90 into 6 is much better. At the moment the nst is hugely needed, but even if we have p and r tomorrow, we will have less of a pyramid as we will a 2 runged ladder standing on a pancake

in other news I'm going to have to choose a nst team soon. If there is no QLD team maybe I go for one of the teams that produced the golden gen - sydney united, adelaide city and marconi. SU have a few too many nazis for my taste, so maybe I go for marconi. Why not. Of course all bets are off if there is a qld team

Nothing screams NPL more than sprinklers going off at randon times... hahahahahah South v Bergers would have been an entertaining match for the neutral I reckon, apartf rom a really flat spot early in the scond half it was pretty end to end and a fairly quick tempo consiering the heat and the fact most of the lads would have worked a full shift at their day jobs 2 hour prior.

Wasnt there but a mate tells me Stefan Valentini taunted (made offensive gestures or swore he didnt see it) at a bunch of Thunder fans after Oakleigh scored and they got upset. a few jumped the fence, security was, as always, totally unprepared and scuffles broke out. A few punches where thrown on and off the pitch and one guy was KOed apparently..

Thats three sets of club fans now that Valentini has antagonised.... I wonder what makes him do it? 

Anyway, cops were called, a couple of arrests made and the game was called off.. Dont worry Oakleigh wont face any serious fines or sanctions, they have an "in" with FFV and a bucket of fried chicken and couple of days of washing the dishes at home should see this thing sorted out. 

Like shooting fish in the barrel at the moment mate... Bentleigh are in a death spiral.

Their president resigned during the week and Chick is rumoured to have totally lsot the dressing room and the faith from the board.... probably wont last to long - Katsakis is heavily rumoured to "come out of retirement"

i can only think its gonna be a good interesting season in view of NST starting up next and that in time a few of the usual suspects get their act together before or by 2nd round.
Makes for a good comp.

Decent cevap and they have all the chili sauces on offer. Beer is cold, the people are great and they draw a good crowd (at least against us)... Can be a bit "rambunctious" in their support but I've never had any issues there.
